Ohira Shosei, Mamehara Issei love Shah Rukh Khan, samosas and A R Rahman | JO1’s first India visit
Daniela [Music] samosa samosa samosa. I like samosa. of [Music] they say music has no language barrier and it’s quite true especially in today’s times and uh I think and a very good example of it is that right now I’m sitting with two Japanese sensations who have been ruling over the musical charts and all over the audienc’s hearts and it’s a pleasure as I’m sitting next to show and mame from J1 so firstly welcome to India Yeah, welcome to the fun times. Thank you so much. We are go J1. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. So firstly I want to begin by asking that how has India been treating you? I am crazy. Uh it has been very fun and uh they are they they are very happy to know a lot of new culture and for you more everyone who’s walking around in India is very warm and very welcoming and so he’s very happy and feeling at home over here. I heard that at the airport also you got a very warm welcome by someone who touched your cheeks and gave you some uh very amazing love I think but no that’s the hospitality of India but uh yes have you seen any uh cultural similarities between Japan and India so the hospitality culture in India is uh very rich and there are a lot of parts of it which exist in Japan as well but although India seems the warmer one the temperature wise also it’s a warmer one I I must tell you not but as I said that music is a kind of a global language today and you are seeing you are witnessing that you have a global fan base you have people who are listening to your music globally firstly how is it getting this global attention and kind of getting this global recognition for you so currently be Japanese or any kind of music the beats reach to everyone and there’s a lot of visuals involved in music and then there are a lot of vos which a lot of artists do now which is how the music keeps expanding yeah and are you loving this uh fan base that you have gathered from all over the world of course of course they are they love the fact that everyone from all over the world is listening to their music right now And uh they did not think that there would be a day where music they make will be listen heard by people all over the world. This also gave them an opportunity to come to India. So they are very happy about it. They love it. But have you planned any uh special surprise performance for your Indian fans while you are here? They definitely want to come to India as all 11 members of J1 and conduct lives over here and learn more about the Indian cultures as well. Even though right now concert is not planned uh it’s like you both are on a wrecky for your other band members so that they will you will now tell them and then next time when you come you will be the veterans you will be their guides amazing many many amazing food in India yeah you are going to try one very amazing place today itself and then then you will know actually like the variety that you will get. You will realize like the amazing level will just go up a notch. They can’t experience that in Japan. So they look extremely looking forward to it. I have to ask you that the Asian pop music beat the K-pop now J-pop like it’s kind of taking over the world. Does it kind of makes you feel grateful that you are kind of pursuing your art in a time where it’s not restricted to just your country but actually you are getting to explore yourself and kind of collaborate learn get inspired from other cultures other music and kind of explore your art in that time when they had been to Hawaii they had learned and uh had inculcated that in their music video. This time when they came to India they have learned a few Bollywood stance. So next time when they make a video they want to try to include that in their exactly. Yeah. This this is we we will learn more. We will learn more and then we will uh you can give me choreographer credits also. I will I will help you learn more. But uh also talking about your upcoming music like hands in your pocketed hands in my pocket is your upcoming song. So tell us a little bit about like what was the inspiration behind it? How did it come to life and what is it about? So uh they had a lot of internal conversation with the companies and team members and everything and uh the decision was made based on poll that we will go for this music. And how was your experience working on this song? my pocket. Yeah. M uh since the new release is something that they have they as J1 they are experimenting with for the new first time. It has more EDM to it which is a little new for them as well and it has a lot of catchy beats and they hope that when people listen to it they can imitate that as well and enjoy the music and I’m sure they will. But uh uh how has the uh have you heard much of Indian music and like how has that influenced you or any artists you kind of feel inspired by or want to team up with? So this time they visited India and learned a lot about the variety of music that we have over here. And one of he heard a lot of music but one of his favorites was Jaho where somehow it did not feel Indian but it is Indian and it was a very fresh uh kind of experience for them to listen to that. What is your experience with Indian music? So he lot a lot he watched a lot of music videos Indian music videos and the first thing that uh he noticed was how there are so many people dancing in the videos. So sometime he wants that