香港史上最Juicy判詞|王德輝家族秘密|龔如心連敗兩仗 何以最終能反敗為勝?|【第93集:龔如心遺產爭奪戰系列二】|危險人物2.0 【CC中英字幕】
Where is the highlight? The highlight lies in Chan Chun-chung presenting his case in court Little Sweetie made a will in 2002 Bequeathing her assets to be managed by the Hong Kong government And the Prime Minister of CCP Together with the Secretary-General of United Nations To be managed with the UN Secretary-General The purpose of these wills Is to ensure her victory in the final court trial This economic disparity is the most crucial Why is that? In the lawsuit between her father-in-law and Little Sweetie Little Sweetie has always shaped an image before the judge as Wang Teh-huei hates his father So he would never draw up a will leaving all property to his father and not to Little Sweetie Yung Ching Ching “Dangerous Person 2.0” Welcome to “Dangerous Person 2.0” Here with my Mentor Madam Yung And myself Martin Yeung Last time we discussed Wang Teh-huei and Kung Yu-sum’s kidnapping case And the whole story behind it The main focus was on Wang Teh-huei Today’s focus will be on Nina Kung Yu-sum We have many documents on hand I think it’s worth discussing here I’ve made a cup of coffee One for you and one for me This judge was Mr. Justice Yam Yee-kwan His verdict is in both Chinese and English I think although this judgment Was completely overturned by the Court of Final Appeal And Judge Yam received a lot of criticism But nonetheless To be fair He really wrote a very good judgment As you can see here This thick stack over six hundred pages And it’s printed double-sided This is Judge Yam’s Chinese judgment And there’s an English version as well If you like reading about these histories I think they’re very interesting This judgment has a total of eleven chapters So as you see 11 chapters And in these 11 chapters It discusses the disputes And also tells many stories There are many revelations And it even explains to you The origin of the Chinachem Group Why it’s called Chinachem Exactly Have you ever thought that its English name Chinachem Chinachem it was originally called China Chem Why is it called Chinachem? So what’s the reason behind it? And everyone knows Little Sweetie seems to be very infatuated with her husband Wang Teh-huei But are their relationship really this good? Actually that’s not the case Both of them had other romantic affairs Many similar incidents And it turns out Wang Teh-huei once forged a report card And was expelled from the St Stephen’s College in Stanley There are many such revealing details So I think these are really worth reflecting on historically In my previous episode I mentioned Wang Teh-huei was Legally declared dead the court ruled that he was dead They also dismissed Nina’s testimony as unacceptable That’s Justice Yam Yes And now Little Sweetie is back in Judge Yam’s hands Yeah she’s actually back again with him And the trial lasted many days So I really don’t understand why Actually Nina could request a change of judge Because he had such a poor impression of her Wouldn’t that lead to bias? I think it probably would And things might not have happened the way they did later Hard to say But if he thinks what she said can’t be trusted it is truly hard to say Because during the first trial when Wang Din Sin hoped to declare Wang Teh-huei dead Little Sweetie gave testimony in court Little Sweetie gave testimony in court But when it came to this inheritance dispute That is about the will Whether the 1990 will is genuine Or whether the 1968 will is valid She did not testify in court Exactly She did not testify in court did not appear in court to give testimony She only relied on documents which were witness statements Yes in this regard she refused to give live testimony Mr. Justice Yam have some negative opinions about her But by the time it reached the Court of Final Appeal I stated they overturned all that The general view of the Court of Final Appeal Was to support her decision of not testifying She would otherwise be humiliated forcing her to reveal her private matters She must have had her reasons not to testify Her private life would be exposed including extramarital affairs and more Of course she had her reasons So as you can see by the time it reached the Court of Final Appeal the entire story had a big twist Everyone knew that in the end the case was decided that the 1990 will titled “One Love One Life”— One Life One Love— that the will was genuine And eventually a person named Chan Chun-chung suddenly appeared Yes Chan Chun-chung came forward To repeat history again The case was replayed Chan produced a will claiming Little Sweetie left everything to him He wished to set aside Little Sweetie’s 2002 will But what’s the most interesting part? The interesting part is Chan told the judge in court that the reason Little Sweetie made her 2002 will Entrusting all her money to the Hong Kong government And the central government and the Prime Minister Together with the United Nations Secretary-General to the United Nations Secretary-General for management The purpose of the will Was to ensure that the final court will rule in her favor And also to ensure that the police would no longer charge her with forgery So these are some intriguing pieces of information that appeared in these cases What exactly happened? Well perhaps we should start by talking about a bit of history It turns out that Wang Din Sin The father, Mr. Wang senior Was already a successful figure very early on The story goes back to 1911 Wang Teh-huei’s father was Wang Din Sin The father of Wang Din Sin was Wang Chung Nga He was running a dye business in Wenzhou doing very well The company was called “Yick Wah Fung Dye Company” What kind of business was that? It was an agency of ICI in Britain This company is very famous for its dye products ICI Imperial a dye company from the Great Britain It produces chemical products it’s still in business today Dulux paint is a product of ICI Yes So it’s a prominent British company Back then during the early Republic period in China around 1911 just after overthrowing the emperor after China no longer had an emperor they were already operating in the late Qing and early Republic period They started their business then Later when Wang Din Sin was 17 years old he joined his father’s company helping with the dye business Talking about the British ICI let’s talk about Little Sweetie’s father He was an employee of ICI Yes So when Little Sweetie was 3 years old she already knew Wang Teh-huei’s family Yes When she was 3 she went to their house to play Yes This means Wang Teh-huei and Little Sweetie knew each other since childhood They were childhood sweethearts Now Wang Din Sin inherited his father Wang Chung Nga’s chemical business Later they moved from Wenzhou to Shanghai Due to the outbreak of war they stayed in Shanghai Starting their business there And how did the name “Chinachem” come about? It turns out there was a restaurant called “Wah Mou” Yes in Shanghai they often held meetings and dined there They used the name 「華懋飯店」(Wah Mou) for their own company for convenience Yes so when the case went to court Wang Din Sin (the father-in-law) produced many old photos You can see in a group photo a group of foreigners and Wang Din Sin and people from ICI There was a big sign at the entrance of that place Reads 「華懋飯店」Wah Mou Restaurant) They adopted this name as the name for their Shanghai chemical company Now why is it