Superb from Ramods. Reconstructed point. For the first time in the tiebreak, it’s advantage no maka game and first she did it the hard way in the end. near Miaaka off to a great start by seven games to six then had a few struggles got there eventually taking the first set in the tieb break in 53 minutes brilliant from a saka [Applause] Third seal. That’s magnificent. And the defending champion makes the early breakthrough in the second set. It’s a tremendous second set from Susan Lammons by six games to three. Really impressive after the disappointment of not serving out the first, losing it in the tie break. She has bounced back superbly. Take us into a decider here on center court. Six games to three in 30. Oh, one of the best points of the match. 30. Absolutely magnificent from Lamold. Oh, these two are taking it up a level now. [Applause] Oh, it’s brilliant. How has she done that? 76 36 62 struggling to move in those final couple of games. The Nomi Asaka getting the win and knocking out the defending champion. It’s a bittersweet moment I think for the number one seed. And it remains to be seen just how much more she can do in this tournament. But she’s got the win here in three sets. 76 3662

  1. Naomi takes too long to change the direction of the ball. She plays like she's practicing. Well done though.

  2. この会場にはAIのライン審判装置がない。微妙なところで誤審があったらと思うと、心配になる。

  3. Ugh once again we are talkin about someone with a minor to mild injury late in the season. Its getting frustrating to see. I truly think 2026 will see the changes to the events players pick, and if this continues we might see a players strike or something of that nature

  4. injury looks serious. likely pulling out. a shame…. with noskova out, she should be the favourite to win this

  5. Those tears at the end is why I watch WTA. You know she wanted that win so bad and it was a lot closer than appears. A few mistakes and Lamens would have won.

  6. Ahh I hope the injury is not too serious. Naomi had signed up for Tokyo and HongKong open as well which could have brought her very close to the top 10. But it doesn't look like she will be able to play such close tournaments with that injury.

  7. I know it might not be fair, but I often feel like there's a heaviness around Osaka—something deeper than just being unhappy. It sometimes seems like being out there is a burden for her, even though she earns millions and has opportunities most people could only dream of. There’s a disconnect between her privilege and how she carries it.

  8. Those tears of relief hit me! She's playing a 250 tournament. For her to not win in the 2nd round would have crushed her. Just a few months ago to be in the final of a 1000 boosted her confidence. We are here for you Osaka!!!! She puts so much pressure on herself.

  9. It's so hard to watch Naomi sometimes. I think she's a great player but her emotions always seem to get the best of her. The moment just seems to big for her or something.

  10. Congrats to Naomi. But I really don't like that shy and uninterested pose of Naomi. Like a Japanese giggling girl that does not know what the world has to offer.

  11. I think Naomi is upset because at the end she got injured and it could be the end for this tournament

  12. Just looking at Osaka movement, it’s like she doesn’t have anything in her tool bag. No slices, drop shot, just hitting hard.

  13. I was a big fan of Naomi until I saw her speech in Canada after losing the final to Vicki M. It was ungracious of her and beneath her, that she never uttered a single word of Vicki's presence.
