【ENG SUB/日本語翻訳】井上尚弥の冷静な頭脳を絶賛!テディ・アトラスが語る戦前予想と試合後の考察
Finishing it up. We’re going to wrap it up from Sunday from Japan. Uh people might had a tough time trying to find this. I’m like, where’s one of the best fighters? Teddy’s number three pound-for-pound fighter in the world. How do I watch him fight? You had to go over to Top Ranks page on Facebook to watch him. Quite shocking. Uh yeah, it’s it’s crazy. Uh we talking about your picks, this platform, another gem by you. And we’re going to put an insert, a photo of your report before this fight that’s on the platform that viewers or subscribers would have gotten ahead of time. You broke it down to Not what people might think. I love in a way the monster obviously good punches, solid fighter, just believes no one can beat him. Nobody has. And um but he has been hurt. But that’s another place he comes up high. Marks, he behaves like a champion. You know, he got hurt, he comes right back and he destroys the guy, you know. Oh, you hurt me. Okay, I destroy you now. I now I destroy you for hurting me. So, um, you gotta love him. You know, technique is solid, his talent is incredible. He’s moved up and carried his power, moved up so many weight classes. You wonder when enough is enough, but so far, you know, he’s been able to do it. Uh, he’s always the boss, goes to the body, does everything. MJ, I think that this could be interesting. Here’s where MJ doesn’t come up with the high enough marks to pull off a huge upset. He’s not busy enough, but that’s why I think that he’s got a chance in this fight to go rounds with the monster and to be there and and to have a chance as long as you’re there and you’re not getting the crap beat out of you, you got a chance. And one thing I I’ll tell you there’s a few things about MJ, but one of the things with MJ, he is a really he doesn’t waste anything. He uses his legs to go in and out for defense really well. Controls range really well, and he goes to the body. His his favorite punch is his left uppercut to the body and he is accurate with it and he knows when to throw it. That’s why he lands it. He throws it off a trap. He take a little step back, get you to come in, make you miss and hit you with the uppercut to the body. And I could see him landing that punch with in away because in a way sometimes I’m not going to say he gets reckless, but he’s so he could be so aggressive, so confident that sometimes you just come right after you and you could walk into something. It’s happened to him in the past. He in this case, he could walk into that uppercut to the body. Um MJ does have his shortcomings when he’s going in and out. But I noticed sometimes he go straight back a little bit too much. And in a way is really good at making you pay a price for that. If he sees you go back too far on that line, he’s going with you and he’s going to make you pay because you’re still on that line. You’re not off that line. You’re you’re still in his talking in his sights. Um MJ had a great I mean he’s got all the experience, the amateur background, everything. He’s solid mentally. He’s solid technically. Like I said, the one thing that he doesn’t come up with the high marks. He’s not a busy guy where he’s going to threaten to win a decision probably over in a way. he’d have to hurt him. But he is a guy that because he’s not busy. He doesn’t get reckless. He’s not gonna leave himself open to some of those tremendous crippling punches of anyway. He is a He is a guy that, as I said, he doesn’t waste anything. He He’s He only throws for a reason that he thinks makes sense. He He’s not going to beat himself. He’s not going to get stupid and leave himself open to something. He’s going to be in a fight. He’s going to go rounds and that might surprise some people with the monster. I I I like I like MJ again is I can’t see unless he hurts him how he could be busy enough at the end of the day to accumulate enough rounds, enough points to beat in a way who will be busier, but I think he could be in a fight. Is that a fair breakdown, bud? And You broke this down to a tea. You first of all in a way was a huge favorite minus 1,200 going in. We’re not giving out those kind of odds and laying that. You identified everybody says the monster wins by knockout and all the time, right? There’s a reason why he already has 27 knockouts. You said he’s going to win by decision and that that by decision was plus 320 odds getting back and that’s exactly what happened. He won by decision and your reasoning and your thoughts in the leadup in the previews is exactly what happened. You gave credit to MJ for being a solid fighter, but his style that he’s a low volume puncher that he wouldn’t throw enough punches to beat in a way, but that would allow it this fight to go rounds as he looks to be more defensive and he looks to counter. That’s exactly what happened. Wasn’t the most action fight. It’s kind of a little boring. It was tactical, but it was in a way complete control. And in the end, you gave us another winner in the winner circle. Plus 320 in away by decision. What’ you think of this one? No. Again, you covered it. You laid it out right. That that’s why I said it was going to go the distance where a lot of many many people thought in a way would not come out. He’s a good solid He had a real good solid amateur background. First of all, MJ. So, he’s experienced. I don’t care how many pro fights you. He’s very experienced. He’s a southpaw and he’s he uses his legs to go in and out just enough to sometimes survive him and make it difficult sometimes in some spots to find them. But the main thing was he’s solid