ジェシー・レイエズがウナギのゼリー煮に挑戦、イギリス風の紅茶作り、そしてエミネムとのコラボについて語る

It’s a little sus, man. The British food’s a little sus, but that’s not bad. It looks hella sus. I should call them. [ __ ] I’m going to die if I don’t look three ways before I cross the road. It’s crack, bro. I don’t know what this is. What the hell? It’s a fish. I feel like I’m I just have to dive in. No, I’m curious. What do you mean? No. Have you ever had this? No. Jesse, welcome to the British test and we’re going to be putting you through your paces today to see if you’ve got what it takes to be a true British person. At the end of it, you could get a coveted Joe British passport. What is Britishness to you? What do you know it folks? Obviously, you to what do you think of when you think of uh of Britain? I think of I think of Spice Girls. I think of Stormy and I think of my boy Neil. I got I got a UK mans on my squad, too. So, I feel like I got y’all close. Now, I touched a note when you said bottle of water. That’s exactly how I say it. Nice. Bottle of water. You guys, you guys don’t give a [ __ ] about teas. I feel like y’all eat your teas all the time. We drink them. Yeah, you Oh, isn’t that Oh, you drink your teas. That’s why you don’t use them in your vernacular. We’re also very sarcastic. I don’t know if you’ve clots. I love that. I love the sarcasm. I’m here for it. It’s my third language. What would you say is like the biggest difference between Canada and Britain? Nothing’s coming to me culturally. The biggest difference for me is the most obvious is just driving on the other side of the road for me is the most stark like [ __ ] I’m going to die if I don’t look three ways before I cross the road. Are we right or are you right in terms of driving on the right side of the road? It’s always a debate. I think you know the answer. But on and of course you have just uh released a new single with a British icon in Calvin Harris. How was that? And what’s he like? Great. He’s great. I love him. He’s uh he’s dope, man. And it’s a friend like he’s just dope and he’s and he’s dug it out with me for years, man. and a lot of people don’t know you’ve been at it for for years. So, it’s nice to have a new one to the world. Well, the first part of the British test is we would like you to make a proper British cup of tea. You’ve got all the utensils in front of you. Some of them won’t be uh beneficial, but that’s for you to work out. First off, are you a tea drinker? Yeah, I dabble. I dabble. How do you usually have it? Peppermint black. That’s so different to how we do it in the UK. I know. You guys have it so cute and sweet and [ __ ] So, you got everything in front of you. Let’s see how you can make a cook. Oh, I can just go. You’re not going to go in no direction. Am I holding it the right way? Do you want this? No, that’s fine. You can hold it whichever way you want. So interesting that you went water first. Okay. Just remember you are being judged on this. Very fair. Fair. Well, you need to go water first. What the hell? How you need something soluble for the ingredients to mix into? No, you just want everything together and just raw dog it. Uh, that’s exactly what the British do. We raw dog tea. We usually we would usually put the tea bag in first and then the water. But I like that you went for the kettle cuz some people go for microwave in America. Ew. No. Okay. Which tea have you gone for? The mint one. The mint one. Okay. So, we put it in there. [ __ ] This is a little nerve more more nerve-wracking than I anticipated. God damn. You want me to do it how I would normally do it? How you think a British person How I think a British person Oh, no. How I think a British person would do it. Well, this doesn’t feel good for the poor as well. Can you tell I’m so domestic? So domestic. I’m sweating, dog. Love that. Gone for the oat milk. Have I? I changed my mind. Let’s keep this [ __ ] shake. Oh, do you think it must be It’s just harder to be a British, but this is this just looks stressful right now for you. Yeah, you guys have it so hard. The poor Brits. If that’s not a 10 out of 10. Right, I’ve got some pointers. Do you? Um, so you went peppermint? Yeah, I went peppermint. Peppermint with milk? Yeah. It’s crack. Have you ever had it? No, I haven’t. Actually, you’ve never had peppermint with milk? No. It has It’s It’s like the cousin of mint chocolate. Do you like mint chocolate? It’s good. But you went for the wrong spoon as well. There’s a spoon. Yeah, you used it right for the sugar. That’s a tablespoon. Oh god. The teaspoon. Um, but it’s just the milk before the tea bag is. Did Am I getting a passing grade? It’s sacry. Yeah, sacri. Did you leave the tea bag in as well? You’re not supposed to leave the tea bag in there. We strain it before taking out. How do you think you’ve done? What would you give yourself based on just the taste alone? The taste is a 10, man. The taste is a 10 out of 10. [ __ ] The taste is an 11 out of 10 if we’re being real. I think I’m going to be nice. I’ll give you six out of 10 for the tea. You know, I’ll take it. A passing grade is a passing grade. A win is a win around here. Um, right. So Jesse, we’ve been asking the British public questions, and all you need to do now is guess what they said, okay, from these questions. So you’d like to pick up the first one, read it out, and then we’ll go from there. Would you want to move to Canada or the US? These [ __ ] don’t want to go to the US. Everyone wants to come to Canada. That’s my guess. Absolutely correct. 