called Chinachem? Chem refers to Chemistry meaning chemicals So look at Hong Kong’s Chinachem Group even though they are in real estate you can see “CHEM” because of the original chemical business Aren’t these details quite interesting? All these details can be found in the court judgment Later after Japan’s defeat in the war they came to Hong Kong They started Chinachem in Shanghai later they started a branch of Chinachem in Hong Kong That Hong Kong branch was a subsidiary Expanding their business into Hong Kong Later due to trade sanctions because China and the United States had political disputes at the time business in Mainland China was affected Materials like raw materials couldn’t be sent to the US making things very complicated So later Chinachem registered as a local Hong Kong company It was no longer a branch of Shanghai but a locally registered Hong Kong company Because Hong Kong wasn’t subject to the sanctions Yes this was how they bypassed the trade embargo That was the background history Yes but at that time the Korean War broke out Meanwhile Wang Din Sin rented many staff dormitories in Happy Valley and nearby areas in Hong Kong when the Korean War broke out there were political sanctions They were frozen by the US over US$40000 at that time the economy was very bad This economic downturn was significant Why is that? During the lawsuit between the in-laws Little Sweetie kept trying to shape an image before the judge which was that Wang Teh-huei hated his father very much So he couldn’t possibly make a will leaving all the money to his father and not give anything to Little Sweetie So how did she shape this narrative? She focused on the financial issues during the Korean War During the war Chinachem couldn’t operate normally business was bad The US$40000 was frozen which was a large amount at the time A very significant sum At that time Chinachem’s registered capital was about 6 million or 600000 I don’t remember exactly It was 600000 Actually Wang Din Sin was very good to Wang Teh-huei His company had issued 6000 shares He gave 1000 shares to Wang Teh-huei he had already given him one-tenth of the company At that time Wang Teh-huei was only in his teens Still in school Then Wang Din Sin also mentioned that the trade embargo during the Korean War had a big impact on him He had an interview in 1999 Do you remember? It was probably from Next Magazine Yes he was interviewed by Next Magazine In that interview he said that the Korean War at that time caused his company’s business to decline significantly As a result his son Wang Teh-huei lacked substantial financial support He was forced to drop out of school Now this dropping out is actually a key point Because Little Sweetie kept saying that Wang Teh-huei hated his father Because his father mismanaged the business Which made it impossible for him to continue studying At that time he was studying at St Stephen’s College in Stanley Hong Kong He was about 14 years old when he enrolled He all along studied there At that time he wanted to go to a US university called Is it Drew University? Yes And that university basically accepted Wang Teh-huei That’s right Wang Din Sin is remarkable He preserved all documents from the 1910s 1920s and 1930s He found a school certificate That was a letter from the principal of Drew University asking the principal in Stanley about Wang Teh-huei He wrote to inquire about him Asked whether this student had the means to pay the tuition fees The principal of St Stephen’s College in Stanley responded He said there should be no problem They have never owed any tuition fees Alright but Little Sweetie then wanted to use this matter to undermine the father-son relationship Why would Wang Din Sin bring up this issue? Did he lied? Yes because the reason why Wang Teh-huei did not attend university in the United States It wasn’t due to financial difficulties Instead Wang Teh-huei forged documents He falsely reported his grades at St Stephen’s College He submitted these to the university and was caught In fact he really wanted to attend that university at the time But he wanted to do it quickly So he filled out some subjects he hadn’t taken yet on his transcripts He hadn’t completed some of the exams He simply filled in scores like 100 50 80 and so on But in reality those exams had not taken place yet If he had taken the exams properly just wait it might not have been that serious He filled in the scores himself Falsified the transcript and sent it to the US But he was exposed after being exposed he was expelled from St Stephen’s College This is Wang Family’s big secret Only two people knew about it: One is Wang Din Sin and the other is Wang Teh-huei Little Sweetie doesn’t know No one else knows So Little Sweetie pinned the blame on the father saying he was prevented from studying because of him And his father was also a very caring father During a 1999 interview with Next Magazine he remained silent They said “I have no money to support him studying” and were unwilling to expose their son This is something they revealed in court The judge also said it was a huge secret It’s their family secret a family secret Yes no one is allowed to talk about this This was the first time it was spoken openly in court So you can see that within the entire case there are mainly two main issues: First Little Sweetie wanted to testify that her father-in-law and husband had a poor relationship And on the father’s side they claimed Wang Teh-huei never trusted Little Sweetie So he wouldn’t give her everything Now let’s talk about how Kung Yu-sum and Wang Teh-huei got married They knew each other since they were young In fact she got married at the age of 19 Where? The date was set on Nina’s birthday Actually the evidence in court showed that her father-in-law said “We followed her wishes” She chose the day and on that day they went to the location which was the former Legislative Council That is the building of the former Court of Final Appeal now located in Central The old building opposite HSBC Bank Because some people might not know a wedding was held there And that day was Little Sweetie’s birthday she turned 19 Alright the family came to Hong Kong Little Sweetie came from Shanghai After arriving she married him They were actually childhood sweethearts They already decided to get married Back then the whole family lived together including Wang Din Sin and his wife and several of his children Including Dr Kung at that time They were still young There was also a Ip Lee Kwong Ip Lee Kwong was the son of the father’s sister Later in this case he played a very important role Ip is a very upright person Without Ip there would be no Wang Teh-huei’s later achievements Ip is Wang Teh-huei’s cousin Right They lived together Later because Little Sweetie got married he moved out But Wang Teh-huei always held great respect for this cousin because he was very successful in business Yes in the judgment it reads Wong would often ask Ip’s opinion For example in business how Ip’s business in Shanghai was conducted and how to deploy strategies when coming to Hong Kong or where the next business opportunity lies All consult with Mr. Ip I think Little Sweetie made one mistake That is during the court trial she used a lot of her legal resources How should I put it? to attack Ip Lee Kwong attacking him very aggressively But Ip was truly a very upright person So the more you attack