division. He’s not coming in like we’ve seen previous opponents of Inaway do and trying to engage. These are hard shots by Na. Big left hand to the head. Here comes the monster. [Applause] I expect a clean, fair fight start to finish. Anything right here is low. Same thing right here. Anything between these lines right here is low. Good luck. When asked, “Why don’t you take a tuneup?” In a way said, “I don’t have the mental strength to take tune-ups. I need maximum motivation tonight in the hungry underdog of Marlon Tales, who’s also a two belt champion at Super Bantamweight. are underway in our main event from the Ariyaki Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Herring, this is the undisputed super bantamweight championship. Naoya Inaway in the black and white trunks already. You see that that hand speed on display from from Inway. You saw Inaway with a quick right hand. And there again, Jamal, it’s not just the power, it’s the speed that Inaway possesses. That’s what I mean. You can’t just sit there and right in front of him looking at him cuz right just like shots like that like I just said two shots down the pipe is all he needs. [Music] There’s a left hand for Talos that gets in. Moving to his right. And don’t do that cuz like I said he he would have fell into a into a mean uppercut. Sharp right hand to the body followed up by a left hand by Inaway. We see a measured approach here from Topales. Remember Inaway said, “I hope Topales comes out aggressive. It excites me. That’s the most dangerous part.” More aggressive you get, the more openings you create, you allow you create for your opponent. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] In a way’s father, Naoyo’s father and trainer. There’s the left hand that landed for. It was an interesting game plan, right? Come out a little bit more conservative, a little work on your timing a little bit. You see, you see right there. That’s what I mean. When he when he fell when he fell in though and he got caught with that uppercut. fighters dropped by body shots by the dangerous Naoya in a way. Round two underway here in front of a you know in front of your opponent even even if it’s just subtle movements you know faints stepping over but you don’t what you don’t want to do is stand in front of him because like again we’ve seen him explode out with a one two and you know end fights. Be interesting to see the replay on that one. It did look like a quick left hand as Inway follows it up with a right to the body. And you see in a way with that back foot taking a step back almost trying to get that looping right hand almost that uppercut to Topales’s head when he leans in halfway through this round two. And look at the feet. Look look look where Topal’s feet feet are at. They’re on the inside and he’s he’s going to he’s walking straight into that right hand. He needs to get his foot on the outside of Inways and keeps turning him to shoot it down the pipe on Inway. But when he’s falling like that, he’s falling into that right hand. See, he’s he’s his head his head is going right right in the direction of that right hand. He doesn’t want to do that. Disrupt punches coming towards the head. See how he fell in? [Applause] here. Nice job. Make jab to polish. I say he just needs he just needs to just keep turning him, you know, just keep turning him and turning him and eventually try to, you know, align his left hand to get a shot down the middle and and and connect on in a way. But that right there is still like no cuz you you’re just just a sitting target. And here comes in away. Those punches are partially blocked, but they are backing up to PZ. You know, in a way right now, he’s trying he’s trying to create an opening. He’s not he’s not looking for one shot. He’s letting his hands go. You know, nice shot. Nice shot to the body. He’s he’s trying to find he’s trying to create openings if he can. The speed of any way. Nice shot. Nice to the body. brings the punch back and then he lands one at another angle so quickly. [Music] And Jamal, to your point, it looks like Inway is is baiting Talis a little bit here. Boom. [Music] Inway displaying the right hand before throwing it. Speed, foot movement. All right. You know, he’s he’s got to get a little bit more looser. [Applause] Nice, nice body shot from Palace. Palace got on the inside. Shorter reach, he’s going to have to, you know, he’s going to have to box away in a nice nice combination from him. And again, you want to you want to keep Inaway off, but if you keep backing him up and offsetting him, you can um you can you can prevent him from um you know, shooting back shooting back at you. So in return there from Inway, Luc the foot position now. [Music] See? And that’s just good technique