defensively enough. Keeps his guard up well. Like I said, uses his legs to change range to get out of trouble a little bit. you know, instead of standing in front where in a way could run on him. But also, he he’s physically strong, MJ. You can see it. He’s physically strong. He’s tough. He’s got a good chin. I didn’t think that he would get broken down. And I didn’t think that he would I thought that his style would make in a way just enough where he couldn’t just make him think enough in a way because he’s a great fighter where he couldn’t just stay on him where he’d have to worry once in a while about a counter coming back. And it became that kind of fight but in a way so great that he got it his way. He first of all in a way was too fast. His hands were too fast. His feet were too fast. Anything that MJ did, he did better at a higher level. A whole different level. I mean, it’s like one guy was using, you know, I don’t know what for gasoline and I other guy was using high octane, you know, one guy’s using regular, he the other one’s using nitro. That was the difference. And of course, the conferences have been away. You ain’t beating them. You just you’re not beating them. And it he exudes that. And the interesting thing for me why I thought it would go the range the distance is what you just said that I didn’t think that MJ would ever be able to win a decision. He’s not busy enough, but it would keep him in a fight by not being reckless. And and it did. He looked some a few big bombs. I tell you one thing in ways people his father does a great job. You better get your son to quit stepping back with his chin up and his hands down. Some big shots missed him by half an inch. Half an inch. And as he gets older, that half inch goes away. It goes away. I know it. I’ve been there. So, that’s the one thing. But in a way, what I found intriguing was he knew he couldn’t just be purely aggressive. and he learned from his last fight. Was it his last fight, Bud, that he got dropped? I think it was I think it was his last fight in a way. Yeah, that was in May verse Raone uh Cardinis. He got dropped by being recklessly aggressive. That was another reason why, believe it or not, I said it was going to go the distance, but because I knew that he’s so smart, he’s got a computer and it would be in his head. it would be programmed in his head that data that I’m not going to walk into some. I’m not going to be overly aggressive. And sure enough, MJ was looking to counter. What did Inade do? He fainted. He slowly made ground. He made the counter puncher be aggressive where MJ didn’t want to be aggressive. Yeah, he’s strong. Yeah, he’s physical. But his temperament is more to counter punch in a way with his brilliance, his intellect, his ability. He made him come after him and do something he’s not really built for. He’s not really geared for. He made him come to him and he counter punched the counter puncher. He He got him out of stride. He got him out of rhythm. That’s brilliant. And in a way did that. And then once he did that and he got MJ to be hesitant, then what did he do? Then he started stepping to him and coming towards him a little bit, but smart, controlled, not reckless, not where he was leaving any gaps for a good counter puncher at the end of the day. Brilliant placement of punches to the body, to the head. Again, just show in a way showing why he’s such a complete package. Yeah, absolutely. It’s another great breakdown by you and uh you’re right, MJ showed a great chin. He ate some big uppercuts in that fight. Uh what what I love about Inway, bud, is for such an elite fighter and number three on your list for pound-for-pound how active he is. This was already his third fight in 2025. And uh there was another star there and another guy in your pound-for-pound rankings also from Japan. Watching that fight in attendance, I am keeping my fingers crossed. That’s what I want to see next. I want to see inway versus Nakatani. They might have to move to a different promoter than Top Rank because I don’t think they’re going to want to keep fighting on Facebook. I don’t know. Maybe I’m not knocking Facebook. I mean, I know. No, absolutely. I mean, you’re 100% right. I mean, they’re Top Rank’s going to, you know, they lost their home with ESPN, you know, and they lost it for, you know, their own doing. They weren’t giving the fans fights consistently that were competitive fights. They were just using it as a farm system to sign guys, tell them they’re going to be on ESPN and build them up with, you know, low competition to get them to a big spot. But in the meantime, who who suffers? The fans. And the fans were like, “We had enough. We’re not watching no more.” And when the ratings started to dive, ESPN, they made a business decision. You know, we we we got to cut you loose. We’re not renewing the contract. So, well, you know, they got nine lives type prank. They they’ll be looking around for somewhere, but they’re going to have to find, I think, somewhere else to land. I mean, Facebook’s great on the social media, but I don’t know too many people that are saying, “Hey, Teddy, this Saturday, I’m going to Facebook to watch uh so and so fight.” I haven’t heard too many people say that. Yo, Tim Desert Storm Bradley, you already know the rest. They had one of these comments. Uh yesterday, uh MJ, man, MJ and Anyway, let’s talk about it. You know, they had that happen on Sunday. Not many people are talking about it, but so we f to talk about it right now. Yeah, I just got done uh I’m still on my walk, but I just got done looking at the fight and stuff like that.
