The Girl Forced to Sell Herself to Save Her Father | Lý Tiểu Ngọcc

hello everyone Today I want to share with you an
incredibly touching story filled with tears and   compassion The story of a young girl named Tun
Gawk who had to sacrifice her youth and pride   just to save her ailing father Tun was born
and raised in a poor family in a small village   perched precariously in a remote mountainous area
Her family had nothing but a thatched house with   mud walls a few chickens some vegetable beds
behind the house and the boundless love of her   parents for their daughter That poor but peaceful
life was suddenly shattered when her father fell   ill At first it was just a mild cough but soon
it turned into persistent unending pain When   they finally reached the nearest clinic the doctor
diagnosed him with a serious illness that required   immediate treatment at a higher level hospital
With no other options Tu and Gawk scrambled to   borrow money from neighbors acquaintances and
even lone sharks She didn’t hesitate As long   as she could save her father she was willing to do
anything But the amount she borrowed was too large   and the interest kept growing After a few months
she could no longer keep up with the repayments   The pressure of the debt the relentless demands
from creditors and her father’s desparing eyes   pushed Tuok into a corner In her darkest moment
one of the creditors made her an offer If you   can’t pay me back come work for me I’ll clear your
debt But work here wasn’t simply house chores or   serving tables like she had imagined Would two be
able to overcome this desperate situation let’s   follow her story together When the morning sun
had yet to touch the thatched roof nestled on the   mountain side Tungok was already awake She didn’t
need an alarm Her body had grown used to the   rhythm of someone who lives for others She stepped
out behind the house where a small garden awaited   her filled with clusters of ripe not fruit hanging
heavily from the branches Before harvesting Tu   Ning Gotch carefully prepared a bamboo basket the
same old basket that had accompanied her through   many market seasons She took some fresh banana
leaves rinsed them in the stream then gently lined   the inside of the basket with them Every movement
was soft precise and deliberate Beneath the lush   green knot leaves she began her familiar task
harvesting The ripe not fruits plump and full peek   through the foliage glistening under the early sun
Her small calloused hands moved swiftly plucking   the fruits one by one Though her hands were thin
and rough from labor they were remarkably agile   She worked without paws moving from tree to tree
until the bamboo basket was brimming with knot   When she finished she lifted the basket onto
her back tying it securely with an old cloth   strap and began her descent to the market The path
from her home to the town market was anything but   easy It was a narrow dirt trail rugged and uneven
slippery during the rainy season with steep slopes   that demanded every ounce of her strength to climb
But Nak never complained She understood clearly if   she didn’t go to the market if she didn’t sell the
knot there would be no money for rice no medicine   for her father She had lived with that thought
for a long time It had become a part of her   ingrained in every step she took every action
she made I must not fall Gawk whispered to   herself After a long journey along the rocky
winding mountain path Engok finally reached the   village market at the foot of the mountain She
walked slowly into the market which was already   buzzing with the sounds of people coming and going
Today she was determined to sell all her knot the   fruits of a morning’s hard work Waking up before
dawn while the sky was still shrouded in mist   She picked a small corner at the entrance of the
market her usual spot whenever she came to sell   Gently she set down her bamboo basket and took out
a large banana leaf she had prepared in advance   The leaf was spread out carefully and kept clean
Tune Gawk began dividing the knot into small   portions The ripe red glistening naut still dewy
from the morning mist were skillfully placed into   small plastic bags She estimated by eye to make
sure the bags were roughly equal in weight Then   she tied the tops of each bag carefully Each bag
was sold for 5,000 Vietnamese dong Not a large sum   but if she sold them all it would be enough to buy
medicine for her father rice for her mother and   have a little leftover just in case After sitting
for a while as the sun climbed higher and the   crowd grew her first customer of the day arrived
It was a middle-aged woman around 50 years old   She stopped leaned down to look at the neatly
arranged knot bags on the banana leaf then looked   up and asked in a gentle voice “How much for a
bag dear?” Gawk smiled and softly replied “5,000   per bag ma’am.” The woman nodded took two bags
and paid Soon after more and more customers came   Some bought a single bag others three or four to
take home for their families By late morning as   the sun stood high overhead and the market began