him people see especially the judge might not leave a good impression right? Let’s talk about Ip Lee Kwong When Ip saw Wang Teh-huei and Little Sweetie get married he moved out They used to live together But he maintained a close relationship Later Ip set eyes on the plastic flowers business Flowers made from plastic—remember at that time plastic had just been invented Yes In Hong Kong almost everyone was involved in making plastic flowers Even the Ma Jie (local maid) you would see them bringing home a bag of materials out of the blue She would ask the young master to help make artificial flowers Back then it was considered high-tech Li Ka-shing also did plastic flower business this way That was his first start-up capital When I was young I helped out a lot Because Ma Jie would bring back a lot It was profitable She would bring back bags of materials Anyway during that time plastic flowers and wigs were very popular Yes Then Ip said Why don’t we make plastic flowers? Because they had good connections for sourcing raw materials abroad They used to work in chemical industries remember? The plastic flower business was very successful They made a lot of money According to records the first year was over 700000 The next year exceeded one million It wasn’t a small amount at that time We’re talking about the years 1959 to 1960 which accumulated to over 17 million in two years That’s an astronomical figure You should know it’s not the same as 17 million now What happened next? Later they used this money to find the next opportunity The next opportunity Wang Teh-huei believed that the next opportunity was Hong Kong’s real estate industry Using the money made from plastic flowers and plastics he invested and started Chinachem Group At that time Wang Teh-huei was 27 years old When he took this step he also consulted with his father Because we must not forget this was actually a family business right? So they started building buildings each project following another in a chain In the later stages they expanded their business into Taiwan This was all made possible through Ip helping them find pathways However when they went to Taiwan the business was not doing very well The reason was that Wang Teh-huei wanted to be built very small very narrow units To create small individual units Later on this conflicted with local laws Eventually the business in Taiwan fell apart This also caused a lot of unhappy incidents But Ip always supported him helping him with many things Let’s briefly talk about who Ip Lee Kwong was what kind of person he was Later Chinachem obviously continued to grow bigger and bigger It became a kingdom worth hundreds of billions Ip always held shares in it Yes he had shares in this company all along Later on many bad things started to happen We will explain in detail later What happened? It was about the father-in-law Wang Din Sin discovering that Kung Yu-sum had a boyfriend After finding out she had a boyfriend he even hired a private detective to check on her Then Wang Teh-huei knew about it searching through Kung Yu-sum’s belongings He found a pack of contraceptive pills At that time Wang Teh-huei already knew that after seeing a doctor in the US and returning he found out he couldn’t have children So why would his wife have contraceptive pills? He grew more suspicious Later based on this evidence Little Sweetie admitted to having an affair with a businessman who had business dealings As a result her marriage became very unhappy But Ip was completely scapegoated Ip testified in court that Wang Teh-huei sometimes lacked balance in his actions Sine Wang Teh-huei aimed to protect his father He often unintentionally or intentionally pushed all the responsibilities onto Ip With regard to finding out about Nina Kung’s affairs So Little Sweetie hated Ip Lee Kwong very much Wang Teh-huei obviously wouldn’t disclose his father’s actions right? They father and son protect each other So Ip is caught in the middle He knew he was wrongfully accused to have hired a private detective He was wrongly accused of finding the birth control pills When Wang Teh-huei found the pills he immediately consulted Ip What is this? Help me find out what this is A few pills were taken Ip Lee Kwong then said “I don’t know” Soon after Wang Teh-huei show him a new package A packet of the same birth control pills Ip didn’t say anything about it All of this was brought up in court These were things that were previously unknown Who exactly was involved Ip Lee Kwong took the blame for these accusations In the end there’s really no point to stay Little Sweetie kept targeting him She hated him very much At this moment he felt he should leave So he sold his shares at a very cheap price Sold back to Wang Teh-huei It should be several million By that time it was already in the hundreds of millions Yeah He said he didn’t care Whatever With very little money He returned all his shares to Wang Teh-huei So his character is so noble Yes He doesn’t really care about money no matter how much Wang pleaded him to stay He said he would rathe leave with so little money And that the Wang should accept it quickly He know his shares worth a lot But if he asked for more money They would never let him go He almost gave away everything for free He just wants to leave Please let me go The Wang family certainly didn’t want him to leave Because in fact Ip had been a great help As the evidence and judgment also mention In addition to managing accounts He also helped run the real estate business Every time land is auctioned Ip Lee Kwong attended together with Wang Teh-huei Then all the buildings He was involved in building design Also contacted architects And signed contracts with contractors And decided on the selling price And designed the sales brochure It’s like he handled everything himself The entire group was under his control So when his group was at its most successful He chose to leave with a compensation that was token He just wanted to go So you see such a person Would go to court and give detail evidence All the things that weren’t his fault but he would be the scapegoat And when he truthfully and honestly testified He was continuously attacked by Little Sweetie’s lawyer The attacks were fierce Really intense You must understand that these involve such a large amount of money the court was observing The lawyers questioned Ip for extended period of time Asking many irrelevant and trivial questions Or some sharp and sarcastic attacks Yes that’s correct Up to this point we all need to clarify The dispute between Little Sweetie and the father in law How many copies of the will are there? There are a total of three The first one is from 1960 The second is from 1968 Both are held by the father in law Suddenly Little Sweetie produced a document It’s a will from 1990 I can tell you Both of the instructions from the family patriarch are reasonable and legal They were signed at a law firm As for Little Sweetie’s version It’s a bunch of four sheets of random papers Honestly I don’t even know how to describe it; I’m completely at a loss I will release it later for you to see These four documents are completely— It’s impossible that one person does so much business and interacts with lawyers so skillfully Even I don’t know why under what circumstances he made these wills But the will drafted by Wang Teh-huei in 1960 and 1968 were made at a law firm Please tell me about that