    A lot of people started blasting Naomi that she doesn't know how to play tennis after her loss at Indian Wells. On the contrary, she's played well especially this year from Auckland n AO. She's proved she can win consistent matches against some top contenders on tour. I don't want to over state her as GS champion yet for this year but I think a masters 1000 or 500 is on its way.

    Not the prettiest win but she got it done. I was very impressed with her coming back from a set down and 4-2 down to win the second set and dominate the third set. Hopefully she'll be able to clean up her game for her match against Liudmila Samsonova on Friday.

    I wonder if people realize what the name "Starodubstewa" may mean in Slavic languages. When I first saw the name I could not believe it.

    This sounds strange but Osaka always plays better with her hair up like in a bun and no braids or natural.
    And she got rid of that thing that she was with….
    Love watching Osaka doung better….

    It’s very difficult to watch Osaka when her game isn’t working. I had to turn off the TV early in the third set and glad to see she actually won! 😂

    The downfall of Osaka from the top is pretty startling, and it wasn't because of a physical injury. I think the combination of stardom and high expectations combined with high income got to her. Or may be she got just too comfortable financially that she didn't think working that hard was worth it and changed her life priorities. Either way, seems a bit of a waste of talent.

    Osaka's strokes are the ugliest uncoordinated looking swings in the game. It's amazing she can keep the ball in the court. It must be hard to play her when you have to look at those strokes.

    Good win mentally but Osaka has a long way to go before recapturing her best tennis. And first staying injury free because that is really what has been holding her back.

    It’s a start for Osaka. Still doesn’t look like she has anywhere near the power to dominate matches the way she used to. This was the #1 player in the world and a multiple GS winner, not some journeywoman. I wonder if she can ever get that back?