and know and know where you’re at in the ring. Both can exchange glancing blows to the body. It’s been a more measured approach for Marlin to here. [Music] But in a way is preventing that. What What can you do to find sometimes? You could take a half step back and then and then go back to um you know circling especially if you if you find your your feet always getting caught up. Just take a little half step back and then keep you know what I’m saying? Circle to your right. You see just like that. You see he’s he he was on the outside fighter when he’s in the ring he he always puts on the show and he’s doing that tonight at the Arya Arena and again you know the posit watch out keeping that high guard cuz he’s dead nice uppercut [Applause] meaning um you know in a way can take that he can he can start so you got to you got to start watching out for that as that nice shot with the but in a way that high guard is like blinders in a way. You got to see what’s coming around it. And even anyway, you know what I’m saying? He put his hands up and what happened? He didn’t see he didn’t see that shot that just broke through the guard. That’s what I mean. That body shot. [Applause] Now I feel like Tales is, you know, he’s warming up himself. He’s starting to let his hands go now. This is when the activity Nice work from Topales. Like again, you want he wants to keep backing up in a way plant his feet. He’s going to generate power and you have to give credit to Topales. Yes, he is the underdog, but he’s unified champion in this division. He’s not coming in like we’ve seen previous opponents of Inway do and trying to engage. And again, I like I like I like the game plan that is doing though in terms of the body. Nice nice right hook to the up top. He’s he’s going to the body, you know, to probably take away some of that power of Inway, but but he has to be he has to be careful. He don’t you don’t want to get greedy. And here in a way making his presence known in this round four is marching forward. Nice body shot right in right in between the punches. In [Music] these are hard shots by Na. Oh, big left hand to the head. Here comes the monster. Left hand, right hand. Topus is down. 5 seconds left in this round four. Can Tales beat the count? He does. [Applause] He was trying to fight fire with fire. Got aggressive, opened up, didn’t see the shot with the high guard, came around the guard, put him down. [Music] So that’s that’s a very tough task though. for to Palace because if he’s more aggressive, he’s opening himself up to his attack. But you don’t want to end up, for example, in the same fight that Paul Butler thought lane where you’re tentative and you get you end up getting dropped. The thing is he can he can box with them. You know, he can box with him. He just got to, you know, he he’s got to watch that. He has his block where he places his shots and and and being that high guard hasn’t helped him because again, in ways going to come around the guard and hit you under the elbows and everything and start the way he ended round four. Devastating shots downstairs then upstairs and standing in front of him is not going to help. Standing in front of him is not going to help him. All you’re doing is being a punching bag and a sitting target. That’s a piece up against Naoya Inaway. Right hand gets through the guard. Another right hand. Nice uppercut. Uppercut for Inway. Nice counter from Topales though. Another huge body shot. Tell you he has to protect that body cuz pretty soon the hands are going to drop and he’s going to come right back up top. Nice counter. Nice count from away. That was nice. That was nice from the Palace. Lands a sneak. Another one. Another one. Here comes Marvin to Palace. Oo, nice. Both men exchanging right hands to the head. Big uppercut by Inway. I like what Chapal is doing at times, but when he throws his shots, he just stands right in front of him and Inway comes right back as he motions. Oh, right hand gets in away. The counter. He can do something faint turn something. It’s not where you want to be with your Marlin. Oh, nice. I love that under is breaking the guard up. Anyway, put your hands up. [Applause] Incredible action in this round five. [Applause] punch placement is that he needs to he needs to um he can’t just admire his work. He has to get out of the, you know, out of the fire cuz that’s what he does a lot. He’ll throw shots and he’ll just stand there and then he’ll allow in, you know, in a way to shoot right back at him. See that? See that shot was good because it looked like it was going was going to be a body shot but then he rotated it in the black and white. Karan Bati on the call joined by Jamal Herring. The Aryyaki Arena in Tokyo, Japan is playing host to this