Both of those wills are very formal The first one from 1960 was drafted at WOO & CO PC’s firm It states that half will go to the father Wang Din Sin and the other half to Nina Kung Yu-sum And if Nina has children she is to hold their inheritance in trust For the children Yes this means half for the father and half for Kung Yu-sum They got married just after 1960 they were married in 1955 But Little Sweetie’s half is not for her alone If she has children Little Sweetie’s half should be divided again and given to her children So actually Little Sweetie only has 25% At that time Wang Teh-huei still didn’t know he was unable to have children Yes that’s why he made this kind of will Alright now let’s talk about the 1968 will It was prepared at a law firm called Frederick Zimmern The witness was Lawyer Donald Quentin Cheung And the founder of Frederick Zimmern who was also a witness He served as a witness The content was much simpler at that time It simply stated that all the property would go to his father Wang Din Sin Yes why was it like that? Little Sweetie would have gotten nothing at all The reason is exactly what I just mentioned He found out that Little Sweetie was having an extramarital affair And by that time they already knew that Wang Teh-huei was incapable of having children This was during the years from 1960 to 1968 It was around ’65 or ’66 that a lot of conflicts started happening He found out she had a lover so he hired a private detective and discovered things like birth control pills So he wouldn’t give her a single penny After this 1968 will was established Wang Teh-huei went to the bank to open an account a safe deposit box open He opened a safe deposit box tell me about it In 1968 Wang Teh-huei opened a safe deposit box at Bank of Canton The key was given to his father Wang Teh-huei The authorized person who could sign was Ip Lee Kwong Which means in other words two people together were needed to open the safe deposit box Yes this business of opening the safe deposit box was one month before he made the will Meaning he opened the safe deposit box first and then went to the law firm to make the will And after having the will of course he placed the will inside the safe deposit box which was the version that did not include Little Sweetie at all But according to the opening records this box was accessed before 1990 when her father-in-law applied for a death certificate in 1997 He went to court to apply for the death certificate but actually before that father-in-law had already gone to open this safe deposit box to retrieve the will inside However from 1968 to 1995 that is before he officially applied In all these years the box was only opened once which was in 1975 That’s right It was only in 1975 that Wang Teh-huei went once Yes There is reason to believe that he did so in 1975 He went to put some things inside What was found inside the box when it was opened? There were some photos of women Mmhmm Some photos of women he loved There were three So please tell us In fact you could tell by the photos that they were women he had intimate relationships with There was also a letter written to him by a woman some love letters full of affection This woman was Taiwanese Because you remember I said just now that Wang Teh-huei did real estate in Taiwan Not very successfully But he frequently traveled back and forth to Taiwan during that time All three were Taiwanese women One of them wrote a letter saying: “Oh no oh no I received a phone call It must have been your wife calling” In the letter it was said like this: It was questioning whether his wife discovered a love letter and many photos and the will inside In other words if you look at the timeline the court would interpret and deduce Wang Teh-huei had several girlfriends before Little Sweetie had her boyfriend In other words Wang Teh-huei was cheating first and Little Sweetie later But you speaking of the society back then you couldn’t talk about gender equality Men could have an affair but women couldn’t So these are the items inside the safe deposit box it was roughly after Wang Teh-huei disappeared that is after being kidnapped about six to seven years later Old Mr. Wang remembered this will Then he talked to Ip about this matter and they went to open the box But I remember at that time for some reason they couldn’t find the key Wang Din Sin said he couldn’t find the key So actually the other key was found among Wang Teh-huei’s belongings Is that right? Yes But no matter what later they applied to the bank to pry open the safe deposit box When they pried it open the bank also sent a lawyer He went to make a list Yes But the lawyer representing Wang Din Sin opposed saying not to make a list It was Ip Lee Kwong’s lawyer Ip Lee Kwong’s lawyer? Ip Lee Kwong is actually a very honest person He didn’t go inside to open the box He just waited at the door He sent a staff member from a law firm That wasn’t a lawyer It was a staff member who went in The bank had their lawyer who offered To act as witness He was independent He was duty bound to make a list That law clerk was quite sharp-tongued He said “What are you doing? Don’t touch these things” Don’t touch anything The wages you earn in your whole life won’t be enough It’s completely incomparable The wages you earn aren’t even a fraction of this Yeah that really shouldn’t have happened These things were all disclosed in court So the law firm’s staff member scolded the bank lawyer He said “You’ll be poor your whole life” You shouldn’t touch the things in the box Meaning “You can’t afford to compensate” As a result this lawyer felt very helpless They said “If that’s the case” please lock it up first Yes So they locked it back up Later through court procedures they brought the tax bureau two staff members and opened it They went to open it And found the same things were inside the box So they registered all those things Then a list was written A list was made Okay this will was taken out at that time This was in 1995 I remember it was either ’95 or ’96? It seems like ’96 right? Yeah everything was retreived in ’97 The first opening was in February The second time the tax bureau opened it was in April Alright at this point it’s 1997 That means Wang Teh-huei has been missing for seven years Old Mr. Wang took action And before this date for Little Sweetie she completely didn’t expect that this bomb would explode this way Because Mr. Wang every day went to Chinachem to read the newspaper every day went back to the office Business as usual Seemed like nothing happened But suddenly in 1997 after opening the box he went to court to apply to declare Wang Teh-huei dead He also went to declare that the will from 1968 should be carried out This means Little Sweetie had nothing Only at this point did Little Sweetie realize what was happening So she fought back The first thing she fought for was to tell the court that it was possible Wang Teh-huei was not dead And in this confrontation she said something She already disclosed at that time She said the 1968 will was superseded and not valid The reason was that Wang Teh-huei subsequently made a new will meaning there were other beneficiaries But she never produced the new will Until later when she was forced to the opponent said that old Mr. Wang’s side said they would do an “Unless Order” Which in Chinese is called what? Called “Chu Fei Ming Ling” (Unless Order) Meaning you must do