迎えたファイナルセットは、互いに２度ずつブレークを奪い合う接戦となり、勝負はタイブレークにもつれ込む。このタイブレークで西岡は相手にマッチポイントを握られると、最後はラインすれすれに放った自身のショットがアウトと判定される。判定に納得できず激しく抗議した西岡だったが、主審の判定は変わらず２回戦敗退となった。
