The 70's and 80's were sort of "good, prosper" times in Venezuela. We got an infusion of all things cultural from the rest of the world back then. I am positive this is the original and Unicornio came up with its own version. Some people think this is the song that won them the 1982's OTI (Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana) but it's not. The winning song was called "Puedes contar conmigo."
Those backup dancers are wearing white swimsuits and black jackets. How sexy and pretty they are! At that time, Japan was already quite different from many other conservative Asian countries.
I cringe when I see he dances so wildly with that long mike cable trailing all over him. When wasn't he given a wireliess mike? It was already widely available then. Many other singers used wireless that yr!
I was in Tokyo in 5th Grade and remember watching this on NHK New Year's Eve (Kouhaku Utagassen) – he was the "top batter" for the White Team — man, this song was playing EVERYWHERE like ALL THE TIME that year and the year after.😄👍Beautiful melody – thanks for the upload – this was real PEAK JAPAN from Showa Era – you had the Trio with Matchy, Toshi, Yoshi. And around that time Julie and Go Hiromi were also going strong with TOKIO, S.T.R.I.P.P.E.R., and Oyome Samba – and among the girls you had Matsuda Seiko. 82-83 was Terao Akira with Seibu Keisatsu and "Ruby no Yubiwa" -Manzai had hit its peak with Two Beats and B&B,, Zenin Shugo and Hyoukinzoku were making everyone laugh, Chiyonofuji destroyed everyone in the sumo ring… life was good…. everything went downhill after that.