certain things otherwise your whole case is over Which means the court will issue an order saying you must hand over this document hand it over within such and such date Otherwise I will rule against you That’s the idea Later her case became a so-called estate litigation When Little Sweetie first presented the will in court I remember she took an envelope One or? A big envelope inside there were four small envelopes At that time it was unknown what was inside just produced a big envelope like that But she never let the court open this envelope She produced an envelope but not agreeing to open it Of course we know that at one point Little Sweetie suddenly told everyone it could be opened After opening it there were four envelopes inside Containing what she said was the 1990 will of Wang Teh-huei giving all his assets to her By this time the validity of the 1968 will or the 1990 will was the major point of contention And here actually the court can prove that Wang Teh-huei was very loving to his family It also proves that Little Sweetie had some problems Around the time when Little Sweetie and Wang Teh-huei got married these early events were also disclosed It’s said that at that time old Mr. Wang and his wife went to Taiwan whether for business or for travel we don’t know And Wang Teh-huei’s eldest sister his sister Wang Teh-han Wang Teh-han wrote an urgent message to her mother saying “Something’s wrong sister-in-law is bullying us” Meaning she was being mean to her younger siblings being very bad to them Perhaps not letting them eat and also bullying them she bought a lot of good food but not sharing Not letting the children eat the complaint got to the point that the parents had to rush back after the old parents left Nina was supposed to be in charge Do you remember? Yes because Wang Din Sin was traveling Together with his wife The lady in charge was none other than Nina Kung As a result this letter made Wang Din Sin’s wife immediately fly back to Hong Kong from Taiwan Yes their relationship was already not very good at that time But Wang Teh-huei loved his younger siblings very much and he also loved his parents very much You can see Most people say Wang’s stingy but when he went traveling with his father he bought a business class seat for his father And he gave them a lot of money for gifts 10000 US dollars 100000 US dollars to give them That is to say he’s not stingy to his family And you can see later on Nina Kung she has some siblings They immigrate to Hong Kong from mainland China in order to produce proof for financial support They also gifted with Chinachem shares to Nina Kung Yu-sum’s brothers That is to say he was not bad to his family or to others Yes in fact according to Ip Lee-kwong’s evidence Little Sweetie’s role in the early development of Chinachem in the 60s and 70s was actually very small At most she was just a tpyist typing things like letters of credit She once went to a school this was in 1958 Little Sweetie went to Marinoa School a typing school to learn typing This typing certificate later you’ll see that Chan Chun-chung took it and used it But she didn’t have much role in the family business Why is that? It was hard for Nina to imagine Wang Din Sin went to the office every day Even when he was in his nineties he still went back to read newspapers He would still appear in the office Plus Wang Teh-huei was a male chauvinist All the decisions were Wang Teh-huei’s decisions Little Sweetie had no say Basically she was dispensable in the company with no real work This was also debated in court Because she wanted to say she was critical to the company so Wang Teh-huei would definitely give the company to her But this was all denied because Ip Lee-kwong said Ip Lee-kwong said that once actually Kung Yu-sum said it first she wanted to prove she made great contributions to the business She said that she designed the sales brochure for a housing estate Because she had studied design in the United States And she handled this Ip Lee-kwong found the records and could tell which printing company it was And he revealed all the details of the entire housing project But Nina Kung couldn’t recall or couldn’t say it Of course regarding this evidence all the designs by Ip Lee-kwong she claimed were her own Kung Yu-sum didn’t testify in court But she did submit some evidence But she basically couldn’t explain the key points It was basically impossible for her to be the one who designed it This evidence proved that Nina was only became involved In the business after Wang Teh-huei disappeared in 1990 After he was kidnapped Only then did she start managing And at that time of course there was Nina Tower There’s Repulse Bay Road I don’t know if it’s number 159 There were many new housing estates coming out At that time of course she had her contributions But when Wang Teh-huei was alive she wasn’t as important then Judge Yam listened to all of this He has his own judgement Of course in the end he didn’t believe Kung Yu-sum Okay but how was Wang Teh-huei towards Kung Yu-sum? He was also very good to Kung Yu-sum Nina actually controlled a lot of money Look at the two kidnappings She could immediately get 10 million US dollars The first time She could immediately get over 260 million Kung Yu-sum already had a lot of money in hand It was not that Wang Teh-huei was giving everything to his father and his family and not taking care of Kung Yu-sum She had a lot of money She could also use a lot of assets She also holds shares in Chinachem through a BVI company she had shares Yes But he would definitely not give her everything The reason is that they had no children Yes These are all traditional patriarchal families In other words they wouldn’t give everything to you And they always believed they didn’t know if you’d remarry Yes Later she was seen with Chan Chun-chung Yes The court believed that she had a certain close relationship with Chan Chun-chung Yes So they had reasons not to trust her What if she took all the money and remarried? The entire kingdom of assets after the new marriage would go to another man Right? Yes So these are things we outsiders don’t know We’ve always thought they were very loving Because Little Sweetie has been searching for Wang Teh-huei her whole life Really? So many things turn out to have a story behind them The sealed envelope is actually Do you remember it’s the lawsuit regarding whether Wang Teh-huei was dead? Actually Nina had already filed something in court It was already filed in January 1998 That is in January 1998 she produced a large envelope a manila envelope to the court and said it’s not allowed to be opened Just to keep it on file but the envelope must not be opened She always opposed it being opened Until September 6 1999 she withdrew her objection and agreed that the court could open this envelope this relates to the first case meaning the case of whether Wang Teh-huei was dead or not The will was first disclosed in this case After opening the envelope what happened? It was discovered that inside the large envelope were four smaller envelopes There are four separate documents The court referred to them as documents A B C and D We will show you these four documents Just follow along as we look at this picture We will describe what each of the images A B C and D depicts Let’s start with A Alright what does the sentence on A say? It says “On March 12 1990” I Wang Teh-huei at 