Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street: FULL COMPETITION | X Games Salt Lake City 2025

[Music] i’ll be legendary beating black and blue but what you heard is true i fought against the masses like the legends do i’ve been fighting way too long for me to give up now i ran a thousand miles at least 100 rounds i fought against the best and never met defeat legendary this is legacy legendary this is legacy a gold medal debut at 13 years old in 2003 ryan Sheckler now at 35 returns to the XGame stage for the first time in 6 years
you know for Cynics there were a lot of questions as the games began an eclectic group of athletes seize this rare showcase open your eyes allow them to blow your mind [Music] day two of XGame Salt Lake City rolls on with one of our favorites it’s now time for the Monster Energy men’s skateboard streak what’s happening everybody brandon Graham joined alongside my superstar partner the pro Zion wright Zion there is not an empty seat here in the stadium to witness history we got a full house today everyone is outside and here to see and witness history today at Xame25 Salt Lake so let’s get into it
you know the names nigi Houston trying to defend the gold his arch rival Utah Horome back in the mix but lest we forget the one the only the Golden Boy Ryan Sheckler making his 21st XG Games appearance returning to the stage at 35 he’s here he’s healthy and he’s here to put on the show so um yeah I can’t wait to see it all the stars are here including the chosen one one of one what can Niga Houston do to defend that gold and continue to rewrite history it’s um it’s really special to still still be here competing i mean it’s funny cuz at this point there’s been like a couple generations of people that I’ve really had a lot of battles with i’ve always been a competitive person so I think a lot of the rivalry is within myself to still compete at a high level feel proud of myself that I’ve had this long of a career but I think the thing that excites me the most is is how hungry I still am to go out there and do more unbelievable to think Niga Houston who made his XGame debut at 11 years old was consistently the youngest competitor in this field broke records won goals and even now at 30 he is the one to beat
and he’s here and he’s not letting up anytime soon so um let’s see what he has to bring today it’s definitely he’s definitely going to be firing it up i’ll tell you that much so
threetime street gold medalist Utah he wasn’t here last summer he is here today and of course we cannot count out the silver medalist from Ventura last year Braden Hoben so Zion we take a look at this beautiful course out here at Salt Lake City and it seems like our entire Field of 12 has been laying waste to it at practice
100% you got some uh some cool add-ons with the the like bumper to rails on the other side and then yeah you got the Showtime obstacle over here that you can’t see and then the bumper to rail into that Showtime obstacle the bump to ledge so so yeah man it’s um it’s going to be a heavy heavy day of skating of all the guys
this is our deepest field at all of X Games we’ve got 12 skateboarders the format is best of three runs and here’s a look at the competitors obviously you know all the names
all the guys Chris Deshawn Jamie Braden Utah Niga it’s anyone’s game here today like I’m going to say it again it’s all 12 of these guys here are capable of winning that’s why they’re here so let’s just see what what they got to give us today
before we set it off let’s head out to the course to the third member of our team AJ McCord
i caught up with Ryan Sheckler earlier this week i asked him “How is it going to feel dropping into your 21st X Games?” He said “I’m going to get the nerves like I always do my legs will feel heavy but then I’m going to drop in and hopefully it’ll all go away.” Getting a chance to compete here for the first time in front of his daughters just under three years old one of them and a new one just brand new and he said “All I want them to know about their dad competing at X Games is that he was smiling and he was having fun.”
Yeah it’s outstanding to see Ryan Sheckler in this place in his life he is ready he is in the zone probably has the largest cheering section here at SLC and setting it off owner of 7X Games Medals the legend Ryan Sheckler
showtime a and Shaq’s going for it right straight out of it showtime still got 35 seconds on the clock he’s cruising into a nice little tail slide a into the back tail just sticking those rails this is what’s a bit difficult about this course is those rails are really small and as far as the paint and being on it they had to grind down and get all that stuff off so they’re not really sliding at the best you got to be making sure your board has wax on you know either the nose or the tail or on the bottom so and yeah they’re just you know the guys these guys got so much pop and stuff to where being able to pop down to a little rail is is not really the best op uh best in this case so so Shaq’s first run will be a throwaway but I I can’t help but think Zion if he lands that first trick off the Showtime obstacle as you say that completely transforms that run for
Oh 100% 100%
now we move on to a young gun 15 years old now skating for Nig’s Board Company Disorder Julian Aguilardi and yeah man this kid is sick i will say he is sick i’ve seen the footage i’ve seen it in the magazines and now I’m getting to see it here in person wow nice little backsmith on that bump to obstacle that thing is not small wow fire Trey flip no 70 for a boy solid kick it back up easy front line now front board coast
and it looks like he’s timing this run perfectly Zion
yeah he is so I was watching um him and his dad kind of run through the motions in practice and they definitely got it down and to be honest this is just going to be a little throwaway for him i feel like he’s got a bit more in the tank so that I think he just wanted to you know get his palms greased and just get something under the under his belt and then just move on from there but that was a solid first run
at the Street League Santa Monica takeover earlier this month that was his first official major pro contest we saw him at Osaka last week and at 15 years old he’s the youngest skater in this entire contest and he is here to hang out and show that he deserves to be here so that’s what’s pretty sick there’s no denying good skating so
an 80 for Julian Agiardi so as you said maybe a B run for him with a really respectable score
i think he’s I think he’s going to amp it up he was just cruising those kicker back lips i feel like he’s going to throw some other flip in maybe a flick front blunt into there so let’s see
32-year-old Kelvin Hoffler making his 15th XG Games appearance owner of seven medals he has won this event Zion twice before
and he is here and he I’m pretty sure he can be able to do it again if he stays on wow that’s a big kick from Dine oh [Applause] oh my god [Applause] oh it got a little stuck there yeah see those rails are just so they’re they’re very precise you got to be really precise good speed not too much pop and yeah they’re very tricky [Music] oh he missed on his last trick oh kick with Bendy the wax and the temperatures i mean we’re in the 90s how much that heat impacts
