Oyakata) You get hurt because you fall like that! Syunrai) Thank you for the practice! Staff) It’s raining again today. Kokuryunami) Yes, it’s raining. Staff) It’s cold but you’re in short sleeves? Kokuryunami) This outfit is easier to work in. Staff) Where is the rice? Tokokei) We have plenty here. Staff) Now begins the hell of washing rice? Tokokei) Yes, it’s cold today, isn’t it? Staff) Yesterday was miso, so today is soy sauce? Kokuryunami) Yes. Staff) What else are you making? Kokuryunami) What should I make… Kokuryunami) Chicken, chicken, pork. Staff) What time did you go to sleep last night? Kokuryunami) I don’t know. Staff) Did you fall asleep without realizing? Kokuryunami) Yes, I fell asleep without realizing. Kokuryunami) When I noticed, it was around 5 o’clock. Staff) That’s why you don’t know what time you slept. Kokuryunami) The lights in the room were turned off. Kokuryunami) I was on my phone for a bit. Kokuryunami) I don’t remember anything after that. Staff) You played Smash Bros yesterday, right? Staff) After that? Staff) Did you play for a while? Kokuryunami) No, I didn’t. Kokuryunami) Are we playing today? Staff) I’d like to play today. Staff) Everyone is here today, so we’ll probably play. Staff) Smash Bros tournament! Kokuryunami) I wonder what I should do. I’m not very good. Staff) Kokuryunami will join with Pikachu! Kokuryunami) No, I don’t use Pikachu when playing for fun. Staff) What character does Tokokei use? Tokokei) Bowser. Tokokei) Or Luigi. Staff) What games are you good at? Tokokei) I played a bit of Pokémon. Staff) Does Kokuryunami usually help with the mawashi in the morning? Kokuryunami) In Osaka, yes. Kokuryunami) In Tokyo, everyone puts them on at the practice room. Kokuryunami) First, I’ll use chicken and onions for one dish. Kokuryunami) The ultimate hint: chicken, onion, and eggs. Kokuryunami) A dish using these three ingredients. Kokuryunami) I’m making it in a pot. Tokokei) I got it! Staff) What? Tokokei) Oyakodon (parent-and-child bowl). Staff) Oyakodon, I see. Tokokei) Actually, Kazuto… Staff) Why? Does Kazuto like it? Tokokei) It’s Kazuto’s specialty dish. Kokuryunami) For the pork, maybe a stir-fry. Kokuryunami) I’m making the sauce. Kokuryunami) This and chicken. Staff) My guess is yangnyeom chicken. Kokuryunami) Oh! I see! Staff) What would you call this dish? Kokuryunami) I haven’t thought of a name. Kokuryunami) I’m just making it up as I go. Staff) Can you cut it? Kokuryunami) Sure. Kokuryunami) Now let’s begin. Staff) Here are the seasonings. Staff) Is this just for the wrestlers today? Kokuryunami) Yes. Staff) But isn’t it smaller than usual? Kokuryunami) Yes, it’s smaller. Staff) Because of the oyakodon? Kokuryunami) No, this has been the portion size in Osaka recently. Kokuryunami) Tokokei, taste the pot. Tokokei) On cold days like this, hot pot is the best. Kokuryunami) I can’t eat it, but… Kokuryunami) I’d like to try making stir-fried liver and chives. Kokuryunami) I can’t eat it, but I want to make it. Staff) But you can’t taste it? Kokuryunami) Tokokei can taste it for me. Staff) I want to have a Chinese feast next time. Kokuryunami) What would that be? Sweet and sour pork and…? Staff) Sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu… Staff) Fried rice. Kokuryunami) What should we do today? Staff) Tonight? Staff) Today, I would like omurice, please. Staff) The long-awaited omurice! Kokuryunami) Then there’s just one ingredient we’re missing. Staff) What? Kokuryunami) Consommé. Kokuryunami) I can make it if we have consommé. Kokuryunami) Maybe Kitadaichi will make it. Kokuryunami) Kitadaichi is pretty good at cooking. Kokuryunami) Was the latest video you uploaded the yakiniku one? Staff) Yes, the yakiniku one. Kokuryunami) Someone who came to eat chanko mentioned it. Kokuryunami) I haven’t watched it. Kokuryunami) I don’t like seeing myself on video. Kokuryunami) I might watch the practice videos. Staff) Because you’re not in them? Kokuryunami) Because I’m not in