“そっくり”を捨てたら、絵が生き返った。自由すぎる水彩風景の描き方

Hi, Hello, this is Shibasaki How are you? How are you? That’s great! Shibasaki too Thanks to you, as you can see I’m happily drawing again today Thank you so much Speaking of thanks, you always watch Shibasaki’s videos, and I receive a lot of comments and high ratings I really appreciate it Oh, right
The number of subscribers is about to increase It’s kind of gradually, you know We are getting close to 2 million people At this point, I really want to see the number reach 2 million If I could get your cooperation, I would be very happy Yes Now, the theme for this time is Shibasaki will unilaterally review and revise your drawing This is the beginning of the correction corner This time, the work is… Hosted by Shibasaki Online I would like to choose from the works of the members of ShibARTS ShibARTS is really something, you know Once a month, I have a drawing study session with Shibasaki I’ve really gotten better online, you know So, you see, It was the same last time, but I get asked, ‘Where do I need to fix it?’ I might not know this time either It seems like she’s become a strong rival rather than just one of Shibasaki’s students But I wonder what kind of picture it is I would like to give it my all and try it out right away Yes, please take your time to look at it Alright, let’s take a look now I wonder whose painting this is Hiromi-san “It’s titled ‘At the Embankment'” I took a walk near the levee on Sunday, so I tried drawing it My range of activities is limited, so I often visit similar places, but for some reason, the embankment makes me feel at ease That’s true about going for a walk I usually walk around similar places near my house For some reason, you say that the embankment makes you feel at ease This time, I’ve sealed the green paint again I see, you haven’t used it It says that the perspective might be different when compared with the photo The curve of the river is quite different, isn’t it? You don’t notice it when you try to draw Let’s start with a sketch I have also expressed my reflections I wonder what kind of picture it is So this is the kind of place, huh? I see This is perfect for a stroll It must be a river It must feel nice to take a walk in a place like this I wonder what this is in front of me So, it’s that a flower like nazuna is blooming, huh? So that’s why the river has been going over there Well then, I see, that makes sense That’s definitely a bit of a concern As you said, this is the shape of the river, right? First of all, These things are actually quite difficult, even though they seem easy It’s definitely a bit obvious from the photo I understand that there is still room for improvement in the design In the photos, the shoreline here looks much longer, doesn’t it? Let’s make use of this kind of thing This sense of distance and things like that Or it draws you in deeply into the screen I think it would be great if I could draw something amazing like that It’s skillful to depict while sealing in the green of such plants, but… This might be better placed a little more towards the center of the screen I think that might be able to highlight the point of the painting, at least for now I think the most important aspect of this painting is the handling of light and shadow Regarding that point, I would like to try doing something, including what I’m talking about now Yes Well then, let’s give it a try Today, I’m going to do a little masking to clean up the area It’s called masking tape This is tape that prevents paint from spilling over Neatly masked No matter how much you edit I think I want to make it look a little nicer Is this about right? This should be enough Here we go Aspect ratio
I wonder if this is good enough When doing masking, if you press too hard, the paper will come off with it when you peel it off Just for this occasion like this I think it’s good to hold back just for this occasion That’s how it is Yes It’s tilted Please wait a moment It’s tilted, isn’t it? Is this about right? I think this is about right There are quite a few optical illusions, you know Horizontal and vertical lines can be pretty misleading too, can’t they? Yes Today, Maron-kun is once again asking to play, So, Well, I’ll draw it here It’s quite high up, isn’t it? It’s drawn around here In this way, the river is The river is flowing, but I wonder if it would be better to draw this a bit longer, like in the photo So, I just can’t help wanting to depict this river like this What is it about being human? It’s not that humans do this, but if you do it too much, you have to be careful because this river ends up looking like an uphill slope It depends on where the eye level is, but… If it’s a bit lower, then the eye level might be around here In that case, for example, if we consider this line, it means we will definitely not go above it, unless it’s a waterfall So, this needs to be drawn more like this It’s just a small thing, but you know This is actually quite important The person drawing is also thinking, ‘Is something off about this?’ I should be drawing it properly, but somehow my drawing feels strange, you know? If you think that way, then They say that if you go as far away as possible from here, it will look horizontal, so pay attention to this point I think it might be good to take a closer look at this I wonder why it is like this here This is coming more towards here I wonder if I should overlap this flower thing over here If I cut off this shape… This is interesting, isn’t it? It’s fluffy and looks like this In front of you, it looks like this, and you can see the surface of the water So this is how it is It’s all messy like this This is You’ve stacked blocks like this, huh? So that’s how it is This is how it is So you can see the house If we assume the height of this house is probably around this level, You can see the house here. The line of this roof slopes down this way, right? If you draw it properly like that It feels like looking up at the house from below You can only see a little bit from here It’s something like this It’s like this here The house is over here Is it okay to just estimate here? In this way
