Yuto Horigome x Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Matcha”

all right we ready mhm
3 2 1 my life changed when I turned 18 not just me everything the world I knew shifted the streets the sounds the skateboarding scene they all started to feel different and in the middle of that change I started to feel different too there were days I looked in the mirror and I didn’t quite recognize the person staring back moments when I lost sight of who I was or who I thought I was supposed to be i feel more limits now more weight in every direction i wonder what will happen to the things I really want to do the art I want to create the parts of me that feel most alive lately more eyes are on me and with that comes a mix of light and shadow support love opportunity but also judgment pressure and expectation i’m learning that attention is a double-edged sword it pushes you forward but it can also pull you apart it makes you ask what matters most who am I doing this for i won’t lie sometimes I’m anxious sometimes I feel stuck between fear and ambition but even then I want to believe in myself not blindly but deeply with honesty with courage i want to keep moving keep creating keep skating keep reaching for the things only I can bring into the world no matter how heavy it gets I’ll keep going more speed
because this this is mine to live
just needs more speed oh why am I tripping up over that all right can we restart it yeah
okay

(welcome to my a visual journal.)

(disclaimer: no restock on shoes) it was after watching the homie @s.mastorelli ‘s video with @yutohorigome’s @nikesb Matcha Dunks, I felt a spark like I had to create something of my own. I wrote the dialogue, bought the shoes and reached out to Bill, who was kind enough to let us shoot at @njskateshop (huge thanks, always). Filmed also at @treehousejc for the matcha cameos.
The skater in the video is Iggy, a special human being that I made a short film about few years ago in Jersey City. Reconnecting for this project just felt right.
At its core, this piece is about growing up. About how turning 18 changed everything, the streets, the skate scene, the way Yuto has expressed about himself. It’s about carrying the weight of decisions, of expectations, of dreams that sometimes feel too far away… and still choosing to move forward.
Skateboarding, for Yuto, has always been more than tricks, its identity. It’s how he processes life. It’s how he learned to fall and get back up. And this video? It’s a reflection of all of that. The pressure, the questions, the hope and the quiet courage it takes to keep going anyway.

As the saying goes in the end of the video, “This is mine to live.”
