iPhone 16 Proで撮影 | ラストシーンの舞台裏 | Apple

[Shot on iPhone 16 Pro] I thought, “Why not try something new?” Using an iPhone would definitely change the way of shooting, and the role of the cinematographer. So, I thought I could take on this new challenge. The film’s theme is about what remains and what disappears in the future. Exploring that aspect within the framework of a love story was the initial concept. [Behind the Last Scene] [Hirokazu Kore-eda, Director / Screenwriter / Editor]
Superheroes can save the world and their family at the same time, but in reality, those two things are often incompatible. That means people have to make choices. I wanted to write a story with a touch of bitterness, where the act of choosing is what matters. “For the future of TV drama.” [Mikiya Takimoto, Cinematographer]
Actually, when filming movies, I often use iPhone as an angle finder, so it was a bit of a unique experience to be able to shoot directly with it. [Cinematic Mode] [Cinematic Mode]
We used Cinematic mode quite a lot this time. We used Cinematic mode quite a lot this time. Like when we needed to make someone stand out against a blurred foreground or background. When using iPhone in everyday life, I often use Cinematic mode. To put it simply, it makes things look better. “Go, go, go!” [Action Mode] [Action Mode]
When the two cast members are running to ride on the Ferris wheel, When the two cast members are running to ride on the Ferris wheel, we used Action mode. The iPhone was shaking a lot [Non-stabilized / Stabilized]
but the footage was completely stable. [Non-stabilized / Stabilized] [Non-stabilized / Stabilized]
Personally, I love to take cool shots. [Taiga Nakano, Kurata]
Personally, I love to take cool shots. So this level of stabilization makes filming way more fun. [5x Optical Zoom] [5x Optical Zoom]
You can see facial expressions quite clearly. You can see facial expressions quite clearly. [Momoko Fukuchi, Yui / Kotono / Rena]
Even zoomed in at 5x, it’s amazing how clearly it comes out. I use it when taking photos to frame the picture how I like or when I feel like I need to zoom in at that moment. Kore-eda-san just taught me this. Since it’s an optical telephoto lens, I think the image quality, especially how beautiful the shots look, has definitely improved a lot. “Okay, let’s hurry.” [Photographic Styles]

At this shoot, I shot pictures alongside filming. At this shoot, I shot pictures alongside filming. I was able to experiment with different tones before shooting. Even after taking the shot, I could easily adjust the tone of the image. All of this was really intuitive and simple to use. We added slow motion [Slo-mo]
We added slow motion [Slo-mo]
because we wanted this scene to have a stronger and lasting impression. It gives a 5x slow motion effect compared to real-time, all in 4K resolution. Slow motion worked well in that scene. When I tested the function, I chose to use it in that scene without hesitation. If Kurata were to remember, I think it would be in slow motion, that’s why I chose to do those 2 scenes that way. “It’s the sea!” When you see something like a thundercloud, or a rainbow, with iPhone, you are assured that you can always capture it beautifully. I think the fact that we can shoot a film like this with iPhone might encourage people to give it a try. This kind of inspiration could make things more exciting. There will definitely be a revolution in visual expression, no matter what and that will come from the younger generation, the native users of the technology. I think I’ll just watch it from afar, feeling somewhat envious.