them. Kokuryunami) I’ll make oyakodon. Kokuryunami) Instead of oyakodon, should I make tanindon? Staff) Tanindon? Staff) What is tanindon again? Kokuryunami) Using pork instead of chicken. Tokokei) Like a cousin bowl. Kokuryunami) There’s no such thing. Tokokei) There is a cousin bowl! Tokokei) Using duck or wild duck meat instead of chicken. Kokuryunami) That’s still poultry. Tokokei) That’s why it’s a cousin bowl. Kokuryunami) The croquettes have arrived. Kokuryunami) Are you going to Kyushu too? Staff) Yes, we’re going to Kyushu too. Staff) Is it much smaller than Osaka? Kokuryunami) Yes, it’s really small. Kokuryunami) We don’t practice outside there. Kokuryunami) They have gas burners set up like this. Kokuryunami) Next to that is… Kokuryunami) A hallway, and… Kokuryunami) Next to the hallway is the door. Kokuryunami) You could film it if you wanted to. Oyakata) The croquettes are here. Staff) Is that chrysanthemum greens for the finishing touch? Kokuryunami) Yes. Kokuryunami) We didn’t have scissors. Kokuryunami) Soy sauce broth definitely needs chrysanthemum greens. Staff) What did you add before the soy sauce? Kokuryunami) Mirin and sugar. Staff) Are you sneaking a taste of the croquettes? Kokuryunami) I just wanted to eat one. Staff) Is it done? Staff) Wow! Looks delicious! Oyakodon Complete Mealtime Begins Kiryuko) This is nametake (marinated mushrooms). Kiryuko) Thank you for the meal. Staff) Because you worked hard today. Kiryuko) I worked hard today. Kiryuko) Look at this. Kiryuko) Kiryuko’s special. Kiryuko) Let’s eat! Kitadaichi) This is black shichimi that was given to us. Staff) It definitely goes well with oyakodon. Kitadaichi) Kyoto’s black shichimi. Staff) Looks delicious. Kitadaichi) Delicious! Kiryuko) Delicious! Kitadaichi) Sugar natto. Staff) Let’s have Kiryuko taste the sugar natto. Kiryuko) No way! Kiryuko) But speaking of sugar… Kiryuko) In my home, we eat tomatoes with sugar. Kiryuko) We eat tomatoes with sugar. Staff) He’s distributing mitarashi dango (laughs). Kitadaichi) Delicious! Kiryuko) Wow… Kiryuko) May I have a bite? Kiryuko) Scary! Staff) It’s a bit scary, isn’t it? Kiryuko) I don’t like it. Kiryuko) It’s not bad, but not great. Kiryuko) For a side dish, I think salty is better. Kitadaichi) For me, it depends on my mood. Kitadaichi) Sometimes I add sugar, sometimes I don’t. Kitadaichi) It’s random. Staff) I wonder why tomatoes with sugar? Kiryuko) In my family, tomatoes are fruit. Kiryuko) We have tomatoes for dessert. Kiryuko) So we put sugar on tomatoes. Kiryuko) Salt was shocking to me. Kiryuko) When I went to an izakaya, Kiryuko) They had chilled tomatoes, right? Kiryuko) I ordered them thinking they’d come with sugar. Kiryuko) I put it on and it was salt! Kiryuko) And mayonnaise too. Kiryuko) That’s unbelievable. Staff) Wow, what an atmosphere (laughs). Kitadaichi) Sometimes salt, sometimes sugar? Kiryuko) It’s random. Kitadaichi) Delicious~ Syunrai) I’m embarrassed to have my middle-shaved head seen. Syunrai) I seriously feel like I’m being seen naked. Kitadaichi) Then what did you do when you had a buzz cut? Kitadaichi) Did you think you were completely naked? Syunrai) A buzz cut isn’t embarrassing. Syunrai) Having just the middle missing is embarrassing. Staff) Do you have to remove this part to tie the topknot? Syunrai) For people with a lot of hair, Syunrai) Like Kitadaichi who has a lot of hair, Syunrai) His middle-shave is quite big. Syunrai) Making the middle-shave bigger makes the topknot thinner. Syunrai) Kitadaichi is No.1. Staff) Where does this hair come from? Syunrai) From around the sides. Syunrai) Tsukubayama also has a middle-shave. Tokokei) It’s growing out though. Staff) You have to use clippers for this? Tsukubayama) Yes. Syunrai) Our stable has many people with a lot of hair. Syunrai) My hair is freshly washed now. Syunrai) I washed my hair today, so I’m applying oil all over. Staff) Do you use more oil on the days you wash? Syunrai) Yes. Staff) Normally just on the