oh 100% you know it it’s definitely taken a toll on the skating and and let’s not forget about the elevation too not Not all these guys are used to this uh high elevation at like 4,000 ft up here so definitely plays in a factor of the skating but that was a chill little run for Kelvin a 71 he he’ll be able to improve on that he’s just cruising um let’s see what Matt has to offer though we move on to 31-year-old Matt Berser a silver and bronze in his XGames career nice kick for Wow back nose guy to regular a five see that’s what I mean about that and as far as him being able to go on that side I got to skate the course the other day and I went up on that that kick on the bottom that stops you a little bit so you not being able to have momentum to go up that h it’s not going to be good molly front on board chilling and I feel like as far as to all the skaters certain stuff tends to other skaters you know better to other like some people may like the little rails because they can get more technical on it some people may not like it because you know they can’t so [Music] so Burge hearing the bell and he’s a guy that’s had success in real street and real street best trick still in search of that first podium finish in our traditional street contest and his run one score comes in at a 62
stupid light yeah so I I could hear him talking about the the kicker that thing is uh not really the best so we move on to Felipe Moza 18 years old a silver medal earned in Ventura in street best trick last summer a and Felipe man I feel like he’s been hitting the scene hot as far as over the years like I’ve been I remember when he hit he was like a little guy and now he’s grown up he’s getting his legs and stuff and he’s got coverage uh kick the front blunt on Hollywood 16 thrash recover he’s he’s in the streets so but yeah you know getting a little dicey on that first one it’s hot out here you know
wouldn’t say maybe nerves it’s just the legs may be a little jittery or something
so we’re five skaters in Z and yet to see a clean full pull 22 for Felipe Mo obviously that three-run format makes all these guys feel a little bit better but we’re looking for somebody to change the game here
and could it be this next man
i think I think it might be
standing at 6’4 230 lb i think it might be
looking like Cam Newton on a skateboard 20 Russell
powerhouse wow i felt that flip 50 oh no and Cordono’s approach to this course is going to be really cool cuz he is just going to just be throwing all of his power just all over it see those rails are just very little if I had Cordono on my on my team I’ll be running with him behind me oh I’m I feel good i’m running yeah he got my back he’s lead blocking
he lead locking but it’s so cool man to see how Yeah just how big and powerful he is and how that’s able to translate
we’ve never seen anything like this certainly not competitive skateboard
no we haven’t and um he’s here wow very chill he didn’t um he didn’t get what he wanted in on that run but uh he’s definitely got some stuff in the bag he just got to put it together and see what what he gets for a score he earned a silver medal in his XGames debut last year at XG Games Chiba in street best trick but again still looking for that first clean run out here in the Monster Energy men’s skateboard street
for that gold jake Agliardi the youngest in the field still leading the way with that 80
but obviously those big names like Jamie Foy to drop in
still got more to go and what’s can be said that hasn’t already been said about this legend 29year-old Chris Jocelyn who is one of the best skateboarders
and he did start it like that so I had asked him earlier I was like “What’s up you going to you going to launch out like that?” He said “Nah let me give it a a chill six or give it a hard eight as far as the tricks.” But it looks like he’s going in those rails are just so tricky man they’re just very very little and you got to be very precise on your pop and everything
but you know Zion Chris Joselyn’s one of those skaters that will never be defined by any contest because of what he does in the streets he’s already in the discussion for Thrasher Sod for what he’s put out
and and it’s it’s there like he is not playing around i went to a spot in Spain that he switched front side flipped and honestly I couldn’t believe my eyes but yeah man the his approach his raw power and just like the way he skates is very incredible you can just tell it’s he’s just like pissed he’s like “H.” But it’s sick yeah
he falls in that category of your favorite skateboarder’s favorite skateboarder
for sure 100% but yeah like Joselyn in the streets is a whole different animal than Joselyn sitting here being contained in this little street course
where the 30 year is kind of Yeah so the show goes on owner of four X Games medals including a gold in this discipline
this one of my favorites
from Chandler Arizona Jordan
so talking about style for all y’all out there just like watch how effortless and just flow and just how just good he makes it look ah crook up that like it was nothing he’s going up that obstacle not down and that is way harder oh back nose chilling he cruising ah nice trey flip front blunt he’s playing it safe on those rails because those things are not friendly
already the best run of the day how does he end it
he going to end it with a laser a I’mma stand up for that one cuz I I like that that was nice he can improve on that he can improve on that
so Z everything was there for Deshawn if he can close out that run look out it’s hot man i’m I’m feeling the the breeze coming off from from up here imagine being down there on the course god and then yeah man like like you you still yet got you’ve got four to go you’ve got Braden to go you’ve got Uto and you’ve got Niga to go
so a 77 for Deshawn there in second place there you see Jamie Foy but for a quick vibe check from the course let’s head back down to AJ you guys I can hardly hear you in my ear every single time there’s a trick that goes on because the crowd here in Salt Lake City you hear them behind me they are excited for the show that they are getting a chance to watch in fact the stadium’s completely full people still at the door trying to get a seat because who wants to miss a moment of this action
there’s nothing like the street crowd out at X Games
all right here we The most soughtafter spot at all of XG Games SLC now dropping in
Big Boy Foy
jamie Foy
big Boy oh hold on uh-huh big Boy holding on with a 180 Switch crook out the mix and yeah Jamie is just Jamie is a veteran to contest too i want people to know Jamie’s been skating contest his whole life he is not just a street skater so he can handle himself in these sort of situations it’s just about him being able to put it together i feel like he just never really has that that you know the best luck of putting it together but it’s there he’s got it in the bag and we also know Zion he he may be the best when we talk about street best trick
oh yeah he’s got he’s got tricks up his sleeve and and and that’s what’s cool about him is he he’s always trying to learn new stuff wow so him being able to get into a best trick situation he’s like “Oh okay i’mma try something new that’s been sitting in my head boom and then you got something completely fresh wow little sketchy on that but you know you know it’s still kept it going yeah 55 wow oh he didn’t even lock in that’s why ah Jamie just one of four twotime skater of the year winners
two times
we’re talking Tyan we’re talking Chris Cole we’re talking Danny Weey we’re talking Jamie Foy that score coming in at 75.33 good enough for third place we move on to the Ensenus kid 23 years old making his sixth XG Games appearance Braden Hoben oh and Braden’s going to have a really chill approach to the course too but he’s still going to be doing super gnarly tricks so it’s always super fun to watch chilling on that black smith wow kicks with nose round oh oh ah i know that real hot too
i felt that yeah Braden he’ll pick up on the next one so if you’re just joining us we’re closing out run one here in the Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street foolps have been hard to come by here today guys fighting the elements fighting the rails on this course but I got to tell you Zion I lowkey I actually I like this i like that these guys are having to grind it out right now
