for the first day in the car in Mexico. How would you sum that up from your side? Fairly happy with this uh Friday. I would say it’s been a while that I had this kind of uh overall quite consistent uh Friday uh overall. So I’m pretty happy with it. Um I think um something to we can improve especially in long run but also in short run as well. But um recently in a in better position I would say so far the Friday. You feel like you’re moving in the right direction with it. You mentioned both the short and long runs there trying to find that balance between the two. You feel like you’re getting on top of it. Yeah, it’s not easy. Um lot of things that we are we have to look at and um something to optimize for sure for tomorrow. Yeah, I mean generally balance is okay. Um struggling mainly um with but one especially one a standing limitation but um I think it was kind of traditional for this this track and yeah especially uh the Ferrari seems good at those those things. So um we have to find the compromise and I think uh whatever we can yeah uh increase the strength of the car. Um we try we try to look at it. Second FP1 for you of the season. And I know it’s not about outright lap times all the time, but you must be pretty pleased to have ended that one in the top six. Yeah, it was uh it was good. I mean, um yeah, going into the session, it was a bit I was quite nervous. Uh obviously also because of the the situation we’re in at the moment with the championship and stuff. So, it was even more important not to make any mistakes or do any damage. Um so, yeah, I mean to be honest, I was just focused on trying to keep it clean and give good feedback. So, uh also to be towards the front end of the time sheets and um yeah, it was really good. Think you picked up a little warning though for a bit of impeding at one point. Just how hard is it to kind of have eyes in the back of your head out there during an FP1 session? Yeah, it was uh it was really difficult. I mean, it was super messy. Um I think we’re quite often out of sequence and then there’s guys doing long runs and it’s just it’s really not easy on pretty short track. Um so yeah, it wasn’t easy and especially as a rookie, there’s a lot of things to deal with. Um, so yeah, I can do a bit. I think I’ve got a bit of work to do on that side, but uh, yeah, it wasn’t easy, but yeah, it’s You mentioned the pressure though of the situation right now. And what was the feedback from the team of the work you did with Max’s car in that session? I think they were quite happy. I mean, um, yeah, I think the pace was decent. It’s back in one piece. I think they they thought my feedback was was solid as well. So, I mean, I think from my side, there’s not really much more I can do. Just trying to point them in a good direction. Uh, we’ll see now what Matt says, but seems like it wasn’t too bad. Um, so yeah, we’ll see. But I think they’re overall quite happy. Another FP1 session in the books for you. How was that for you today? Uh, yeah, good session. Uh, we have done quite good uh program with some um like setup uh items uh and also I had a good amount of marriage through the session. So it was uh for sure good session for me and good session for the team. Uh it was quite tricky with the traffic as usual in this track but today was my first time to drive this year’s car and also the track was first time. So yeah I’ve got a new experience for sure. Uh and I’ve learned some new things as well from the team and from the engineers. So yeah it was good experience. You feel like you got some valuable lessons from it. uh you know in terms of what you can take back to the simulator for example and just generally fulfilling your role for the team. Um yeah uh you know always the sim is not perfect uh compared to the real car but still uh it was good reference for me uh and today’s experience should should be very useful for my the future with the simulator work uh and hopefully you know I will get the next opportunity uh to jump in the car again and for sure I will be able to do even better for sure. Uh yeah and in terms of the I think uh what I was doing so far with the simulator and with the team I think it was all helpful uh and useful for today’s session to see you see you another practice session under your belt. How was that for you today? Um I would say it was quite tricky. Um it was you know 20 cars in such a short track and also was my first time to drive this truck. So was everything was step by step you know learning the track. Um but uh at at the end I was managed to do all the program we wanted and yeah was pretty good. You’ve had a few FP1 sessions now in F1 machinery. Just how useful are they in terms of fulfilling your role and getting everything out of it back at the factory as well? Um it’s really nice opportunity but uh at the same time it’s very um you know challenging to get used to the guard to the truck track just 1 hour but uh yeah I’m getting very good opportunity and I can do another one in Abu Dhabi so yeah I can’t wait. Great to see you your F1 practice debut in an Aston Martin. Sum it all up for us. How was it? Yeah it was a great session great day. Um, yeah, been a while since I drove a car. Been over a month. So, it was good to get back in the car and uh absolutely loved it. I mean, every time I I drive the Formula 1 car is a it’s an amazing time. And of course, here on the the Grand Prix weekend and and you know, in front of the the whole world a whole whole world is super cool. Um, and yeah, it was a tricky one. There was lots of traffic, lots going on. Um, but yeah, I think we managed it well and had a clean session. some test mileage under your belt before all of this, of course, but just how valuable is it to be out there in an official practice session? Yeah. In terms of providing feedback and correlating everything as well. Yeah, super super valuable for for me and the team. You know, they really wanted to to get me in so I could, you know, go straight back to the simulator next week and and give, you know, proper correlation for that and and try and improve the the simulator as much as possible. I think that’s kind of the main, you know, aim at the moment with with me doing the session and and just, you know, getting more laps in the car, understanding what, you know, Fernando and Lance feel and, you know, when they get their feedback and understanding, you know, what’s needed for for the simulator as well. Couple of rounds to go in F2, of course, but how are you feeling generally about the future with Aston Martin and I guess itching to get out on track again? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I I can’t wait for for the next one. Um, you know, I’m excited for for the end of the F2 season, but also excited for, you know, my uh my future. You know, will be my last year in F2. So, you know, I’ll be hopefully around this paddic mode. interview.

  3. 金曜日にバタバタしなかったという事は持ち込みセットアップが正しかったのでしょうね。
    これはメキースさん効果とマックス&角田くんのフィードバックの結果だと良いですね。来期のマシンを熟成改良するにあたりドライバーからの的確なフィードバックが必要と上層部が気付いてくれればワンチャン角田くん残留の目が…と妄想してしまいます。

    フロアもショートではタイム出る状態。

  11. 今日はCSでセッション観てたんですが、FP1が山本さんとテツ爺の音声が小さくてほぼエンジン音でした🤣
    今回はなんとか6番手位のポジションとって欲しいですね〜
    また結局マックス同じ車じゃないみたいですが…

  12. フジテレビnextでの放送でFP1を観てたら、なんかコメンタリーの声が聞き取りづらいと思ってたら、やはりフジテレビnextのHPに音声トラブルだったようです。再放送で改善されたのを観れるようです。
    角田もまぁまぁ良い金曜日になって安定してましたし、インタビューも明るい。明朝の予選はマックスにどれくらい縮めることができるか見ものですね!コンマ3くらいはいけますかね?