to quiet down Gok’s basket was completely empty   Today had been a lucky day Perhaps thanks to
the juicy sweet knot or perhaps because of the   girl’s humble appearance her gentle smile and
those eyes that always shimmered with sincerity   Looking up at the sky Tune Gotch saw dark clouds
gathering over the mountain peak Rain was coming   She quickly folded up the banana leaf neatly
packed away the strings then hoisted the now   empty basket onto her back On the way home from
the market with the basket on her back now light   from having sold all the knot Enok stopped by an
old woman’s watermelon stall That elderly lady   was one of the few people who had once reached
out to help her during her most desperate times   Gawk walked up bowed politely and gently
asked “Have you sold many today Granny?”   The old woman shook her head and sighed “Very slow
dear I’ve only sold two since morning.” And Gawk   hesitated then slowly confided “My father’s
condition has gotten worse lately Would you   be able to lend me a little money please?” Upon
hearing this the old woman’s face fell These past   few days I haven’t sold much either I haven’t even
recovered my capital yet I’m sorry dear I can’t   help you right now Gawk stood silent for a moment
then forced a faint awkward smile She bowed her   head in gratitude and quietly continued on her way
Leaving the watermelon stall Gawk walked on toward   home A little while later she turned into a narrow
alley that led to a small appliance repair shop   She stepped inside and asked if she could borrow
some money but the owner also said that business   had been unstable lately and he didn’t have any
to lend her Gotch bowed her head thanked him and   quickly stepped out of the shop then quietly made
her way back home When she got home Gotch quickly   took off her worn out sandals and stepped into the
small cramped house She placed the empty basket in   a corner and walked over to her father’s bed His
face was pale and his tired eyes looked up at his   daughter And sat down beside him took his thin
wrinkled hand and pressed it gently to her cheek   “Are you still feeling very weak Dad?” she asked
He gave a slight nod coughed softly and replied   “I’m still not well I’ve been coughing all day
It’s exhausting dear Ingotch quickly tried to   reassure him I already told mom tomorrow I’ll take
you to the hospital We can’t let you stay like   this any longer Her father frowned his eyes filled
with worry To the hospital but how dear where will   we get the money for treatment and Gotch had no
answer She could only hold his hand tighter Her   father began coughing violently again Each cough
seemed to tear through his frail chest And Gotch   jumped up and ran into the back room grabbing the
last bottle of cough medicine She gently helped   him sit up and fed him the syrup one small sip
at a time Only when his breathing calmed and he   drifted into an exhausted sleep did she allow
herself to breathe a sigh of relief Her mother   stepped in from outside her face heavy with worry
She sat down beside her daughter eyes welling up   as she looked at her husband “Of course I want to
take your father to the hospital,” she said softly   But how can we afford the treatment maybe maybe
we should sell the last of our chickens And Gawk   shook her head Her voice choked with emotion
Even if we sell all the chickens it won’t be   enough Mom Tomorrow I’ll go see Brother Ben and
try to borrow more At the mention of Brother   Ben her mother flinched and gently squeezed
in Gawk’s arm We already borrowed 50 million   from him Now with interest it’s over 100 million
How can we ever repay that ingotch lowered her   head I’ll still try to see him tomorrow
Don’t worry Mom Her mother said nothing   more She just quietly wrapped her arms around her
daughter tears streaming down her wrinkled cheeks   The next morning as the early mist still blanketed
the winding path Nach made her way alone down to   the town She stopped in front of an old rusty
iron gate took a deep breath and gently knocked   on the door A moment later Mr Bin a middle-aged
man with sharp eyes opened it Seeing her he   looked slightly surprised but quickly masked it
with his usual polite smile and invited her in Gawk sat down at the edge of a chair her hands
tightly clasped She poured out everything on her   mind Mr Bin leaned back in his chair listening
in silence Then he shook his head and spoke in   a cold tone “I’m not lending money anymore”
in a gawk “but you can stay here and work for   me Clean the guest house I’ll deduct it from
your debt gradually Gawk froze She knew all   too well that the guest house he was referring
to wasn’t just a place for travelers to stay   She had heard the rumors stories about young
women forced to sell themselves pushed into   doing things they never wanted and how it
all began with the words stay and work as   a cleaner But for the sake of her father
did she have any other choice what will   Nak have to face if she accepts to stay here
let’s find out in the next part of her story [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