for sure man and it’s it’s not easy as far as you know bringing on the conditions and stuff and but there’s no excuse though these are the best skaters in the world
you want to talk about a guy who makes it look easy last time we saw him back in 2023 he won gold
and here he is back again to do it again chilling for a free bowl on that to nollie cab no 360 live i lowkey had seen him do a trick up that but he had skipped that just now wow now [Applause] [Music] Wow molly 180 5 salt Lake City are you not entertained 10 previous skaters really struggling to put it together here in the first run and Utah just looking like AI out here that was super chill
super super chill come on let’s go keep going let’s go oh oh someone in the mic
the precision the control lost the hat didn’t matter
let’s see what score that is
yeah you
Nigel firing it up yeah you
and is just going to build off that uto a fivetime X Games gold medalist and we are officially in club 90 uto Horome takes over first place and you know who loves to hear it
the most decorated man in this field owner of 15 XG Games gold medals 11 in this event alone the one the only Niga Houston starting off this line switch wow switch front step fluffing over into a crookie nice little crookie monster trey flip kick flip back flip see the rails little he had to like pop down to it nack wow nice rep bump and now he knows M
he sets up
for the Ender wow switch on board oh my goodness there’s a reason why he’s got more gold medals than any skateboarder in X Games history he’s won off the all-time gold medal record held by Garrett Reynolds with 16 a win today would tie it
he’s got improvements on that for sure he just What a way to start things out and you know Zion as well as anyone he’s got way more in the tank
100% like that was just like okay you put something down all right let me put something down too and then if you really applies pressure he going to be like “Okay let me apply more pressure.” That was beautiful the boys applauding him
getting some love from the boys
a 93 for Niga he takes over first place
easy
that switch on board is no joke niga setting the pace on his very first run here in Monster Energy men’s skateboard street well let’s head down to AJ who’s with our leader
niga what a way to set the tone here at XGame Salt Lake City how did you put that run together
i don’t know i guess it just came together in the moment cuz I wasn’t really feeling too good in practice but sometimes you just got to go for it when it matters and you told me that competitive drive just gets fueled every single time you drop in what can we expect from you in round two
i’m just stoked to carry that momentum cuz once you put down a run it’s a little easier to kind of cruise through the contest so um hopefully that one will get me in the finals and we’ll uh we’ll bump it up a little bit
and Shaq the first one to congratulate you he said he knew you were going to be a problem as soon as you burst down to this scene what does it feel like to compete next to him
oh it’s great it’s great sh is the man and hey we need to see that kickflip indie i need that i need that
i’m gotta go after that
i missed the one in practice too so I need to see that
there you go we’ll see what Shaq has next
awesome to see the bond between those two utah took over first place but it was a temporary hold because then Niga Houston came in and did what Niga Houston does he owns the top spot after run number one [Music] after this message and a word from our ABC stations [Music] oh yeah we welcome you back to XGame Salt Lake City 2025 and what a debut we are experiencing here in our new summer home in SLC we’re one run in here in the Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street and surprise surprise Nigel Houston leading the way after run number one 12 skateboarders out here the best single run of your three runs counts and it’s Niga one Uto two but all eyes right now on Ryan Sheckler
shaq Daddy
shaq’s returning to the Xgame stage for the first time since 2019 and everyone is ready to watch him put it down for run two showtime that’s that Showtime obstacle so he missed that on run number one Z but you know Sheckler it’s going to be get rich or die trying he’s not going to shake that up he’s got to go for it
100% i’m just going for it man there it is giving the people what they want i think this is using your time wisely
yes it is showtime showtime give us one more
or or or just save it he does have another run
he does have another run
you know that’s how he should look at it 45 seconds to put that to put that down yeah give the people what they want the crowd is stoked right now they’re fired up the roar of this crowd for Ryan Sheckler it is absolutely incredible the skaters fighting the elements out it’s a boiler out here
it’s hot man but to see Ryan Sheckler back at X is special
how about the youngest skater in our field
could he walk away with a medal today
15year-old Julian Agliardi and I I I have to repeat this skating for Niga’s disorder team if if Niga anoints you and sees something in you especially at this age
you got it
that’s not an accident
no you got it for sure cuz um he’s a freak of nature himself so he’s probably seeing a lot of what his younger self was in uh in Julia wow that trick flip is so powerful power 360 board kicks evacuate cruising front side blunt in the quarter pipe n front board let’s see if he ends up with a bang right here click oh there was the upgrade the one thing that really impresses me with Julian is sometimes when you see skaters this young competing on this stage they might have the tricks but sometimes strategy is a question or they don’t have their rhy runtimed perfectly julian has it all
no I think I I think he’s been um he’s been in the lab cooking up for sure and and now him being able to get that opportunity to show it it’s it’s showtime like I was saying I’ve I was seeing him and his dad in practice they’re definitely running through the motions getting the run timed out just making sure where he can fit tricks in here or there so yeah boom and then with that flick front o or no that front blunt backside flip almost just getting away with them he’s either going to do that or he’s the next one he’s going to kick flip front blunt it but I I I think he may he’s leaning on that one cuz that that’s a bang like you do that in the run that that’s a that’s definitely an upgraded from an 80
that will not improve Julian’s run one score so third place is where he will stay we move on to a guy who won gold in his XGame debut back in 2017 [Applause] sneaky consistency kelvin Hoffler stepped off his board a couple of times on run one i think he’s going to put it together here on his second fell lip drag kick with nose fakey switch five that was lowkey the sickest thing in the whole line wow look out back tail getting away from him on that kick with back tail moving fast off that rail
and that’s the thing man you need to land all your tricks if you want to be able to compete with any of those 90 scores so there’s one little fluke is h it’s it’s bad
sion you talk about the 12 biggest dogs in street the 12 best in the world are here there’s no giveaways
no not at all like you cannot skip a beat you have to be on point every trick landed and landed good too at that like the like the judges are looking for style they’re looking for execution and they’re looking for just overall just who who’s doing the the gnarliest stuff so So here’s Matt Berser sitting in seventh place oh kick flip fly ah it always sucks too when you when you don’t get that good momentum off the first trick into the second trick it’s just a a down spiral from there oh careful back fakey and he’s got big pop dude he popped so high over that [Applause] so another throwaway for Berser
he’s got another one