surface? Syunrai) Yes. Staff) By the way, you washed your hair today because… Staff) The practice was intense? Syunrai) There was a lot of sand in it. Syunrai) I was thinking it was about time to wash it anyway. Staff) When sand gets in it, you have to wash it. Staff) After falling that much… Syunrai) It was tough. Syunrai) The toughest in my life. Staff) Does getting water on your face turn on a switch? Syunrai) No, I was just thirsty. Syunrai) I felt the water running down was a waste. Syunrai) I wanted it in my mouth. Staff) Today was focused on the Sakamoto brothers. Syunrai) I was thinking, “Please stop!” Staff) Even filming it, I felt like I was going to collapse. Syunrai) I was seriously losing consciousness. Staff) There was a period when it was really bad. Syunrai) My legs had no strength. Staff) Today was really intense. Staff) I’ve never seen such intense practice before. Kiryuko) From other stables’ perspective, Kiryuko) They’d wonder what we’re complaining about. Syunrai) These are my chopsticks. Syunrai) I went to buy a Yokozuna rice bowl. Syunrai) They were selling chopsticks too, so I thought I’d buy them. Syunrai) A really nice old man said, Syunrai) “You can pay when you become successful.” Syunrai) Osaka is truly a city of kindness. Staff) So you don’t use those green onion chopsticks anymore? Syunrai) I don’t use those anymore. Syunrai) I bought those in Kyoto. Staff) A generational change! Syunrai) Yes. Staff) Don’t you use sugar on normal fruits? Kiryuko) Never. Kiryuko) For strawberries, I use a lot of condensed milk. Kiryuko) At strawberry picking, I use about 2 bottles. Staff) You bring it with you? Kiryuko) I bring it myself. Kiryuko) I drink condensed milk while eating strawberries. Syunrai) He really has a sweet tooth. Staff) Both Japanese and Western sweets? Kiryuko) I prefer Western. I love custard. Syunrai) But you like zenzai (sweet red bean soup), right? Kiryuko) I love Akafuku. Staff) Akafuku is good. Kiryuko) I always eat it when I go to Nagoya. Kiryuko) Thank you for the meal. Meisei) Aren’t they unresponsive? (laughs) Staff) Is this from your hometown? Yukiamami) Yes. Staff) Did Meisei get this? Meisei) From my support club. Yukiamami) I often go tankan orange picking. Staff) Are there fruits all over the place? Yukiamami) Some people have orchards. Yukiamami) I often made juice from them. Yukiamami) My mother often made tankan orange bavarian cream. Staff) Is Syunrai also into darts? Syunrai) I was influenced. Syunrai) I went and found it fun. Staff) Who’s the best? Syunrai) Taranami is really good. Syunrai) I went with him the other day. Syunrai) Taranami is the best. Staff) Is this a fattening meal today? Kazuto) Today is a fattening meal. Syunrai) I’m already full. I wanna sleep. Staff) What works best when you’re extremely tired? Syunrai) Sleep. Staff) What about sauna? Syunrai) I go to the sauna too. Syunrai) I haven’t gone yet in Osaka. Akua) Syunrai doesn’t like sauna that much. Syunrai) I love sauna! Staff) You don’t? Akua) It’s not a big deal. Akua) He’s so-so, so-so. Syunrai) Akua is a real sauna enthusiast. Akua) I’m still a beginner. Staff) Do you always do 3 cycles? Akua) No, when it’s serious, 5-6 cycles. Akua) I once stayed in for 2 hours in one day. Staff) That place in Soka… Akua) I go to Soka Health Center. I love it. Staff) That intense heat wave… Akua) I love the blast Löyly. Akua) I want Syunrai to go there once. Syunrai) I’ll leave right away! Akua) You’ll seriously scream. Staff) But there are a lot of professional sauna-goers. Staff) So the atmosphere is good. Akua) The atmosphere there is good. Syunrai) I recently went to something sauna-like for the first time. Syunrai) It was amazing. Syunrai) Everyone seemed to be seeking only “totonou” (the perfect sauna state). Syunrai) The Löyly master was waving like a dancer. Staff) You eat very deliciously. Syunrai) I’ve never had UFO (instant yakisoba). Okaryu) Yeah, right. Syunrai) I’ve only tried Peyoung and Gotsumori. Staff) You’re