角田裕毅「新型フロントウイングが助けになるはず」F1アメリカGP前 インタビュー日本語訳~ラッセルはメルセデスとの契約でニコニコ~【eruzu F1情報局】#F1 #formula1 #角田裕毅

[Music] is mech. I think Singapore because the the race weekend I I think struggle especially in the short run I would say but also bless you. Thank you. We’ve been at the horses. Yeah. Um what do I say? Yes. And uh I think didn’t get probably lucky with the you know like some red flags in FP1 to FP3. get compromised a little bit in FP3 normally to focus on short run but you have to still do long run and I think that a little bit compromised a little bit but um especially in in the still this situation that you want to build the confidence uh with this LB21 and also each track feels like a new new track you know is um even though you have a lot of experience uh with the new car so but yeah also something that I can learn from uh race weekend especially the short run prep in outlap I think what I could have done better but also yeah I think it’s always it’s it’s tough that you’re not able to perform as as you wanted in short run but uh it’s part of the journey to to be better in the future and um that’s what I’m working on hard um last two races and uh at least knowing that you know you’re able to have you have a now decent I would say long on pace. It helps my kind of mentality. Now I can focus more towards short run. Um even though I still have to Yeah. So um good. You have only one faster slop in your career here in the United States in the circuit of the Americas. Any chances to uh get another one with the with the team A of the organization by any chance? I have fastest SL in the race. Um but yeah um uh this a track that I like and uh it’s spring race spring qualifying race that you know you don’t have much time for practicing the track everything but having this kind of good good confidence with the track but just yeah it’s a that’s positive and what I have to do is uh to build a build understanding about this car and just put it all together combining with short run and long run which I’m working on Tell us how are you thinking about the weekend? Um, did you try you ran Singapore with the lower downforce front wing, the old one? I think Max had the one with the uh with the extra big kind of bits on the flaps of the I don’t know what the the technical term is. Did you try that? I don’t think you tried it in a t do you want to try that? Is there one available for you? Yeah, definitely. um that especially those looks like seems like I improve um especially in that the track that you want to have rotation and exactly what I was missing in the short run in qualifying uh in the Singapore. So I’m sure that that area that from wing show will help but uh yeah um not sure what exactly the numbers in terms of differences but um yeah shouldn’t be that huge but um something that I wanted to have you know to to add some more rotation in the car which uh which I was almost uh maxed out without those uh those tools but um yeah I think uh I just gonna give the best with the the things I haven’t um I think I’m still enjoying the progress and I I think there are lot lot of room that I can improve for myself as a driving the confidence in the car. So I think um that’s a priority. George win in Singapore and a new contract. It’s been quite the couple of weeks for you. What can you tell us about the contract? How long is it and how challenging were negotiations to this point? Oh, it’s a long one. I think about 52 pages roughly. Very good answer, George. I think you know what I meant. How many years are we talking? Uh yeah, definitely 2026. Uh no, no, no. It’s a multi-year obviously uh contract is a very sort of private and personal thing. So of course, you know, I’m not going to be uh showing what uh every single detail, but you know, for me looking into next year, there was a lot of things I wanted off track to get right to allow me to perform at my very best on track. Um, and the truth is if every single seat was available and I could choose any single seat to race for in 2026, I would choose to be with Mercedes. So, I truly think that is the place that will give me the best chance of winning the world championship next year. Uh, with everything I know now, you know, we might turn out to be wrong, but with everything we know now, uh, I’m feeling really happy with with the deal we’ve done. um confident with the team and and looking forward to moving onwards and upwards. George, I’m assuming you’ve kept your options open when it comes to the future um after next year and seeing who’s at the top of the pack, but when it comes to actually managing you and Toto and the contracts and how that all falls into place, you’ve said in the past it wasn’t a very easy union because you’re negotiating with your own manager. Yeah. So, what have you done to try and resolve that going forward and how is that going to play out in the future? I mean, I’m not going to go into details on that, but um I think I think in for any team driver combination um a driver needs to be happy and feel um they sort of got the support of the team uh behind you to allow you to deliver your best. I think that goes, you know, in any single industry. You look at football with the manager player or in F1 with the boss and the drivers and and vice versa. And, you know, we’ve got this this common goal of of winning and bringing Mercedes back on top. And Toto has been very generous with uh, you know, the proposal and he didn’t need to be h if he wanted to have been much harsher. Um but he hasn’t because he recognized like he wants to reward me for the job I’ve done and he wants to make sure that I’m in the best place possible for the upcoming year and and that’s what he’s done. So that’s why I’m here with a smile on my face and excited for uh for the future. You dominate the Singapore Grand Prix. You hold off everybody else. You win brilliantly. Then everyone’s asking why it’s only a a one-year contract. What’s going on? Is it is it just a one-year contract? It’s a multi-year. That’s what the said it was for 2026. You’re saying it’s for more than that. I didn’t say that. I just said is it? Well, I you’ve signed it. I hope you know. But isn’t the point about whatever contract lengths is that if it comes to next year and the Mercedes, you say you’d rather be in a Mercedes than anyone else next year and they have a good car capable of winning a championship. If you then win the championship, then that makes it it’s all in your hands is what I’m saying. Basically, I think it’s always for every driver is always in your hands. I mean, for me, I’m just very happy to be with Mercedes going into next year. It’s it’s the best. If I could stand here today and could choose any single team to race with for 2026 and beyond with the new regulations and with everything we know now, I would choose to be with Mercedes. And that isn’t out of loyalty or what they’ve uh given me the chance or the faith in in the past. That’s because I believe my best chance of winning next year is with Mercedes. So, I’m I’m really happy about that. and excited for the future. Three of your five wins uh were in America. So, if I give you an option, just one option between the US and the next round in Mexico City, which one do you prefer to win? Uh I mean, right now I’m thinking about uh this weekend here in Austin. But for me, a winner is if you disregard like if I the one race I want to win is my home race. Um, and then after that, you know, it’s of course you want to win the big one. Las Vegas was a really special one. Monaco is a special one, but every single race is special when every race you win, it brings you these memories. So whether it’s here or Mexico or wherever special any special memory for the Mexican Grand Prix? Uh, I think probably my first year in Mexico on the driver’s parade, just see going into the baseball arena, seeing all of the fans and the sort of festivities. It was a really incredible atmosphere. So, Mexico is a place I really enjoy going to. Foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Hey, Heat. [Music]