Something is happening like this There is grass growing on this slope, huh? Is this the shape? This is how it comes here Is it a bit more spacious? This area is a bit more spacious, isn’t it? It’s become about this size Here it comes So this is how it is Is there a paving stone here? This is facing this way, right? There is a stone here
and grass is growing around this area This is grass too So this is how it looks around here Is this how it appears? Let me show you this The bridge is built here The bridge pier is visible here and reflected here Yes Well then, shall we try drawing something like this? It’s really good, you know It’s really troublesome because it’s so good It’s not that it comes from anywhere in particular Generally, it is a bright shape or from a distant view It’s from the sky again this time Sky This is really nice, isn’t it? It’s like this yellow ochre color, you see? Like this And in a brighter shade of blue While slightly changing the color of something That’s what I’m applying, right? Like this It’s about utilizing the timing when the paint and water flow in to create the artwork I’m really glad that I got into watercolor painting, you know? It’s such a joyful moment, isn’t it? I can’t help but think how wonderful watercolor is I see what you mean You can’t experience this with other materials That’s why it’s in this color The distant view is I can see some distant scenery, huh? This is completely an effect of blurring This is how it gradually seeps over here So it’s about enjoying that kind of thing, right? It’s spreading nicely, isn’t it? It’s about enjoying that kind of thing, right? While utilizing the effect of that bleeding This way Come forward, come forward I’ll go ahead and draw it Watercolor really is interesting, isn’t it? I’m wet right now That’s quite a color With a natural blend using water It’s about creating colors Is it around here? In reality, it might also bleed too much, but I’m not sure Even so, if it wasn’t too strange, it’s important to respect those kinds of things I can’t help but want to tease it a bit What we need to do here more than anything is to draw this line on the water’s surface As I mentioned earlier, It’s very important to know which direction this is heading in Rather than the mess above, it’s more important to focus on this line on the water’s surface, right here Here The depth will be determined by this shape, so That’s the detail to focus on The most important thing to look at is about this much So, you’re coming over here just like that, right? I’m coming, but when I see this… Later, it’s in this kind of state Water is pooling If you leave this, the paper will start to stretch I can see that well It’s just a casual process like this I got a bit sidetracked, but with that said, Since it came to this, should we start with the water surface? Because I painted the sky That’s such a bright color But it’s mostly paper white. This area is already paper white This way, please Like this This area is just a little painted, so it’s the white of the paper That’s the important part So, while the paint is still wet, Even though it’s called water, you can sometimes see the soil at the bottom through it Maybe add a little bit of that color, you know? It might be better to do things like that I did it like this Next, this is where we should do wet-in-wet as a procedure For example, the lushness of the grass around here I don’t really know if it’s grass or something else, but that’s how it is, right? It’s about the way things are around here, you know? As much as possible like this When you value the effects of water and paint in creating a painting, This is an important aspect of watercolor This is how it is done In any case, it’s about mixing and blending the paint with the effect of water So, go ahead and make the dark areas really dark Like this, This means that the paint is mixed like this As you come closer, closer to me In times like this, it’s about the amount of paint and water, right? I wonder how much I should use, though And then, in places like this, there are flowers I guess it would be nice if there were some parts that were accidentally left unpainted like this It’s okay to express it that way, right? You could also do something like this with masking ink; that might be one option If you do too much of that, you know… It really makes the picture feel stiff, you know? I don’t really like Shibasaki that much Anyway, I go there and draw I think it’s okay not to make it exactly the same I believe it would be good to say something comforting to yourself and let it be heard I have to draw it exactly like that, you know? There was that, and there was this too If you think too much like this How should I put it That’s not it; you’re drawing it like this here, right? Of course, I think you’re drawing while looking at the subject But even at that time, it’s all about the fact that I’m painting here, right? So it’s not just about copying things, that’s what it means The condition over there Well, you might wonder what the point of drawing on site is, but the site is… It’s just that I’m receiving materials for drawing, and it’s not just to replicate them exactly If there’s not something like a brake prepared within myself, then… There was that, and there was this
I found this place, and it felt so good, you know? It turned into something like a treasure hunt I became completely absorbed in searching How should I depict myself in this?