15 Bluff Path The Peak hereby declare this will After my death all my property shall be bequeathed to my wife Kung Yu-sum It has Wang Teh-huei’s signature There are also signatures from two witnesses One is Tse Ping-yim Tse Ping-yim is a very important witness The other is someone whose name is unknown It is written as KS Lee Now on this piece of paper who exactly wrote it? This handwriting is not Wang Teh-huei’s handwriting Who exactly wrote it? Wang The-han Wang Teh-huei’s sister said these signatures look like Little Sweetie’s handwriting She pointed this out in court Alright then What about Document B? Document B is written like this: The content states: After my death Wang Teh-huei all my property should be left to my wife Kung Yu-sum for management No one is allowed to oppose I love my wife She is the most beloved person in my world After my death all my property and real estate and my body should belong to my dear wife Although my father and mother disappointed me I still insist My wife must take care of them Also my sick sister who can’t take care of herself The wording seems quite harsh There’s also Tse Ping-yim’s signature This one doesn’t have Wang Teh-huei’s signature Only Tse Ping-yim’s signature? Is that so? It has Wang Teh-huei’s signature And Tse Ping-yim’s signature But what about the third unrecognizable name KS? Is it there? No KS Lee’s signature Only Tse Ping-yim’s and Wang Teh-huei’s signatures But you see this paper is quite interesting If you look at the paper there are some imprints It looks like it says “one love one life” That is “one life loving only one person” one life one love You see “one life one love” on top These words seem to be printed on it Did you see it? Yes yes It was noticed even in court Some of the words are written over the line Yes Alright let’s talk about Document C First tell me what signatures are on it There’s Tse Ping-yim’s signature again and Wang Teh-huei’s signature It’s written like this: It states after I pass away all my property should be left to my wife No one else should oppose this My wife should manage all the property However she must not hand over any money benefits or property to anyone in my Wang family All of them are disappointing But my wife also shouldn’t distribute the property to anyone in your Kung family Because everyone in your Kung family is irritating And very mean Yes you see only the first one— That is Document A It has the title “Will” The back of Document B does not have the title “Will” The third document also does not have the “Will” title Finally let’s talk about Document D And D again has signatures from Tse Ping-yim and Wang Teh-huei This one is quite simple It just says “one life one love” The court after a handwriting expert’s verification confirmed that B and C were written by the same person But who exactly wrote them? No one has answered that to this day No one has come forward claiming to have written B and C You see the signature of Tse Ping-yim Well actually the biggest issue here is— Look at these papers especially in B and C the most crucial point is— that Wang Teh-huei greatly disliked his own family They also all detest the Kung family But after you’ve seen all the evidence Wang Teh-huei didn’t hate his family Yeah it was said that he didn’t go to university Because his father’s family fortune had declined In the end we learned that the father was protecting his son The relationship between the son and the father was very good So the people who fabricated these things or those who say things like that is it reasonable? Anyway Mr. Justice Yam just doesn’t believe it But of course all the information we see now was all overturned when it went to the final appeal We talk about Tse Ping-yim here These four pieces of paper eventually became the 1990 will the most important is the one with the signatures of the two witnesses The ones in the back that say who he likes who he dislikes one life one love these are not sufficient to be used to distribute his estate We’re looking at this will with Tse Ping-yim and KS Lee Okay Tse Ping-yim was a worker in their house He used to be a cleaner That is he was a cleaner in the office Yes And Little Sweetie promoted him Turned him into her chef Yes But this person’s cooking was terrible Wang Teh-huei said his cooking was terrible He complained to Little Sweetie But this person was very grateful to Little Sweetie Because he went from being a cleaner to being promoted to sort of a butler in the house A little butler He worked at home he cooked He also helped them with mail delivery at the office He had to do several jobs So this Tse Ping-yim After this will case you know when it was almost time for the trial Mr. Justice Yam said that this will was forged do you remember? Yes The father applied to court to make a police complaint Do you remember? Yes he reported to the police In other words the father-in-law was permitted to report to the police That is at this stage you could make the report Why did need to ask the court for permission to report the case Why need permission? Because this is actually a civil court Within all these documents you need to disclose to the police Actually you need to obtain the permission of the civil court judge Isn’t that right? So you need court approval Especially since you’re now going to use the other party’s documents Using the other party’s documents Is there anything else to say about Tse Ping-yim Tse Ping-yim many witnesses have come forward and said that Tse Ping-yim was very talkative He liked to gossip about others Wang Teh-han also testified that when he was hiking around the Peak he kept talking about Wang Teh-huei or gossiping about Little Sweetie He also said he liked to flatter Something to note is that Tse Ping-yim’s wife actually holds all of the Chinachem’s cleaning outsourcing business She should be making a lot of money from this Okay this Tse Ping-yim’s personality because he’s so talkative and all the information shows that Wang Teh-huei himself is a very cautious person And he really dislikes others knowing his affairs He only lets very few people know of his plans For example he opened a safe He trusted Ip Lee Kwong so only Ip Lee Kwong knew He wouldn’t reveal his secrets to others He doesn’t want anyone to know what he’s thinking So why would he choose this talkative Tse Ping-yim to be his witness to be a witness to his will? This is what the Mr. Justice Yam didn’t believe back then But of course when it went to the final hearing it was overturned Okay something happened to this Tse Ping-yim Didn’t we say a police complaint was made Mr. Justice Yam said the will was fake Yes After reporting to the police Tse Ping-yim was the first to disappear Yes he immediately left Hong Kong and went to Guangzhou And then went to Thailand He’s been in Thailand ever since Later he got seriously ill got cancer He got very sick Sick for only a few months Actually he got seriously ill after he left Hong Kong He eventually went back to Shenzhen or Guangzhou for treatment It couldn’t be cured In the end there was no way When he was about to fall into a coma he was sent back to Hong Kong Yeah He passed away two days after returning to Hong Kong Yeah so this person completely disappeared There’s another person who also left Hong Kong after the police report That’s Chan Chun-Chuen Chan Chun Chuen also went abroad right after the report He also stayed abroad That