if he shoots a video in India sometime he’s looking forward to dancing with a huge team. Yeah. Dance runs in Indian blood. Let me tell you it runs in Indian blood. But uh any Indian artists that you want to team up with and create music with and maybe kind of uh amalgamate and mix the kind of Indian and Japanese music. Yes. Yes. Lang Rahman is a very is creating a lot of music and producing creating producing a lot of music not just in India but also overseas. because and because of that he can teach them about the best part of the Indian music as well as take the best parts of music all over the world. So if they get an opportunity to collaborate with them but uh you are in Mumbai it is the heart of Indian film industry Bollywood. So uh is acting something as well that is something you would like to pursue in India? M not just uh music but acting also in India. Yes. Yes. I hope uh I think you should try it out. But uh have you uh do you know of any Indian acting like Indian actors that you know about that you would love to kind of meet or maybe have a conversation with or work with? Yes. But Shah Rukhar and Amitab Bachan like you have chosen the legends. Legends. Yes. Yeah. Both are legends. But uh let me tell you like there would be many actresses also in India who would be uh love who would love to kind of star opposite you in a film and uh recently we had a Indo-Vietnamese film in India. So hopefully a Indo-Japanese love story also we can try out with you and kind of bring it to the four. So They definitely want to meet some actresses as well. But be interesting to talk about the love story movie. Yeah. First meet them then decide who do you want to do a love story with. Yeah. But hopefully hopefully we will get to see one soon with both of you as uh I think the the audience would love it. But I have to ask you spoke about Indian food your experience and like kind of what you want to try also but uh how has been the experience with Indian food till now? What have you loved the most and like uh you want to try more of? [Laughter] Mumbai vapa same both are the same. Vapo is the identity. Oh, Samosa. Samosa. Samosa. Samosa. I like samosa. I love the one. Yes. Uh I didn’t like it. Uh you don’t like pun pun. I didn’t really like like it. Fire pan. Do you like p? Uh I like versions of pan. So uh Indians make very different versions of pan. What you ate was like the typical one. It’s a sweet pan. There is ice pan, there’s fire pan, there’s chocolate pan, there strawberry pans. There is a pan that they light up. Try it. You want to try different version. You should. There’s a pan they light up on fire and then they put it in your mouth. Many you won’t get to do it yourself. They will do it for you. You don’t have any uh back seats there. Okay. Okay. They will put it in your mouth after lighting it up. Yeah. So, see that’s the reaction. That’s the reaction. That’s the reaction shot we want. Amazing. Oh, that’s right. Yeah. That is something. But uh uh I think the audience would love to see you uh eat a fire pan and then do some Bollywood steps. I think that would make for the perfect scene. imperfect situation but uh have you uh I’m not sure what you have watched till now but is there something that you really want to watch from Indian films or Indian shows or something Indian content that you want to watch now bads of Bollywood baths of Bollywood bads of Bollywood he wants to watch it’s a it’s a mirror of uh a little satirical but a mirror of how the film industry functions that will be a good uh guide for you before you enter the industry But uh what message would you like to give to your Indian fans who love you so much and uh who really want to see you perform on stage here as well? After visiting India, they think that India is a very interesting and a very beautiful lovely country. So next time they definitely want to come with all the 11 members and perform lives over here and uh also want the Indian fans to learn more about their strengths and uh the music that they make. I want the Indians to know more about that as well. They are waiting to do another live over here. And India loves you. What would you say to your Indian fans? Next time when they come, they definitely want to do concerts and then fan meetings and also go for a lot of meals with everyone. Yeah. And uh have you learned any Hindi phrase yet? Hindi phrase. Ah word and see you have done a complete conversation in these four words that start namaste. Yeah yeah yeah yeah you are on the right track I have to say this but uh lastly I have to ask what is that one thing from your experience from India that you will take back to Japan? A the moment that he had pan was the largest impression. It was a huge shock to have that to taste that taste. Completely new taste. You might get used to it later. You never know. Yes. Yes. Yes. He wants to try a lot more. Yeah. For you. What is that one thing you’ll take back? Uh I know the moment that uh everyone asked to a lot of people were asking to take photos was a lot of shock. The Indians give love in abundance and we don’t hold back. We love to express our love very publicly and I’m sure the next time you come the love will be manifold large larger because uh we are just kind of getting you warmed up to it. Next time it will be in full flow. So thank you so much for taking out this time. Thank you so much giving us this and dhad lots of love from India too. Thank you. Thanks so much. Thank you so much. Must must.
