Hi~ I’m Albert. Where are we going to take the bus in this episode? We are at the Tamsui-JinShan Highway section of Provincial Highway 2 again. We are going to take another route, Route 860, which passes through the Tamsui-Jinshan Highway to go deep into Sanzhi . In the hot summer, we have come to the Balian River Ecological Trail, strolling along the cool stream. Entering the secret place of lotus viewing limited to summer , the most important thing you can’t miss is the sea view of the north coast! With such wonderful content, please be sure to watch this video. This is a half-day tour of Sanzhi that you can enjoy leisurely without driving. Don’t forget to like and subscribe before the video starts ! OK~ Friends! We are now at the bus stop next to the MRT Tamsui Station. Previously, we took everyone to take the 862 and 863 on Provincial Highway 2. In this episode, we will also take the 860 on Provincial Highway 2 from the MRT Tamsui Station to Sanzhi. By the way, we will take everyone to the attractions near Sanzhi. Let’s go and take a look~ Then without further ado, let’s go to take the bus, let’s go! There are 6 platform blocks in the bus waiting area of the MRT Tamsui Station. Please remember to take the 860 at Platform 4 and follow the queue line on the ground to take the bus in order! The 860 starts from the MRT Tamsui Station and passes through the Zhengde National Light Rail Tamjin-Beixin Station , Tamsui Administrative Center , Taiwan Line 2 Tamsui-Jinshan Highway , St. John’s University of Science and Technology, Repulse Bay , and finally arrives at the terminal in Sanzhi . The two-section ticket for the entire journey is operated by the Tamsui Bus Company. Sanzhi is close to the North Coast and the Datun Volcano Group. Sanzhi is surrounded by mountains and rivers . There are also many well-known specialty cafes and beaches along the way. In addition, the hometown of the late former President Mr. Lee Teng-hui is also in Sanzhi. Under these conditions, the government has also tried its best to promote the tourism industry in Sanzhi. In the early days, Sanzhi had inconvenient transportation and could only rely on the Highway Bureau. Tamsui-Keelung (now 862) Tamsui-Jinshan (now 863) route. With the increase of population and the development of tourism , the establishment of Tamsui Bus Company first connected 862 and 863, and later opened a highway bus route from Tamsui to Sanzhi via Beixin Road (now 876). In the 1980s, the passenger bus route from Tamsui to Sanzhi via Provincial Highway 2 was opened, and the frequency of buses was relatively high, consolidating the commuter status of Sanzhi. Tamsui New Town is a new town located at the northern end of Tamsui District, New Taipei City. The overall planning began in the 1990s. 1,756 hectares of land were planned for agricultural areas such as Shalun, Gangziping, Gongsitian Kanding , Pidao, and Linzijie. The land is used as the scope of the Tamsui New Town to build an urban planning area that can accommodate 300,000 people and integrate coastal, ecological and residential development. The first phase of construction, about 446 hectares, has been completed . The Tamsui Light Rail Green Mountain Line was opened to traffic in 2018. It provides Tamsui New Town Station, Binhai Yishan Station, Binhai Shalun Station, etc. It connects to the Red Line Mangrove Station of the MRT to improve external transportation. In the future, there will be plans such as the Tamsui Bridge and the Tamsui-Beihai Expressway to accelerate commuting efficiency. Provincial Highway No. 2 is one of the coastal highway systems. The starting point is the Guandu Bridge in Zhuwei, Tamsui District, New Taipei City , which is also the starting point of Provincial Highway No. 15 and the end point is Su’ao Township, Yilan . The Suhua Highway connects to the starting point of the Provincial Highway 9. The total length is about 167.674 kilometers . The Danshui -Jinshan section is the Danjin Highway and the Jinshan-Keelung section is the Jijin Highway. Both have a long history and are very important connecting roads between Keelung and the North Coast area. They are also the lifeblood of the North Coast tourism development. The Keelung- Suao section is the Northern Coast Highway and one of the only two highways between Taipei and Yilan before the full opening of the Xueshan Tunnel of National Highway 5. Therefore, the transportation status of Provincial Highway 2 is very important. But did you know that the highway passenger lines of Danshui Bus had a unique number before the number change? This bus line between Danshui and Sanzhi was formerly called Route 18 Bus. I believe many old friends in Danshui and Sanzhi still remember the memories of Route 18, right? However, since June 2009, with the policy of changing the number of highway passenger transport to 4 codes, it was first changed to 1260, and then changed to 860 in 2012. It has accompanied the people of Sanzhi for many years and still serves the terminal station Sanzhi. We are almost there and we are going to get off the bus. By the way, we will take you to see the important landmarks in Sanzhi city. OK! Dear friends, we have successfully arrived at the terminal station Sanzhi. I heard that there is a secret place for viewing lotus in Sanzhi and it can be reached by bus . So now we will take you to this secret place for viewing lotus. Go! To reach the secret place for viewing lotus, we must take the bus along the Sanzhi route again. Please remember to get off at the “Fucheng Bridge Head” station. It is about two stops away from the Sanzhi bus terminal and