宮沢氷魚が触れた〈シャネル〉の手仕事。『𝑙𝑎 Galerie 𝑑𝑢 19M Tokyo』への誘い。vol.3
Hey. Hi. I’m Nick. I’m Hio. Nice to meet you. How are you? Good. How are you? Yeah, good. [Music] So today I want to have um a discussion about your work uh towards this exhibition. Yeah. Do you have like a a theme or like a concept that you have in mind in working with this exhibition? I’ve been coming up with a um an interesting concept uh which was I called it sonic thread and I was imagining a piece of Chanel thread from Paris all the way to Tokyo. And that piece of thread obviously is connecting the two countries, the two cities, but also uh thread if you stretch it will also make a sound. It has a frequency. Uh it’s a it can we can pluck it and we can create a tone which means I can play a melody. But it’s kind of a a metaphor for just this idea. I I love the idea of using non-m musical um sounds to create a sonic soundsscape, a sonic story in a way. I’ve spent the morning recording these incredible artisans. Mhm. We just recorded the sounds of some of the artisans working. Some of the sounds, you know, like we the sound of someone sewing, the sound of thread or the sound of a needle piercing fabric. Uh, it’s a very detailed, but it’s it’s a sound you recognize. I’ll end up with a lot of sound files that I’ll edit and then I will manipulate and process these sounds and stretch them and uh take them out of their you know that how we recorded them and take them on a journey. So yeah, I have the materials, I have the idea. Now the hard work is how do I make it into this interesting piece? And for this project, are we going to hear sounds from from Tokyo or from Japan? We certainly are. I want to bring in some of the sounds that are iconic in Paris and then definitely Tokyo cuz where where the um exhibition is located on the top floor of Mori Arts Museum, we have this incredible view, one of the best views in Tokyo. Um there there’s a a very beautifully designed room. We’re going to have a sound system in there and guests who go into this room will experience this uh this sonic um installation. Exciting. What is [Music]
