Is this based on Chinese manga I think I saw one like this in manga
One hour in of this Paw Print (all iterations translate Jiang Ye as Paw Print and it's a joke among all of us drama watchers who had seen the different ones) version, I'm not sure whether I want to continue. I saw the original 9000 Yeh Paw Print with the sexy humor and this one is going the complete opposite with gothic and macabre going-ons. The writer even borrowed the "take your eyes" thing from the other revenge rebirth drama where the Prime Minister of Torture ML liked to threaten the FL about skinning her and taking her eyes because they were so beautiful. Anyway, this version definitely does not have the infamous bathtub scene or the jade tool sex toy scene. Not yet, anyway. And the FL has no chemistry whatsoever with Paw Print (not that I blame her–the guy was just scary to her). It's just one hour of her running off here and there and him going "I wonder why she doesn't trust me." And he didn't say that ironically! LOLOL. I'll save this with the other Paw Print for comparison but gosh, I'm struggling with continuing.
This plot is beyond stupid. Everyone ran around doing stupid things and then died stupidly without understanding how stupid they were
Although this C-Drama version may not have been as well-received as the other more popular fake eunuch C-Dramas out there, I still managed to enjoy this one for its divergent storyline.
There was a great scene in the beginning with the ML writing the imperial decree and stamping it with the Emperor's seal and the subsequent scenes between the visually appealing ML and the FL that were all good to watch. There was a bit of twists and turns and impactful revelations by both the ML (near the end) and FL (at the end).
Overall, this adaptation was still pretty decent and a worthwhile watch imo and I felt that it was a substantially different story (not a reborn story and no swapped husbands in this one) from the fake eunuch "finger" version but shared some similar elements and therefore, it was almost a separate plotline.
The ML was🔥and good eye candy. He was actually quite protective of the FL and fell for her after being immediately attracted to her and recognized her as the little girl that was kind to him in the past.
I found the FL likeable at times but annoyingly stupid and weak most of the time, especially when she constantly returns to her so-called family residence. She behaves like a naive weakling when dealing with her villainous father, stepmother and sister. I don't understand why she kept going back to those horrid folks when she had already severed ties with her father. However, she was still a good person and tried her best to find out the truth about her birth mom's death and clear her name. She was loyal to the ML and chose to willingly stay by his side.
The main villain in this one is the Empress Dowager who supposedly carries the late Emperor's son. She tried to constantly hurt and get rid of the FL but fortunately, this evil bug-eyed witch goes crazy at the end.
Although this C-Drama did not have the most romantic scenes due to constant interruptions, they did have good chemistry with real kisses and there was a bit of compatibility, understanding, love and respect between this couple which grew stronger over time. ❤

As a rule, I don't always care for the vertical drama, but this was rather engaging and caught my interest. Pretty good.
2:04:47 this is the only scene 🎬 where it’s finally explained 😊 whether he’s an eunuch or not 🙄 but you not only cut the sound of the video 🤷♀️ but also didn’t put any subtitles 🙃 So all the way to the end 🤨 I’m still wandering if he’s actually an eunuch or not 🤷♀️