What should I express? It will disappear What about that part, I wonder? Even while talking, your hands won’t stop, right? That’s right. Watercolor just keeps your hands moving, doesn’t it? Like this, When you look at it this way Of course, I do dry brushing It would be nice to have a sense of speed So it’s a bit reckless, you know? That’s the kind of place I ended up getting unexpected results, you know Then, if you see yellow, you might place a splash of yellow If it seemed like there was red over there, you could try placing red That’s the idea So instead of copying it exactly I think it’s about drawing on site to receive hints or materials there It’s a bit of everything For example, if you notice something here, you can scratch it like this Doing something like this brings out the flavor and makes it interesting But when it becomes interesting, people tend to stick with it for a long time It’s interesting, interesting, interesting, and I end up getting into it But as the saying goes, too much of anything is not good I suppose there are times when it’s just moderate So this is how it is happening The colors become more vivid as they come closer Is this okay? Then paint the other side over there The opposite shore is simplification, isn’t it? I guess the same kind of grass is growing here But isn’t it the other shore? That’s how it is Tell myself and make myself listen No, no, it may look like that, but that’s the other shore I’m telling you this isn’t the shore over here There are colors like this, but this is the opposite shore Isn’t it better to simplify it a bit? That’s how you explain it to them This is important, isn’t it? This area is Jonbrian This is a watercolor, isn’t it? If it’s an oil painting, that would be quite a challenge, wouldn’t it? You have to spread out each color one by one, you know Watercolor is all about what the water does for you, right? So it’s really about how to become friends with water, isn’t it? What is watercolor? That’s definitely it I guess this is it It means to draw by comparing it with this one What else is there? Home, perhaps? The house is basically the same color, too Here, draw the pattern like this, It’s fine if there are some random elements and some white space left on the paper How about that? The rest is about summarizing, right? If you look closely, you can see various things I can see it, but… I’ll summarize it like this It’s about not clearly distinguishing each one too much Well, how should I put it… It’s something necessary to avoid excessive explanation I wonder if this is it Thanks to you, this correction series has attracted a lot of interest from many people I wonder if it’s really interesting? It’s the roof About this much I’m really drawing a very small picture, you know About this much Did you see the house? There’s a bit of grass There’s something Draw it like this This is also a sense of perspective, isn’t it? Is this color okay? This is the kind of color, right? Like this On top of the embankment This represents the slope, which is the touch of the slope Make it gradually brighter But this pattern has to be visible, right? This is an important thing If you can’t see this pattern,
you won’t be able to see the surface of the water here That’s right So I’m drawing various things here now While drawing, my consciousness is on the other side of this embankment, which is a bit darker than the sky It’s really important that it appears in a pattern that’s darker than this This is expressed as one thing like this To express it in a way that makes it visible This is it I guess this is about it, more or less I’m putting it all together like this When this starts to look like one This area comes like this It would be good if it gets to this point like this Something around here like this What’s there? Is there something? Things that are hard to understand
are just hard to understand, right? When you put it all together
and it starts to look like one thing It’s a bit more of a red color Like this Come here Leave this part If you paint over there I wonder if this is how it is So, a pattern has been established Paint while changing the color, trying to leave this part a little bit unpainted I wonder if I can see the pattern of the embankment over there now Also, when I look at the photo, There is a shadow drawn here. This is how it looks This area is like this too It looks bright like this and such For example, something like this This is a bit dark, about this much Is the house peeking out a little like this? This area has become a bit darker This is how it is This is saying this way If you draw it like this, it can be noisy in places like this, right? For noisy areas, use this brush with such a light color Place it like this While slightly crushing it, or rather, while gathering it together This is how to hold it down Like this Well, look at that So that’s why the pattern of the embankment is clearly visible So, about that place we were just at, around here… While utilizing the blurred areas, I’ll sketch out the shape of this embankment a little But here, I won’t draw it too clearly, you know, right here Something like this What else is there? Is this what is being captured? I see So this is what is being captured
When I see this Around here This is how it is If you leave a little bit of white paper in places like this You can sometimes see something like the boundary between the water surface and what is reflected on it This part here is left a little bit as it is This means that it appears like this This is how it is Is it like this? So here, while leaving a bit of a flutter, I’ll draw like this Is this it? So that’s how you apply it It’s a bit dark, Drawing it like this… It’s a bit small, you know It’s the white of the paper around here Try to keep it well It’s a bit dark with the grass around here This is how it is It’s like this So this is how it comes here, huh? Here we are This is how it comes
The movement of water is being shown here It’s quite large in front Gradually making it smaller Wearing it like this here
