Naomi Osaka vs. Wakana Sonobe | 2025 Osaka Round 1 | WTA Match Highlights
just got the breakthrough. It’s the perfect start for the number one seed. Settle any nerves. It’s an excellent return from the teenager. No doubt would have been inspired by Naomi Saka’s performances as a young player. Well, that was pretty comfortable but very impressive from Naomi Saka through opening set against the 17-year-old junior Grand Slam champion. and she has got a game on the board. The 17-y old comfortable hold here. It’s brilliantly done again. Just long from Senob. Saka holds again. One game on Well, there’s the break. Just staying really solid there. Nia Saka didn’t do an awful lot. Has been rock solid all the way through. Setting the break now. Two games to one. expertly put away by Saka, but I tremble Oh, it’s called in. Chair umpire said it hit the line. Superb again. Superb again from Senobi. Superb from Senobi. seen so much more from her in this second set. Really encouraging a thoroughly professional performance from Naomi, the top seed through to the second round, defeating the 17-year-old wild card who has so much promise. is only just starting out of the four-time Grand Slam champion. This was the kind of performance she’d have been looking for here on day one. Straight sets, [Applause] not always straightforward. Safely into round two. Six love 64.

It feels so good and like a return to innocence to see an all green court after so long. I literally did a double take and checked the year to see if its present day.
Osaka’s new coach still with her or she’s just playing by herself ?
Ōsaka seemed to have played this match just above the level of the opponent. Strategic calibration?
I spent way too much time trying to find the name of this tournament. I was like “Yes Osaka Round 1 match but what tournament is she playing in?!” 💀😭
Wakana, sooo good!! She looked a little bit nervous at the first set, but getting better. She definitely will be a great player from now on😊
What is the name or tourney
NICE OF THE WTA TO HAVE TOURNAMENT NAMED AFTER NAOMO
Osaka wins Osaka.
I am so hoping Naomi win a couple more slams.
its like i was watching a younger lefty Osaka, well done
A good learning experience for Sonobe.
Bravo Naomi ❤❤❤❤
There is no point to give wild card if draw is bad.
First round faces experienced, and high level players.
I hoped wakana sonobe beat niomi, but she played too conservative and didn’t play that bold.
八奏ちゃんは負けてしまったけれど、なおみちゃんのプレイに合わせてきていたので、また次に対戦した時は望みがありそう👍
Naomi Osaka, why didn't you answer the interviewer after the match in Japanese because your Mom is Japanese ?
Naomi Osaka, you should have answered the interviewer in Japanese after the match. I think you can speak Japanese.
Who made these ridiculous highlights??? Randome unforced errors wth
Wakana got a tough lesson, but gained experience. She knows what it takes now to be able to go at it with Osaka, and other top players.
Naomi looks focus and locked in.
I was really disappointed when Osaka lost to Vicki M. from Canada and in her speech never said one word of acknowledgment. I see her differently now.
なおみちゃん、黄色のウェア似合うよね
love the court color. old vibes but still comfort in the eyes
園部さん、試合後の握手時、大坂への敬意を示して欲しかったな。
大坂さんって引退したのかと思ってた😮まだ現役なんだ
とりあえず…Kei頑張れ
The serves and forehand strikes of Naomi Osaka are really mind-blowing. Whenever she proves her personal traits, Osaka can utterly convert into an insurmountable tennis competitor against a variety of rivals. I am certain that the professional Japanese tennis player will become a huge menace to the seeded-players with her consistent upturn.
… Well I'm so sad for her injury 😭 but it was for the best what she did, I wish her a good recovery and a happy birthday (I'm late I know). I hope she's going to enjoy !