he skates with such power though Z 6 foot 180 that’s the beard of a man right there that is so if he sees Matt Burgger
that’s a big dog
will have to put it together for his third and final run beanie beanie so Felipe Mota who made his XG Games debut via Real Street Best Trick back in 2020 and then earned a medal in street best trick silver which he would eventually lose to Niga Houston sitting in 11th place front side feed into a back tail slide from that bump to ledge front butt fakey cruising a heel flip back tail [Music] and that rail continues to give trouble for the skaters out here Z
yeah that that’s a tricky obstacle wow pink spinner hurricane that’s savage that’s not a regular everyday trick
yeah that’s not a middle-ofthe- trick and to think on what’s essentially a throwaway run
and yeah with that with that heel flip with that heel flip back tail in there with all those and then to end with that that’s a solid score feel like that could put him up into top three that’s better than a 22
for sure easy so we’re in the middle of run two here in the Monster Energy men’s skateboard street three runs best single run counts and that jumps Felipe up into fourth just outside of podium position so Cordano Russell getting to drop in for his second run for more on Cordano let’s head back down to AJ well Brando you guys noted the fact that Cordano has a football background i asked him “What is the crossover between football and skateboarding?” And he said it’s the work ethic and the consistency he knew growing up playing football that you have a game on Friday here’s what you have to do throughout the week to get ready for it he has applied the same technique to skateboarding so he has a regimented practice schedule and works on his runs bit by bit to build it up so that when it’s game time and the whistle blows he’s ready
he’s a disciplined young man very disciplined and a very faithful young man too
yeah absolutely he’s a great person and a wonderful competitor and we were so lucky to have Cordon Russell at the X Games and again trouble right out the gate z
dude I mean some of these obstacles are a little too small for him man this dude’s huge he’s got massive pop wow holding on to that base front board to fakey on the bumper to making that look good nice try flip over into the back line on the bump to coming up
good to see him clear out that bail from the beginning and putting together a nice little run wow fakey heal from board dude I don’t know if you’re seeing but his board is just screaming for help his board is literally screaming for help oh my god his board just bit did you see that holy crap dude his board is screaming for help he rides a custom toy machine deck to to withstand the extra abuse that comes with that size so Naja Houston still leading this thing but
this podium could get shaken up by this young man Chris Jocelyn a true veteran who’s one of our favorites one of the best skateboarders on the planet and he’s got a new baby on the way as well
dang I did not know that
yeah it’s good to be Chris Joel right now can he put it together on run number two wow big hole ali started off high flyer a no back flip wow into the big flick and and that’s the thing is with Jos he does not do easy setup tricks he’s flipping his board he’s going for it every time but he he he is consistent with those tricks it’s just they’re just hard man just to get them every time
already
in a run and with it being hot so
already with two heavy video parts that have come out in the last few months obviously the Joslyn Show for Plan B and then Joyce which came out in December which was a tribute to his grandmother one of his earliest supporters and as we said in run one no contest will define Chris Joselyn
no it won’t
he is a beast
y’all go out there and do your research
all time
he is really like that in the streets
deshawn Jordan sitting in fifth had a really nice run just was unable to close it out does that change here on run two backs that up real quick ah into the 185 got stuck on it and then Yeah man that’s just like it’s it’s like momentum gone you know you fall on your second trick and then you’re just kind of in a stump like got 30 seconds left he can still hustle get a few tricks in but that the judges aren’t going to take any to that to score so wow crook up the album
zion how are we not going to talk about Deshawn’s album which just came out a few months ago The Bridge
yep
lot of guest features on there tie dollar sign
mhm
lord DeAndre and Zion Wright
yes sir
okay
you not going to talk about that
yeah man i mean I think I think it’s really cool as far as how Deshawn is being able to take that approach from the music and just kind of like spotlight it a little bit more and like and kind of pop hisish so yeah man it’s cool and yeah he hit me up for the project he was like “Bro I need you on the project the project’s not done till you’re on it.” So I was so stoked to be a part of that and just always sick to see my brothers just keep thriving and keep you know just doing what they love to do
super talented well let’s head down to the course aj McCord who’s with Chris Joselyn
chris Joselyn and Ryan Sheckler it just feels like a reunion down here you guys just break down i was going to say Sheek you talked about how excited you were to be back among this crew now that you’re in it what does it feel like
no it’s great it’s exactly how I knew it was going to be you know me and Jocelyn go way back and uh got to compete with him twice this year already which is like something I didn’t think would happen so anytime we see each other it’s it’s back to the brotherhood and you’re talking about the altitude but also have to be talking about exchanging some some dad tricks here Chris because I know you’ve got a new little one on the way just how excited are you for that
oh very excited so excited i could hardly focus on this right here right now to be honest with you but hey we’re here
it’s like any minute though
it is
yeah yeah head down ready to go i’m going from here to the airport
there you go i love to see it well we can’t wait to see the next one thanks
thank you wow i knew he had a baby on the way i I didn’t realize it was literally any minute wow and that’s just that that just shows a lot you know as far as just him being out here just wanting to you know
it’s cool to see Joselyn and and Shackler who were lifelong teammates for Plan B for a long time and have known each other for for so long now as as fathers it’s just it’s cool to see them with a fresh new perspective jamie Foy sitting in sixth place i don’t know if he got into that 180 switch crook but he’s still going into the backsmith cruising and Jamie is just finesse like he just has finesse all over him ah fakey 5 coming out hot power heel flip oh to the back nose ah
that’s what did him in got my partner right here so I’mma stand up i want to see it i want to see it live ah just missed the pop man it’s hot out here let’s Bro let’s like that takes a toll on this skating because hold on let’s just talk about these obstacles man you cannot wax these obstacles right now because why the wax is just going to melt off so it’s just it’s just tough man it’s really tough for us
jamie and you you’re you’re two Florida boys you’re telling me this is this is different for you guys
no it’s not different for us but it’s just you know it’s just it’s tough though trying to do a little more humidity in the
a little bit more humidity but yeah it’s just like
it is a hot one i think it’s night imagine just trying to do it in showtime you know you’re just like ah like
all the bright lights all the eyes on you on the biggest stage in action sports i get it with us we’re just like in the streets like “Oh we we’re going to go street skate today it’s chill it’s hot but like we’re going to get through it it’s execution right now.”