matchup. You can hear you can hear Depal’s team jab to the body. J nice nice left hand from the Palace. Tales has a way back up now. Ooz [Applause] go to the body. I’d like to see what it’s like to see him tighten the defense. Good jab from Tales. You’d like to see Tupales tighten the defense and step out of the way out. Yeah. Get out the way. a step back and he’s trying to get him catching coming, you know, catch him coming in at that prospect. And then Jamil, you’re explaining why it’s going to give in away openings again. Right now, I would like to see the power, you know, starting to move again start lateral movement, keep turning. But it’s like I said earlier, if you know, oh, he got caught coming out with his hands down. But it’s like I said earlier though, was something big. And there is something big from the monster. Buried attack downstairs, upstairs. Oh, huge right hand for Inaway to close out round six. Huh. lined up a look. Lined up to that right hand. Just standing there watching them. [Music] That’s good defense with the powers though. A lot of those shots are blocked. But again, you know, definitely in this fight though. Halfway through our undisputed super bantamweight championship. Inway did score the knockdown in round four. For some infight adjustments here. Nice jab. Nice. Good jab. But again, I like what he’s doing now. You got to you got to keep backing the monster up. Caught that glove. Huge left and right hand. Get through for in away. [Applause] Yeah, he’s having his moments again. Nice. Nice. Nice defense. Nice. and way to shoot back from Tales. And that time you saw Tales use the lead shoulder. No way. You know, he’s find himself reaching. Good job again with Tales. And one of those adjustments you asked for, Jamal, is being done there. Marlon Tales, he doesn’t have the high guard with both hands. That right hand is a little bit lower. Now, in a way, it’s going to have to probably make some adjustments of his own now cuz he he see he’s seen that he can’t get to him with that right hand. So, he’s probably going to have to [Music] And you see Depaz is catching the shots with that with that with that left with his left hand now. And he’s bro he’s see he’s turning and he’s he’s having moments. He’s probably even winning the round. Just got caught right. Just got caught though. Third was nice shot from Pis with a nice left hand to close out round seven. His best rounds. But again, he’s trying to he’s trying to use that left that left hand, you know, to roll and catch the shots and catch the shots again. But now like you know to to but respect him he’s he’s found an adjustment that’s actually working. He got you know what I mean? He’s not he’s not taking a lot of flush shots repeatedly as he was early in the fight. And again you know like anyway he he has to um be you know continue being aggressive and shooting more more than one or two shots because that’s what he’s waiting that’s what the is waiting on now to roll up those shots and come back with a counter. It’s been a battle of geography the whole night. See, nice jab. Nice jab in the power. His knees. He’s got the body movement. He’s turning. The jab is finding most he says now. You know what I’m saying? He’s catching anyway falling at times. And when he does, you know, he got that free hand. Let it go. [Applause] Oh, he has to be careful inside cuz you don’t want to get greedy and and forget about your defense. And Marlon Tales has been able to find success here in the middle rounds. He’s found he’s found a lot of success when he catches in a way, you know, backing out when when he’s coming forward. That’s when he’s really dangerous. And if you sit in front of him, he’s going to let he’s going to let his hands go. Nice from Topales again. That left hand got in there from Topales. And again, [Music] [Music] nice big right hand there for Inway. He threw he threw the shot where he felt like where he felt that where um Tal was going to be at. He knows that he’s going to dip. So he threw it right down there and cut him in and cut him on the mark. Nice counter for the inway. Credit to Japal though. He’s he’s definitely doing a lot more than what most probably expected him to do even even this late into the fight. But he’s a champion. So you got you got to give him that respect. He’s a champion. Round nine underway. And that’s exactly what we hoped for and expected from Tales. Even though he has two, came in as an underdog. He’s doubling up that right hand. See again, he’s doubling up that right hand. Thinks he’s going to stop at one right hand and he’ll double up. Nice one, too. Shot from Palace. Left hand got through for Dales. Nice. Nice combination. And right now this distance, this pace, that’s where the monster is dangerous