often eating yakisoba in videos. Syunrai) What kind of yakisoba do you like, Kazuto? Kazuto) Maruchan. Okaryu) The one you make yourself? Kazuto) Isn’t it tastier than cup noodles? Okaryu) This is my favorite. Staff) That’s completely different! (laughs) Staff) I thought we were talking about yakisoba. Staff) But do you really like that? Okaryu) I drink it all the time. Syunrai) For health reasons? Okaryu) Of course. Juice is not good for you. Syunrai) Wherever Okaryu goes, Syunrai) He orders sparkling water. Syunrai) Basically sparkling water, right? Staff) Are you really health-conscious? Okaryu) Yes. Okaryu) I want something stimulating for my throat. Okaryu) But juice isn’t good for you. Staff) So you’re not just eating and drinking whatever. Staff) You’re actually being careful. Okaryu) So in college, I had a sparkling water maker. Okaryu) I made my own sparkling water. Okaryu) I got it as a birthday present. Staff) Aren’t these strawberries big? Syunrai) They’re huge. Syunrai) Delicious! Syunrai) How was my snoring? Staff) It was intense. Kazuto) How about Okaryu? Staff) You were surprisingly okay. Staff) The CPAP sound… Staff) It was making a whooshing sound. Syunrai) Periodically making that sound. Syunrai) I want to try a CPAP. Staff) What kind of system is that? Okaryu) You put it over your nose, right? Okaryu) Air is automatically sent to your nose. Syunrai) For overweight people, flesh blocks the airway during sleep. Staff) I see, like sleep apnea syndrome. Syunrai) It forcibly sends air through. Okaryu) It makes your nasal passages really clear. Syunrai) You fall asleep instantly. Okaryu) The quality of sleep when you wake up is different. Staff) You should definitely use it. Okaryu) I wonder why I didn’t use it earlier. Staff) Is Okaryu the only one using it? Syunrai) Kiryuko uses it too. Okaryu) About half the people use it. Okaryu) Well, not that many. About a third. Kazuto) I stopped using it. Staff) It didn’t suit you? Kazuto) I couldn’t sleep. Staff) Having something attached to your mouth would make that hard. Syunrai) It’s shocking to be told that you snore. Okaryu) Especially when sleeping with a girl. Syunrai) I don’t know since I’ve never slept with a girl. Okaryu) I’ve only slept with my mother. Syunrai) That’s impossible! (laughs) Okaryu) I’ve only slept with my mother! Honest! Syunrai) Don’t call your mother a girl! Staff) You know what he means. Okaryu) I’d hate to snore. Syunrai) Are we talking about fantasies? Staff) So you need a CPAP. Okaryu) But then again… Okaryu) I’d also hate wearing a CPAP when sleeping with a girl. Staff) Making those sounds too. Syunrai) Like Darth Vader! Great Spirit! and great encouragement from Oyakata!!
Feel exhausted just watching them. Used to do the push for football practice. It wears down strength and stamina very fast.
Fantastic workout guys…I am so proud of you all…hope to see all of you meet up with success in the coming basho…love and admiration from Colorado!
5 more times??? That poor baby!!! 🙂
I am like 99% sure these full exhaustion trainings are useless, in fact there will be no improvement in the muscles if you make a person who can barely stand on his feet suffer like that
Shout out to chanko chef kokuryunami, he’s an one man army in the kitchen🫡 also big respect to the stable.May their hard work pay off at the next Basho!💪🏾
Hello lads excellent training…Angie in Scotland ❤
bro oh my gosh
Oyakata: “Keep going until you win five in a row.”
Me: I’m about to see a man die.
Where's Hoshoryu?
if this was done in the u.s., they will cry about abuse and toxic work environment😂 no wonder so many young men in the u.s. are weak both physically and mentally, gay, change their gender, furry, mentally ill, depressed, incel, toxic, misogynistic, etc. i've been to japan and the u.s., and i saw the clear difference in men in both countries.
Why when a practice bout is over, other rikishi follow the winner?
These videos and them have officially became my favs to watch