So here’s Braden Hoben he’s sitting in 10th place that is very uncharacteristic for the kid from Insanus trying to add to his two XGame silver medals shs dapping him up [Music] i’m sorry excited to see what Braden’s got in store for run number two damn it i was ready [Applause] into the tail slide wow kick up 50 up on that bump to ledge that thing is not little nice back smith up on the bump trail to Wow it’s a kick flip nose grinder board break what and he’s still going someone give him a board someone give him a board someone give him a board
there goes that man [Applause] [Music] oh he’s still going no hold on sorry i’m tweaking i’m tweaking how did he do that zion a imagine that if he would have put that whole thing together on a broken board that was crazy man that was that video part moment you like you hope you hoped for that filming a trick in the streets to land break your board and roll away that was so sick that was incredible what a warrior run from Braden Hoben take another look [Music] wow kick flip nose guy be
right there for snapping
looking at his back foot gonzo that was super sick though a straight sixes for Braden Hoben
what could have been if he doesn’t break the board on that run but that’s why they get a third run here in Monster Energy men’s skateboard street utah looked like a walk in the park on his first run
oh he was cruising
niga taking first place away from him can he take it back from Niga i know he’s got some upgrades in this run i know he does he always does
he’s always got some tricks up his sleeve nice knowledge on his M wow 360 boy lit not many people do that that’s like that’s that’s his that’s his own wow into the knowledge back nose to fakey tech on tech on tech for Utah
so he trying to add a little bit oh he’s coming in switch it’s a bang oh switch lift he wanted that
we wanted that
yes so yeah so he’s got he’s he’s got some upgrades
there’s a clear upgrade there for Utah
it just um he’s just got to put it together he’s got one more though yeah
absolutely you know we talked about it Zion niga seemingly was unmatched for years and then UTO burst on the scene and they really went comp to comp 100% and I feel like it was really cool just because as far as you seeing a different style of skating being able or you being able to just bring a different bag of tricks into the equation you know and then that’s what’s sick too about Niger is bro Niger’s got Niger will season tricks how about that niger will put tricks in seasons he’ll do certain tricks in a time when he needs to do them and then he’ll put tricks away and then he’ll bring tricks out
oh you’re talking about the fall 24 collection um yeah we’re done with that
yeah so
well said okay so here’s Houston what does he do he’s got that 93 he’s in first place can he add some more points on run two
i think he’s going to add a little bit of bit of something wow nollie back knows what into the nollie knows what last 10 for Niga oh
okay so there was an upgrade on that he went for the switch heel switch heel front tail switch right front heel tail switch heel flip tail side whatever you want to call it one of those
after two runs our top three remain unchanged agliardi in that bronze medal spot Utah and silver and Nigi Houston will hold on to his first run score of 93 if anyone wants to win gold out here at Street they’re going to have to come and take it away from Niga Houston the X Games are brought to you by Sonic 805 Beard Beatbox and Monster Energy welcome back to the men’s skateboard street competition at XG Games 2025 Salt Lake City i’m standing by with Braden Hovind an exciting last run you had there breaking the board partway through getting it to finish though what do we have in store for you next um we’ll see i mean hopefully don’t break my board um no i mean yeah hopefully just do another line uh finish it this time without any uh any trouble but um yeah one more so we’ll see
well we saw you had the pit crew moment in there you have a backup board ready so what can we expect for you
uh I might have to change it up a little bit because these guys are you know putting in the work um I think Niga’s like one uping his line so I think we’re going to have to go for it and I understand it’s a loss of a board for you but a very lucky fan is about to get a Braden Hovven board
yes should we do this
let’s do this let’s see which lucky fan is going to get the board we’re going to toss it here give him a heads up first [Applause] come to X Games you never know if you’re going to get a skateboard tossed your way you guys [Applause] games and get some merch wow love to see it
third and final run time here at the Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street coming to you from day two of XG Games SLC 2025 not an empty spot in this venue this is the loudest I have heard XG Games all day long because they want to see this man the legend in his return to X Games put this down here’s
Shame yes showtime baby big kick for Bendy
oh he’s gassed he’s fired up
the kick
into the back we’ve all been waiting for from Ryan Sheckler yo to be honest like if he just puts one together he’ll get a good score he’s powered flick his mor into the kick to back flick come on let’s go let’s go let’s go keep it going Ryan the threetime X Games gold medalist is on one oh my god wow look at all the boys we’re applauding them giving him his flowers man take in that Ryan has been doing this ever since he was 13 years old a moment a little geyser he will soon forget Zion on his third and final run after a six-year hiatus in front of his wife two daughters he puts together his best run of the day on his final run that was so sick to see
he’s still out here hanging
he’s not out don’t count him out
a 69.66 so that improves his score putting him up in the eighth place but the positioning doesn’t matter to Ryan Sheckler
he came out here and did what he needed to do [Applause] [Music] again made his XG Games debut at 13 back in 2003 in X Games Los Angeles winning gold and here he is at X Games Salt Lake City as a 35year-old putting it down but here now Julian Aguiardi sitting in the bronze medal spot little nose ground into that backsmith wow that tre flip man the pop on it every time is incredible into the N 360 board wow into the kick for back lip cruising front blunt on the quarter pipe molly front board once again timed to perfection from the 15-year-old wow he got it in keep it going keep it going
don’t stop keep it going keep it going ah that was sick epic and man that Let’s talk about that that is a very hard trick to put in to your run and land it on the last trick the youngest competitor in our field put together his best run of the day he’s currently
Look at him he’s losing his mind
he’s tweaking i would be tweaking too so he’s sitting in that third medal that third uh excuse me that third place bronze medal spot you saw the clear upgrade Zion
yeah he got it in he snuck it in front blunt back side flip out that is like it doesn’t get any more technical than that as far as you having to pop in get in position and then be ready to flick out and land backwards so it’s like Yeah it’s insane
and look at He was surprised he surprised himself he was like “Yes I got it.”