81% of people that we asked wanted to live in Canada. Why do people want to live in Canada, do you think, over America? Because I’ve heard that Canada is a beautiful place. Good people as well. Seems like the most obvious answer. What has it been like to live in North America recently? Everything’s very divided at the moment. Mhm. Which is [ __ ] sad. Life’s a lot easier to live when you assume that everyone’s just trying their best and doing their best. You know who is nicer, the British or Canadians? This is a consensious issue around the world. Both famed for being very polite, very nice. But where do you think the British people voted on Brits or Canadians? I’ll ask your opinion. I think the Brits probably voted Canadians. 68% of Brits said that Canadians are nicer than British people. Yeah, I would I think you know why I think that because you you said it earlier when you were like, “Oh, if you do that, we’re very sarcastic.” I love sarcasm, but maybe the majority of the world doesn’t love it, so then it wouldn’t be viewed as a nice agitator. And do you see um how nice people are here? I do. It’s funny. I had this conversation with a friend yesterday because I have a girlfriend. Shout out George Coup was one of my girls from the UK. um when she years ago when she was dating in America, she was like, “Oh, this is different.” And I was like, “Yeah.” She was like, “Yeah, because there’s this thing there’s a there’s a certain like almost like British men just have more decor, more like niceness, I guess. I don’t I can’t remember exactly what she said. I hope I’m not Don’t crucify me, girl. Is Tarantino the goat?” Yeah. So you thought that British people would say he is the goat? No. I don’t think British people would say that he’s the goat. So they said 66% said no. That must hurt you because Sarantino’s a legend, isn’t he? He has this way of making a microcosm of a universe where he can have a violent, gruesome, bloody macabra moment, but have classical music playing alongside of it in in his movies. And I love that justosition. And he also was my scapegoat when I started in the industry and people were asking me what genre I was. If my song if if a song can play in a Quinton Tarantino film, then that’s a Jesse Rea song. That’s that was my that was my answer. Who is better rapper? Eminem or Skepta? I know y’all are going to say skepta. I feel like this must have been so close. It wasn’t. It wasn’t? No. I’m going to say Eminem for me, but what did the British people say? Eminem. 91% of people said Eminem was a better rock. Wow, that’s lit. I would have thought nationalism would have taken over instead who Eminem fire that guy. That’s funny. We were just talking about him in the whip cuz um my driver ended up being in his documentary cuz cuz of S Wayne and he drives a lot of people and he was he was driving him as well. It was fire man. I learned one of the best things I learned was when we were shooting a music video for a good guy. And I am notoriously known for giving essay length notes. And whether it’s mixes, whether it’s video shoots, whether it’s just whatever it is, I’m very particular with what I like. And it’s a little tedious when we do videos sometimes because you have to wait for the editor to apply, they send back. Sometimes there’s changes you didn’t want done and it just gets monotonous and it’s long. this guy after every couple shots we would do, he’d go and he’d sit by the monitor and he’d be like, “Okay, let me see them.” And he’d pick out his favorite shots day off. And I was like, “I love this.” And I turned around to my managers and they were like, “Yeah, that cost a lot of money because that means that the day on the shoot is going to be a lot longer, but ideally you can get to that point where you can, you know, pick and choose so that by the time it goes to the editor, you’ve already cherrypicked exactly what you like.” That’s lit. Shout out M is One Kiss Duipa’s best song. You’re funny. That’s funny. Why is it funny? Because obviously I’m biased. Why are you biased? Cuz a [ __ ] who wrote it. For anyone who didn’t hear