is he waited until Little Sweetie’s case was overturned and there were no problems before he came back So there were two people who left Hong Kong during this period after the reporting Who actually wrote the wills B and C That is even now we don’t know That is who wrote documents B and C Then Little Sweetie’s sister said that the handwriting on document A she recognized it as Little Sweetie’s handwriting But of course Nina wouldn’t do handwriting analysis It can’t be proven Because Wang Teh-han said Actually they used to practice calligraphy together when they were little everyone has seen each other’s calligraphy and handwriting At that time she also said she had evidence that Little Sweetie often copied Wang Teh-huei’s signature when they were doing calligraphy Yeah yeah Already paved the way That is what she told the court Little Sweetie’s will is very suspicious That this person called KS Lee at that time they said they couldn’t find him It seems like he was an employee of the company or something please talk about KS Lee As for this KS Lee he was a senior executive in the company Before this lawsuit started he had already passed away Okay with these wills here now we see this 1968 will of the father-in-law it was made properly in a law firm No one disputes that this will is fake It’s completely real Cheung Quentin the lawyer who certified this will at the time Zimmern his boss Cheung Quentin’s boss Cheung Quentin was still alive then Yeah He testified from overseas Or what? I don’t remember He testified from overseas in Canada Is that correct? Anyway he confirmed that this will was usually made in a law firm It was certified by two lawyers It’s very difficult to challenge it However this is really a double-edged sword So many handwriting experts were consulted Representing Little Sweetie’s side there were three handwriting experts from Mainland China Yes Those representing the father in law were all internationally renowned experts In the end I think they all had a certain point of view Maybe they overdid it Like the signature of Tse Ping-yim The father in law’s side claimed that all signatures were forged including Wang Teh-huei’s signature Tse Ping-yim’s signature was also forged As to KS Lee’s signature… Because the signature was too simple So it’s difficult to determine whether it’s real or fake But regardless there’s no need to talk about this one They went to authenticate Tse Ping-yim’s signature In the end the authentication of Tse Ping-yim’s signature those international experts said it was fake But Tse Ping-yim himself went to help Little Sweetie with the details Swore and declared that he watched Wang Teh-huei sign it But honestly speaking going through so much trouble to prove whether Tse Ping-yim’s signature is his I think it’s unnecessary Don’t you think? every signature on the documents they wanted to say that it was fake In a lawsuit you do so much forensic authentication you do so mucht you have to spend a lot of money You have to waste a lot of time on the trial And Tse Ping-yim’s signature he himself came out and said it was by him You insist that it’s not his It’s because of these strange things Later if you hear about Chan Chun-chung’s case it’s the same Because that case of Chan Chun-chung really has a lot of causal relationships The will he produced claiming Little Sweetie left all her money to him was signed with two lawyers’ witness Yes And one of the lawyers came out and said that he was the one who signed that will Yes But others are trying to prove that signature was forged This entire matter is reversed There are really many causal relationships involved Alright back to Tse Ping-yim In the end those foreign handwriting experts said that Tse Ping-yim’s signatures were all fake and Wang Teh-huei’s signatures were all fake But Little Sweetie’s three expert witnesses all said completely the opposite These three Chinese experts of course Little Sweetie’s experts argued that these signatures are genuine You can see in the judgment there’s a large section spanning hundreds of pages all about handwriting expert testimony They studied where pressure was applied on the signatures which parts are offset and whether it matches the signer’s habits They compared these with samples of signatures from different periods and produced detailed reports They also conducted ink analysis reports Do you remember? Yes the ink analysis report It states that the ink’s drying and fixation levels This indicates that Little Sweetie signed in 1990 but the court documents were prepared around 1998 or 1999 That’s eight years later She claimed this was signed in 1990 It’s been years But some ink experts came out and suggested this was very recent This was freshly done Yes yes That is definitely not that many years ago They have a method to examine the ink and the level of its fixation on the paper They can then determine when it was written This was of course very unfavorable to Little Sweetie But this went to the Court of Final Appeal and was overturned at once These reports aren’t reliable They’re not that accurate So it was brushed aside Summarizing the suspicious points what the judge is saying is first of all he felt that Wang Teh-huei had no reason to suddenly change his will All goes to the wife Because in his lifetime he cared deeply for his father He would never leave his father with nothing Right? There’s also another suspicious point why would such a successful businessman who had previously created two well-drafted wills through law firms in a very formal manner suddenly create a handwritten will without any reason Furthermore the content of the will is highly irrational And also these papers it was pointed out that two of the sheets were very thin Right? So the quality of the paper is also questionable Also in the 1990 will the judge found that there was no revocation clause You know the very first sentence in a will is “I revoke all prior wills” I revoke all prior wills This one also lacks a revocation clause Why is the revocation clause so important? Because in 1960 Wang Teh-huei made his first will When he made his second will in 1968 the first line of that will was “Revoke will made in 1960” So Wang Teh-huei could not possibly not know Of course as seen from the content of the wills just discussed He kept criticizing his own family and the Kung family Looking at his life the judge believed that his criticisms were entirely unreasonable They do not align with his consistent behavior and feelings Of course he also mentioned that Kung Yu-sum was actually very reluctant to produce the 1990 will He said she was unwilling and only did so when there was no other choice It was only at the very end when she was cornered that she produced it Her behavior was suspicious He also criticized Tse Ping-yim who had already passed away A witness who wrote an affidavit But he didn’t appear in court because he died He said his affidavit stated that he witnessed the will but he fails to provide any supporting details Which means it’s quite simple Okay of course the case at this point when the Mr. Justice Yam in the initial trial after seeing all the witnesses that ought to be seen and making a verdict believed that the 1990 will was fake Meaning the “one life one love” documents from 1990 Meaning the “one life one love” documents from 1990 were completely unreliable And also authorized a police report be made Of course he