There is a wide gap between he and UTO for second place but I can’t wait to see what this score is it’s an 873 so improves it a ton but not enough
to knock on Utah’s door for second place but what a showing
with a 15year-old here at X Games SLC
and like you know this is just first of many more man he’s He’s
That’s what’s scary
yeah he’s here he’s going to be growing he’s going to be improving
and Yeah man skate away with the medal
yep and the future of skateboarding is looking very bright with people like Julian so Niga and Utah are one and two here in the final runs of Monster Energy men’s skateboard
everything first
kelvin Hoffler says “Let me just think about it let me dial in this line.” Let’s go let’s go gave himself a little pep talk before his final run into that switch lip side oh getting a little parry ah and again giving him trouble and that’s what you know that’s what sucks man as as far as momentum coming into these tricks the first trick really sets the tone for the whole run if you can come in that first trick good executing giving yourself good speed and trajectory into the next trick then man you’re you’re setting yourself up for for
Ryan Sheckler was a prime example of that seeing him put it together on his third and final run
same with Julian same with Julian [Applause] so unfortunately it won’t be Kelvin Hoffler’s day
but
white t-shirt
partner i I’m just so hyped to see the battle between Uto and Niga they’ll be the last two to drop in to final runs it’s time
will UTO be able to put that heat on Niga we shall see
i mean slam that switch Trey lip and
the judges got got some uh judging to do
here’s Matt Burgger’s third and final run
wow an upgrade on that front blunt up there wow back lip fakey [Music] a that knowledge front board just got away from him tough one for Burge best run coming in at a 62 sitting in 10th place last 10 seconds a [Applause] man kicks a back tail very technical flip in flip out he’s got it wow boosting that kick flip into that front blunt i didn’t see him do that one before i think that was an upgrade for sure off that run his front blunt to backside kick flip out on that 10 stair handrail in uh real street best trick back in 2022 still lives rent free in my head
so good
one of the best moments I’ve seen at XM so unfortunately not Burgger’s day we move on though to Felipe Mot just outside of podium position you thought that run might have had enough to get him top three
100% if he would have landed uh he just had a little fluke
but Julian now has given himself a little more room that 8733 is what he’d have to catch to get onto the podium
mhm wow that was an upgrade cat back tail molly knows my cruising he’s just got to hang on he’s got 12 seconds left either a flip front one or that big spinny Oh that dude just almost there just almost there [Applause] [Music] and Felipe is is someone you know in that talk with Julian that man like they’re going to be around for a while man
yeah you forget because I feel like we’ve watched Felipe so much over the years
he’s still just 18 years old
he’s young man he’s still young he’s got He’s got some time shout out wearing beanies in 90° weather yep shout out beanie gang yes Ry yes bro cordano Russell
that was epic bro
dropping in
we loved it
yes sheckler just came into the booth
yes that was
to show some love
here now Cordano can he put this one down right out the gate oh [Music] say it’s all good baby come on keep going said ain’t nothing chicken nuggets oh yep fakey back tail bakes from front board switch blunt on the quarter pipe into the tre flip think he missed a trick there he wanted to get that back blunt in this will be his last trick of the day [Applause] wow wow fakey heel switch on board
and I’m going to say it again his board was screaming for help on that did you guys not Let’s get a replay on the bin on the board on that come on come on come on squad let’s get a replay on that dude insane and I feel like if you would have put together that run with it with just it being undeniable they would have gave him a score for sure look at the board bin ah ah maybe it didn’t bend on that a little bit but he his boards have been screaming for help all week all weekend
massive score jumps in at an 80 on the do all the way up into fourth so unable to knock on the podium
with the fall with the fall
with the fall
like if he would have executed the first trick into the boom
all right that was up there
chris Jocelyn’s final run here oh it sounded like something bro oh it’s those little rails man he just got caught up on the truck wow that’s a big slip [Applause] so tough day at the office for Chris Jocelyn last 10 seconds we’ll see if he’ll give it one more go and he will have that that was sick that one’s for him that one’s for everyone here at SLC if you’re just joining us that’s
as soon as this contest ends Joselyn is jumping on a plane because he is uh girlfriend is due his new baby any minute he may just skate off the course and go straight to the airport
i would I would be out of here Gonzo
but what a way to end his day take another look
big flip bean one foot big flip bing one foot so sick it’s
called core body strength right there that’s obliques we move on to Deshawn Jordan our brother can he put it together ah just that 185 of getting away from him [Applause] ah
the crook getting away from me too
i do like the all Chicago kit
yeah he kid Bulls tea
white socks hat showtime now just give him some showtime give him what the people want [Applause] showtime showtime baby showtime let’s Still got time on the clock i want to see it oh yeah not going to happen unfortunately for Deshawn Jordan sixth place is where he will stay deshawn ain’t going nowhere he going to be around he gonna have more times to be able to come back and you know get get back in that mode so
then there were four Niga and Utah first and second respectively will be the last two to drop in jamie Foy sitting in seventh place this his final run a okay let’s build off that 180 switch crook i’m on my feet for this one into the backsmith cruising into the backsmith into the fakey 5o popping out of it with power heel flip hold it yep hold it keep it going keep it going come on come on let me see something showtime baby show them why you two time a and man it it just gets hard down to the that last 40 second man your legs the nerves like you’re just like ah you’re shaking you’re like I would have landed so
yeah Foy so Jamie Foy on his final run able to put it together but just as was the case with so many other skaters in this field a glimpse of what could have been braden Hoben broke his board on the previous run now sitting in 10th place oh he’s in that’s how he started [Applause] he’s going for it wow holding on to that how do you land that the board control from Braden next level into the background oh nice little obstacle [Music] front blunt up and down the pumpail yeah it’s kind of hard [Music] wow kick of nose bail there kick of nose ground oh kick for 50 z that was so heavy