and seeing it here and there Please melt this away A little integration Is this okay? Come this way Lately, I’ve been leaving a bit of white from the paper, somehow Is this the kind of feeling? Here Like the grass in front of me If it’s possible, it’s okay to do it this way, right? It’s a bit bright around here, isn’t it? Like this The difference in brightness was stronger in the foreground This has happened Something is spreading This is how it is happening It’s like a grassy area If you do it a little like this, it creates an atmosphere So it’s better to do things like this Just doing this a little bit changes the atmosphere completely The fact that there is a stone here means that… I think I’ll express myself to the fullest here Here we have something like a dry brush Like this This kind of feeling It feels like we’re connected somehow We’re connected like this You shouldn’t change such a well-done picture this much I just reflected on it while drawing a bit now Even Shibasaki, while saying it’s editing, gradually finds it more interesting and can’t stop I feel like I’m going to get scolded for not taking it seriously It’s interesting, isn’t it? Cobblestone When drawn like this I guess this is it It’s like a shadow in a place like this Drawing bumps and hollows like this Like this And then with something like this Like this, you see Just enjoying expression in a vague way, I guess It’s the atmosphere of weeds like this This way, you can see the difference in depth It’s already over, isn’t it? There are various things going on, huh? Utility poles
Utility poles are important, aren’t they? Here This is how it turned out Please draw something that looks like it’s standing up a bit Anything is fine, but it’s okay to draw it differently from reality This kind of place Like this Try pressing it like this and moving it a little further away And then This is the kind of place You don’t have to draw it perfectly I wonder what to say Like dynamic lines, you know? I think those kinds of things are important It’s not about drawing with fear, you know So this place too… This area is the starting point Draw it like this About this much Like this I want to see a little more
It’s like I’ll draw it for you I might not know if that’s important This is Here It’s like this This is Is it okay if I draw it like this with a little gap here? It’s not vertical anymore Reflection, reflection I guess it would look something like this if I draw it like this Is there anything else? Is this okay? Yes One of them is darkened This is it This is how you write it Is that so? It’s around here If we strengthen the brightness contrast around here Like this Later I think there is color in that part Like this, chasing after it and trying to add color After all When I saw it as a picture Colors should be fun, right? This kind of feeling This one stroke is important, right? This is how you apply a solid color by painting it on from above This really changes the atmosphere of the painting quite a bit, doesn’t it? I think this is about right Yes This is how it is, right? Is it about this much? Spread it out with a pop, pop, pop! Well then So it’s a good thing, right? Shall I dry it? Yes I’ll erase the unnecessary lines Look, this part is white paper About this much In places like this, where there are flowers, I wonder if there are spots of white that are opaque It’s a bit opaque, but there isn’t much Not opaque Not a little opaque That’s good, right? I understand what you’re saying Here, you see, I left some white paper behind I wonder if you can understand the intention Well then, I’ll start peeling around this Huh? It’s nice because I masked it It’s like this I’ll erase the unnecessary lines It seems that today’s corrections have turned out a bit formal Well, it’s really delicious Here This is the pattern, right? Dark pattern Value the pattern This is the kind of display area, right? This one too, a little bit I overlapped a little more towards the inside That’s about it. I really think it’s drawn well So, overall, you see Yes, that’s all Yes
It’s finished This is it, right? Because you were really good at it Shibasaki had a really tough time, you know But I’m happy, you know To the members of ShibARTS, keep improving your skills! I am really happy Now, I have a little announcement to make Well, I think I’ll do this first Yes It’s the familiar art crayon again Shibasaki holds a class once a month using this art crayon You already know, right? The location is in Tokyo It’s a truly wonderful classroom inside Pentel’s headquarters So, with this crayon set of 8 colors plus 1 color, Fun drawing at each moment We’re doing it together You don’t need to bring anything when you come If you come, I’ll give you a box of these crayons as a gift Of course, I’ll include all the paper too Once it’s finished, you can securely put it in a holder and take it home Please come light and easy Let’s draw together with Shibasaki I will be waiting Request to participate in this class Of course, there is a capacity limit, so it’s basically by reservation Please apply from the description of this video Let’s draw pictures together That’s another one, isn’t it? There are still more, aren’t there? Yes
This is it This is a book about painting transparent watercolors with Shibasaki, featuring a yellow cover Thanks to everyone, it seems that the first edition has sold out Yes So now the graphic company is hurriedly creating the second edition Like Amazon, I guess I think you can also find it at bookstores Take a look
How about it if you like? How to paint watercolor landscapes
A lot of different things There are various things included It’s not just that, you know. It’s also about the way of thinking when drawing pictures I believe this is definitely a book that will be helpful in that regard Yes And one last thing, then Shibasaki will hold a solo exhibition from July 31 to August 5 The location is B1 of the Hilton Hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo This is a place called Hiltopia Art Square It’s a large gallery You can see the paintings freely in a spacious place, but… But still, you know… I think many people will come, so to avoid congestion, we have a reservation system in place So, you need a ticket. It’s a free ticket Please apply for the ticket from the description of this video Would you like to slowly meet Shibasaki and see some art in the cool gallery? I’m waiting for you There were a lot of announcements, weren’t there? Yes
Today was for corrections Next time, with a different theme and a different work Shibasaki wants to meet you It’s really humid and muggy during the rainy season, isn’t it? Let’s be careful and look out for each other to avoid heatstroke Well then, let’s meet again soon Thank you very much