also believed that the 1968 will that left all the money to the Wang family was valid After that Little Sweetie appealed A lot of side issues happened in between Because the police had already arrested Nina At that time the bail was 50 million Remember? Yes So she told the court that she wanted to stay the civil lawsuit But the court did not approve it It continued Until it went to the Court of Appeal The Court of Appeal agreed with the judge’s ruling Three judges Two said they supported the judge’s verdict One did not support it They also repeated and explained everything Each and every item was reviewed It was also a very thick judgment Yes Okay finally it went to the Court of Final Appeal The final appeal for this case began in 2004 The trial took place in 2005 The verdict and judgment were also in 2005 This time there was a major reversal The judge overturned the decisions from the original trial and the Court of Appeal Which resulted in Kung Yu-sum winning How many judges were there at the final court? There were five judges Okay actually both Mr. Justice Yam and the previous judges were criticized That is to say they ruled incorrectly We will discuss them one by one Firstly we are talking about Previously Mr. Justice Yam said that he thought Tse Ping-yim was so talkative He couldn’t keep secrets Given Wang Teh-huei’s cautious personality he wouldn’t have made this person his witness for the will However the judges of the final court said otherwise How could that be? Because he was their house servant entering and leaving freely working as a household worker Serving him as a loyal servant Since Wang could keep him close he must have trusted him How could he not trust him? So settled this point It was also mentioned You see Kung Yu-sum’s side’s experts were experts from mainland China But the other side the father-in-law’s side had international authorities The Court of Final Appeal placed more emphasis and trust on the Chinese experts What was the background of these Chinese experts? He helped the Public Security Bureau in mainland China to investigate cases and served as an expert The Court of Final Appeal praised them in its judgment That they are very experienced They had worked on many major cases So they were reliable Yeah if Chan Chun-chung had found these experts later Later Chan Chun-chung found international experts again It was like that again If he had found these experts It might really have been much better But the situation could also have been different But that wasn’t the case He retained international experts So these Chinese experts— In the eyes of the Court of Final Appeal are considered more trustworthy and more authoritative At this point there were also criticisms of Mr. Justice Yam Someone said “He’s bluffing as an expert isn’t he?” Why do they say that about him? In a certain part of the judgment The judge magnified the signatures He has some unique insights The mainland expert that is Kung Yu-sum’s side had omitted some perspectives Justice Yam commented “I can see it but you can’t” And kept criticizing this expert The Court of Final Appeal then said whether or not they could see these things— it could be related to some optical phenomena They could explain it slowly You don’t need to criticize the expert like that Just state plainly in the headline “Judges should not pretend to be experts” In other words judges shouldn’t act as experts This was a critique of him overall They said that Mr. Justice Yam shouldn’t have acted as an expert As to Little Sweetie refused to testify in court And the judge drew a negative opinion of her They argued that judges were completely unable to control the interrogation process which led to rumors flying everywhere Going back before World War II the extramarital affairs or some kind of marriage relationships all came to light Nina definitely wouldn’t want to be questioned about it how sharp and oppressive the questioning was It was intense In summary everything we previously understood was flipped upside down The Court of Final Appeal ruled that the 1990 will was the genuine one meaning it was valid reasonable and lawful So the father-in-law lost They had to pay the legal costs By 2004 when the case was still unresolved Little Sweetie experienced some health issues She was diagnosed with uterine cancer and it was found in an advanced stage Her chance of survival was estimated at only 10% Within five years and less than a year in to that her cancer had spread all over her body She then received treatment in the US and also in Singapore Eventually she couldn’t even fly to Singapore and was treated in Hong Kong Near the end it seems she was at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital right Yes in 2007 It was in April right? Yes April She passed away on April 3 2007 Also in April April is bad luck for her It’s April 3 2007 The day Kung Yu-sum died Actually every April for Kung Yu-sum seems not good She seems to be having a bad time Yes Wang Teh-huei was also kidnapped on April 10 and another on April 12 She died on April 3 Between these dates a figure suddenly emerges Everyone knows This is Chan Chun-chung A few days after Little Sweetie’s death you start to see Media starts flooding with news There’s someone no one knew before who comes out very boldly Claiming he is the sole beneficiary of Little Sweetie’s will Together with his lawyer who appears publicly with him Everyone in Hong Kong was shocked Why did this person come out and say these things? Of course this opened up the later dispute between Chan Chun-chung and the Chinachem Charitable Foundation A battle over the estate We need to rewind and talk about Chan Chun-chung Mentor has been talking until now I see that your coffee is almost finished It’s time to take a break The main reason is my voice is starting to get hoarse So I’ll get you some honey to drink After that we’ll continue talking about Chan Chun-chung We might need another episode to cover it all Because it’s really very long It’s okay we’ll keep a complete record We will talk more about Chan Chun-chung later Alright if everyone likes this channel remember to leave comments like and share And don’t forget to follow or subscribe Stay tuned for the next episode about Chan Chun-chung

Thank you for sharing this amazing saga.
The CFA heavily criticised David Yam J for massive "copying & pasting" in his trial judgment. Yam lifted many passages directly from the plaintiff's written submissions, even the many typos. This in a way proves that he did not exercise sufficient independent judgment.
Bob Ribeiro PJ's key judgment in the CFA probably deserves more detailed coverage in your presentation.
Witness Tse Ping-yim's signed statutory declaration was afforded due weight by the CFA. Nothing countered his evidence regarding the due execution and attestation of the 1990 will. This evidence is key, according to the CFA.
Whereas Yam J's poor trial management (in allowing the trial to considerably overrun by many months) did not find approval in the top court.
So, who gained from all this? The lawyers, of course!
Your old firm JSM acted for Nina.
By the way, how could the poor father-in-law (Mr Wang senior, who lived on Nina's monthly subsidy) have managed to hire so many expensive counsel and even London silk to conduct the litigation for so long? Who funded him do you know? 😂 The press at the time had some speculation.
Thanks again. ❤