that was really gnarly and it’s sick too cuz I seen him doing that in practice honestly I thought he was going to start his runs off with that but that was a good way to end it goes for 50 chilling easy don’t let Braden be on a heater too because he is not counted out of podium when he’s on fire
final run from the clock stopped he keeps going an absolute aura tech run from Braden broke his board on his second run and a lot of highlights on the final one that was insane how did he land that [Applause] what [Music] we’re celebrating 30 years of XG Games here in SLC and it’s moments like this that make you appreciate what this stage is all about uto Horome sitting in the silver medal spot a ridiculous 91 on his opening run he’s the last skater that can potentially knock out Niga from that first place spot
see what he’s got that train flip into this big Showtime back 360 [Applause] [Music] into the nollie nose fly wow into the nollie 360 lift into the nollie front hill okay so that’s an added on that’s an add-on right there he was able to combo those two tricks that’s something different in this run into the nollie back nose one okay so if he can just end this with a bang let him breathe let him chill but yeah he’s it’s it’s go time it’s go time
it’s go time
goodness
it’s go time showtime baby so look um with the judges in counting like bro they’re going to add on to that that trick into the line nolly 360 lit boom into the nollie front heel [Applause] look at Niga yeah look heard Niga he said “Woo!” Cuz he know what’s coming yeah he’s know what’s coming
two points separate Uto Horome from Niga Houston is that the best run we’ve seen today u skating on another planet on his final run you called it Z there are upgrades in this run this is better than a 91 is it better than a 93
100% we’ll see
but I’m Yep
a 95.33 we have a new leader the stakes couldn’t be higher and UTO delivers niga’s loving what
niga is loving all of this right now hey man it’s not Hey man it’s not over to the fat lady sing
the greatest of all time
it’s not over to the fat lady sing man
just got knocked down into the silver medal spot oh switch flip into the crook [Music] nice five on fakey half cap flip kick flip back flip i think those may be two upgrades i did not see him half flip into it or I could be wrong wow into the nolly back nose blunt
in complete control could this be a walk-off into the nollie nose blunt it all comes down to this gold on the line one trick oh [Applause] just a truck away from just ah he would have finessed that too and Niga Houston is unable to complete the run which means UTO earns his sixth career gold medal congratulations you two Corame what a finish here in the Monster Energy men’s skateboard street on his final run Uto took away first place and Niga was unable to take it back our podium set Utah gold Niga silver and Julian Agliardi the 15-year-old earns bronze let’s head down to AJ McCord
utah what a way to finish this event off you needed a score in your final run how did you lock in and level up uh I was really nervous but uh
all was this guy most clutch guy right here always so clutch congrats
thank you bro well Niga while you’re here let’s talk about just this incredible performance all of you put on here at Street Course niga you told me you love the pressure what was it like to see him drop that 95 right before
uh I was not surprised i was not surprised at all you can never count this guy out he always makes it happen on the last run but uh it was a good contest out there congrats to this guy first medal
i was gonna say you had one of the most electrifying moments this crowd got so behind you describe what it feels like to win that medal honestly it doesn’t even feel real it feels like a dream i can’t believe it it’s like I don’t even I don’t have the words to explain i I knew I could do it i knew I had it in me i knew I could land everything and I gave it my all so happy thanks to everybody out there
as you should be it’s not a dream soak it in in Utah another moment for you to soak in as well first XG Games Street gold medal since 2023 your fourth overall how have you continued to bring it every single event here at Street it’s not It’s hard like Yeah but like uh I just keep pushing myself uh having fun skating with friends uh yeah I’m stoked to be here thank you so much so Lake City X Game thank you so much for the performance we’ll send it back to you it’s crazy that we are in an era where we have two of the best skateboarders of all time who are that good under pressure niga Houston with the lead after run number one and then Utah Horome on his final run the second to last run of the entire contest absolutely flipped the script putting down the highest score of the Daisy that 95 man and like I said he’s he had upgrades in that he just wanted to put something down give himself some breathing room and then boom apply pressure then it was like okay go top and and and you this isn’t from uh you’s been in this position a bunch it’s it’s nothing that he’s not new to you know
I hate to ask it if Niga does end it properly and land that trick
it’s Yeah we go
it’s it’s I feel like they’re going to give him the But yeah I don’t know
check out the Heritos trick of the day courtesy of young Julian Zion
that front blunt back side flip out like bro people don’t realize how hard to do that trick but not only to pack it in at the end of your run like it’s Yeah that’s no joke man that’s no joke what a showing for the 15-year-old earning his first career X Games medal congratulations to our entire field but it was 26-year-old Utah Horome winning in perhaps some of the most dramatic finish we’ve seen in this contest in well over a decade i mean this takes me back to Niga winning on a last trick against Perrod back in 2013 Barcelona
oh I remember that what an epic battle out here at Skateboard Street congratulations to our entire field 15-year-old Julian winning his first career XG Games medal and Uto Horome reclaims gold out here in Salt Lake City this is the last one i got it taken i’ll be back later
i love you hey bro who wants a Sharpie anybody sharpie i’ll trade you hats i’ll trade my hats i’ll trade you hats trade me hats [Music] thank you Brandon uh just trying to comprehend that was a truly alltime men’s street final as you see Orisa True making sure that she got a picture with Uto Gome uh on his victory lap he’s actually on his way to come and sit right now with us at the desk but what this kid has done uh is truly truly incredible obviously Olympic gold medal uh this is his fourth gold medal here in street but the level of consistency with tricks that formerly you would strictly see like okay that’s that’s something that someone’s just going to put in a video part um we saw levels of that with Niger Houston in competition but UTO has literally taken it to a place that you’ve really never seen before
i mean when I was watching him I literally said “That is sick.” And I don’t think I’ve used that word in a long time look what you guys are doing to me
congratulations
thank you
welcome you and I’m here i’m here