that, it was cuz she wrote it. Cuz the [ __ ] wrote it. That’s right. Cuz I wrote it. I’d say the British public agrees. You were very close. Said no. Oh. Oh. 5644 split. Who was the So I can’t give you the song. I imagine. Yeah. And rules. One kiss is a great rules. Rules is probably the one that people that people would do. Yeah. You wrote one of the biggest songs ever. I did. One Piece. I did. What was she like? She was dope, but it was long distance. Like me and me and Calvin originally made the or made the original and then he connected the dots after the fact. Yeah. And then and then went to her and then she covered it like what was already laid down. She killed it, man. She killed it. How do you feel when you see when you hear the song now? I feel happy. My bank account feels happy, bro. I don’t know what this is. Is this a land animal or a sea animal? One thing I don’t know what you’ve got. So, can I turn it around? Yeah, turn it around. Yeah. It’s a sea animal. Yes. Oh, okay. Cool. This is a clam. It’s something that we eat a lot of in England. It’s not Is that But is this the action? No. This isn’t the action? No. What the hell? It’s a fish. A seal. An eel. Oh, an eel. Jellied eels. No [ __ ] Yeah, we’ve actually uh we’ve got some jelly eels that No, you don’t. We do. Yeah. Say promise. What do you think we have these with? I’m just going to put them in front. I don’t know, man. Just looking at them. What you thinking? God. You have them with God. We have them with pie. Pie pie. Pie. Yeah. I feel like I’m I just have to dive in. No. I’m curious. What do you mean? No. Have you ever had this? No. No. I don’t need to get [ __ ] Oh, it’s not bad. It’s not bad. What are you tasting? Was it fish? Like ocean. Would you Would you have that with pie? No. No. No. I can’t believe you tried it. No, it’s pretty good. Yeah. Tastes like seafood. What do you think of British food? It’s a little slice, man. The British was a little sus, but that’s not bad. It looks hella sauce. Sometimes y’all just need a little bit more seasoning and some hot sauce. We love salt and pepper. Yeah. What you guys? Is that three ingredients? Two ingredients. It’s two ingredients. Yeah. Is it protein? It’s um chips and gravy. Oh, I love it. I love chips and gravy. Do you got that for me, too? Yeah. We don’t have chips. Damn. So, do you know that we actually claim that we had that in the Canadian? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Sorry. A big staple up north. Is it? It is indeed. Chips and chip shot gravy. It clears. I mean, it’s a cookie. Okay. Is it a biscuit or is it a cake? Oh, it’s a biscuit. This is called a Jaffa cake. Jaffa cake. Yeah. And they’re phenomenal. We do have these for you. They’re my favorite. Are they incredible? Are these um I feel like this is going to blow your mind. Really? Yeah. You know, I’m particular about mixing tastes like that. So, I don’t know. These differently. People Some people like eat the chocolate first. Some people eat Spanish. No. Well, I guess I know. I guess a no. Well, the jelly’s got a yikes. Yeah. I don’t like dark chocolate. It tastes bougie. If you would if you would have told me that you would have liked the eels and not the Jaff before this. I would have said that is impossible. No. Life surprises it us sometimes. Yeah, you are surprising us. Um, what is that puff? What is that do you reckon? Yeah. Yeah. Have you seen it before? Mine. Sorry to this man. I don’t know who this man is. Reminds you of anything. I should call them. Yeah. It reminds me of um tip of the Eiffel Tower. It does, doesn’t it? Yeah. Except this is the Blackpool Tower. The Black Ball Tower. Blackpool. Blackpool. Yeah. P O L E. P O O L. Oh, I get I take it it’s at the edge of a Blackpool. No, it’s in a place called Blackpool. It’s the Las Vegas of England. The Las Vegas of England? Yes. Do you like it there? I loved it when I was a kid. Yeah. Yeah. E. No [ __ ] And there’s a bunch of casinos. There’s a few casinos. There’s a Pleasure Beach, which is um full of rides, which is class. Oh, yeah. No way. Next to the beach. Vegas doesn’t have that. I tell you what, you need to go to Blackpool, I reckon. I don’t know. We’ll see. Maybe one day. It’s got a water park. I’m here for the water park. I think I did pretty good, man. I got four out of five of the guesses. I loved what is usually hated. I’m a refuge for the reject of English food. Perfect. I think you did really well. Thank you. And I think you have earned the Joe British passport. Hell yeah. Woohoo. Can I get some from the crowd? Thank you very much. So that is your Joe British passport. Thank you. I’ll be must be a very proud moment for you. I I finally feel seen. Very grateful. Thank you so much. You can come into this office whenever you want now. Thank you. Thank you so much.