at when he when he stops moving forward. So when he does that foot, but he has but he has to I know he has to watch it even because when he shoots that jab forward, he still he shoots right, he he falls right on the inside of Inway’s feet like Sean Lee here. Don’t give him something. You got to back him up. But when you sit there like that, you go, you get you getting pieced up all all night. Landing one, two, some of these are getting through the guard. And there’s some good body work. We have to give Marlin Tala’s credit. Not only hard of a warrior, heart of a champion, but also investing to that body, and he’s been going to that all night. [Applause] goes back to that high guard. [Music] You notice you notice whenever Tal goes back to the the the peekab-boo stance that you know that that automatic gives in away the the okay to basically let his hands go and you see how many is that develop that right hand. Nice shot right there from the palace. Good counter. Good count. He probably thought that he needed to put both his hands up, but again, he can’t see anything and every time he does that in a way in a way starts to let his hands go left hand. Round 10 from the Aryaki Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Undisputed [Music] in a way. Certainly having success. from Marlon Tales. Adjustments at times frustrating in a way. And you know, you notice at times when he puts his hands up like that, anyway would throw a shot and it hook. Oh, big right hand there. Backed up to PZ and can he beat the count. He’s not going to make it up. Naoya in a way makes history. The legend of the monster continues to grow. In a way becomes only the second man to be undisputed in multiple weight divisions in the modern era history made here in Tokyo. And I’ll tell you what happened. Like he thought he thought he had thought he was defensive. had his both his hands up and anyway broke right through the guard, hit him right on the chin. Oh, absolutely. But again, like I said, give him credit. He stepped up to the plate. Um, most probably didn’t even think he would he would have did as good as he did tonight. We have the big right hand in number 10. A referee in charge, Celestino Ruiz, reaches the count of 10. He is the winner by way of knockout. He is now the undefeated, undisputed super Bantamweight Champion of the world, Nahuya the monster. [Music] Hey, and again, like I said, his shots like that, even though it was on it was on the glove, but you just how hard he hits, you knew he was going to break. He was going to break through the guard and and start touching that chin just like that. He he thought he had his hands up and he thought he was protected. Sat on that right hand and that’s incredible. Both of those right hands were partially blocked by Topales. In a way still got the knockout to the monster Noya Inaway undisputed rarified heir in men’s boxing. He joins Terrence Crawford is the only other fighter to be undisputed in two weight divisions in the modern four belt era. And the special thing about inner way that he did here tonight, he did this in historically quick fashion a little over a year. It took him and and this goes back to what we talked about earlier at the beginning of the fight. In a way said, I don’t have the mental strength to take a tuneup. I need maximum motivation. And he’s had maximum motivation by facing the champions in every division. Even as he moves up, this was his 21st straight title fight. He now improves to 21-0 with 19 knockouts on that run. [Music] Heat. [Music]

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION:

The clash between Marlon Tapales and Naoya Inoue was billed as a test of heart and skill, and it delivered a memorable night. From the opening bell, Tapales came forward with determination, hoping to use his pressure and toughness to disrupt Inoue’s rhythm. For a few moments, Tapales managed to trade punches and show his grit, but Inoue’s class quickly became apparent. The Japanese superstar showcased blistering hand speed, precise counters, and a powerful jab that repeatedly found its target.

As the rounds progressed, Inoue mixed body attacks with sharp combinations upstairs, steadily breaking down the Filipino challenger. Tapales absorbed heavy shots but refused to quit, fighting with pride and firing back whenever he could. Still, Inoue’s superior timing and punching power left Tapales struggling to keep pace. Eventually, the punishment added up, and Inoue forced a late stoppage to secure another dominant victory.

In the end, Tapales showed heart and courage by standing his ground, but it was Inoue’s explosive offense and elite skill set that made the difference, further solidifying his status as one of the world’s best pound-for-pound fighters.