sick is appropriate but he’s really an incredible story i mean when when he first came onto the scene he spoke limited English she came you know coming from Japan a different type of skate culture there and then moving to Los Angeles getting ingrained with within the professional skateboarding culture which is kind of difficult to to to break into especially if you get a reputation as oh well that guy’s just a contest guy as strange as it may sound
you can get a little bit of push back from the culture being like are you really for the streets though uh you
and he answered that question though he is is he is for the street sal
has more more than answered that question as he makes his way over here we’ll take a look at some of the highlights from that legendary street contest I mean Julian Agliardi coming in third behind Niga Houston is a story by itself because Julian he’s only 15 years old he rides for Niger’s company disorder and go left
Niga’s finally in this position to be this mentor to bring up the next generation and this is his first X games with Niga um as we see some highlights here from UT just complete complete control with that uh 270 lift slide like the the ability for for him to engage in these technical flip tricks into a rail and then flipping out again it’s the type of things that people reserve for like oh I saw someone do that in a video part or for a clip because it takes a thousand tries to get there
for sure i mean he makes it look effortless i swear I feel like I’m going to be able to go home and do some of these moves but obviously I can’t
please send us Please send us the video
you know what that’s the one time I’ll go viral so
please send us the video
i might but you know I’m so excited to talk to him because I also want to know from his point of view is what does it mean to him because he’s now influencing generations of Japanese skaters coming up and you know that has to really mean a lot to him and I would love to hear like what his journey Yes what his journey means to the guys over there so I and the gals
what I think is really special too here is Niga and you two have this deep admiration for each other right there’s this friendship there but they’re also competitors in Slumber you’re deep in the culture you know how the streets work and these guys all kind of communicate together it’s very collaborative which is so different than our traditional sports
yeah they there is a you know as you’ve heard the women talk about you know Arisa talks about I compete against my peers but we’re moving the culture forward together these are still very very niche sports right there’s not big giant bank rollers and millions of dollars and guaranteed contracts you’re only as good as the last thing you did and to be able to sustain your career and to me there’s nothing harder than being a professional skateboarder especially a street skateboarder um because of the stakes the stakes are immense you break your your body in ways that like does not you can’t last very long so again they all understand that they’re a part of a very very small team i like to call them Jedi and so while they do you know there is competition with each other they are there to push the sport forward they understand that this is their time as a collective to push it that much more forward and like I said before you know you have a Julian Agrial who’s coming up behind them as uh there he is in real time
there he I ran into the man himself in the uh in the hotel the the hotel restaurant on night one and he just like casually rolled by and had that focus in his eye
yeah well you know what I love is that this sport has gone from underground to the Olympics but it still feels underground and that’s what I love about it like these are incredible athletes
let’s go buddy congratulations UT incredible run
thank you
here you go yeah congrats
my guy
let’s go olympic gold medalist and next games gold medalist
come on in we got a little bit of time before we go to commercial but we’ll get a microphone on you he’s done it all
i couldn’t imagine um competing and coming and doing an interview i mean right after that is absolutely incredible so thank you so much for being here
thank you i know your fans are going crazy back home watching right now can you hear us all right they’re going to throw an earpiece in you did you get some water it’s hot out here
oh there we go there you go you um it’s only been five minutes since you uh won gold but I’m I’m really curious the the battle the rivalry between you and Niga how that pushed you today the back and forth uh for that run
uh you know I did uh my first line and I was pretty happy but no like really happy it was little sketchy but like still like I’m happy but like you know after n uh Niger he landed his trick and then but I knew he’s gonna do it you know he’s he’s uh he’s so good you know he’s good contest street like everything but uh but that was good like he pushed myself I’m trying to push myself too like like focus on my uh next line
well it was truly truly incredible um to watch you in that in that focus mode we only have about 45 seconds left go real quick i
Well I just want to know how does it feel that you’re influencing younger generations of Japanese skaters to be in the exact spot you’re in now uh yeah it’s crazy uh yeah after like Olympic like all the contest like you know uh the new generation like it’s crazy level every everyone killed it uh even like you know like months ago like had a Olympic qualifier like all Japanese uh guys killed it you know
well we have 5 seconds left to say goodbye thank you congratulations we will see you tonight congratulations to you Gome more X Games 2025 rolling on come on back with us tonight [Applause] time to celebrate [Applause]

Watch the full Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street competition from X Games Salt Lake City 2025!

Street is a style of skateboarding that takes place on a course simulating urban terrain using everyday objects such as curbs, stairs, handrails, benches and quarterpipes as obstacles. Skateboarders use these obstacles to perform a variety of tricks, grinds and board flips, often combining multiple maneuvers into a single trick. Skateboard street requires a high level of creativity, adaptability and technical skill, as riders must navigate the urban landscape and perform with precision and control. Competitions in skateboard street involve riders performing a series of timed runs, with judges evaluating the difficulty, execution and originality of their tricks.

  1. I always feel like theres favoritism in the judges booth. Imo, Yutos first run KILLED Nyjahs. Im a fan of both, and both are legendary skaters, but i just feel like Nyjah has favoritism.

  2. Filipe Mota owns hurricane grinds, might as well call it the Mota grind from now on

  3. I forgot to mention that I love everything about the course except those TWO STUPID METAL KICKERS! They are too loud and they slow the skaters down if they try going up it, compared to concrete.