takes about 3 minutes by car. Before going to the secret place for viewing lotus, let’s take a walk on the Balianxi leisure trail! The Balian River Leisure Trail is located beside the Balian River. It is about 1.79 kilometers long. The Balian River runs through the entire Sanzhi District and is the main river in Sanzhi. Legend has it that eight families came here to reclaim land and built houses beside the valley , so it was named “Baxianli”. At the same time , many canals were created to meet people’s daily lives, so that the people of Baxianli can use them for washing clothes or irrigation, power generation, rice milling, and tea making . The water of the Balian River is clear, and the stones are stacked to form waterfalls. Along the way, you can see many wild rice shoots fields and waterwheel parks. After the renovation and planning, the Balian River Leisure Trail has become a well-known tourist attraction in New Taipei City and a good place for local residents to take a walk. Sanzhi was formerly known as the Hometown of Waterwheels because Sanzhi’s agricultural land is mainly located in hilly areas. Early farmers used waterwheels for irrigation because of this innate terrain, which laid the foundation for the importance of waterwheels in Sanzhi’s agriculture. Passing by Putou Bridge, this is the Sakura Waterwheel Park . Although there are no traces of waterwheels , the waterwheel-shaped painted slides and a number of inclusive play equipment are suitable for parents and children to have fun together, and also integrate local characteristics . Are there other waterwheel attractions in this area? Of course there are! There are several waterwheel attractions on Balian Creek. Due to time constraints, I couldn’t walk there, so I rented a YouBike here and continued on to the Fude Waterwheel Park. You can see it after walking across Hongqiao. This Hongqiao has nothing to do with the Hongqiao in Shanghai. The Fude Waterwheel Park is the largest waterwheel park in the Sanzhi Waterwheel Cultural Landscape. It covers an area of nearly 0.6 hectares. But… what I saw was a stationary waterwheel. It’s a pity , but it doesn’t matter. With a YouBike , there is another waterwheel park not far away along the Balian Creek trail . I continued riding the YouBike here. There is a fork in the road. You need to turn left to the Celebrity Cultural Relics Museum (direction). There is no way to the right! When you get out, you will see Zhongshan Road Section 3. On the right is the Sanzhi Visitor Center. After passing the Sanzhi Visitor Center, ride for about 10 minutes and follow Dexian Road to see the Baxianli Community Activity Center. It makes me feel the most down-to-earth and simple side of Baxianli. I finally arrived at the next waterwheel attraction. The Balianxi Waterwheel Park is the waterwheel park at the upper reaches of the Balianxi River , also known as the “Baxian Village Waterwheel”. The park has a large and two small waterwheels, as well as pavilions, fish ponds, trails, etc. It is very suitable for parents and children to come here for a walk. The water quality of the upper Balianxi River is clear, and the rotating waterwheel is a good choice to stay here for a while! Since the nearby YouBike only has a station at the Sakura Waterwheel Park, if you are near the entrance of the Balianxi leisure trail, A YouBike station can be added. I believe it will be more convenient to travel along the Balianxi Trail . After returning the bike, I walked to the secret spot for viewing lotus. I returned to the Balianxi leisure trail and crossed the Songcuo Bridge. I walked forward for about 10 minutes. There was a signboard with “Lotus Rhyme and Lotus” on the left. The secret spot for viewing lotus was not far away. This is the Shanzhubori Lotus Pond, which is close to Mackay Medical College and Balianxi. There are not too many people on weekdays. The lotus variety is peony lotus . June to July every year is the best time to view lotus. Peony lotus is a unique lotus variety. It is named because of its overlapping petals that resemble peony. It is native to Thailand and is also called Bodhisattva lotus. It is a sacred flower used for worshiping Buddha locally. Shanzhubori Lotus Pond is a private lotus field cultivated by the landlord with great effort. It is open to the public for free. It is a great spot for taking pictures, viewing flowers and relaxing. When you come here, you might as well think of the game you played when you were a child: Lotus. When does the lotus bloom? If you want to go directly to Shanzhubori Lotus Pond from Fucheng Bridge Bus Station, get off and walk to the fork road marked by the arrow of Mackay Medical College. Follow the fork road, turn right and walk straight for about 8 to 10 minutes. You will arrive at the destination. After leaving the Balianxi Leisure Trail and the beautiful lotus fields, you will finally arrive at Houcuo Station. “Every summer I want to go to the beach.” I believe everyone must have heard the song “I Love Summer”. This attraction is located in Zhilan Park next to Repulse Bay. Walk forward and you will reach Repulse Bay Coastal Park, which is known as the “most beautiful catwalk on the North Coast.” The ” Zhilan Park Sea Observation Deck” was completed in August 2021. You can walk along the aqua-blue wave corridor. There is a public art work like a ring here called “Concentric”. It is based on stainless steel and artificial crystals , with smooth lines interlocking like a “ring”, firmly proving the unwavering vow. Coming to the observation deck is like walking into the center of the sea. Enjoy the beautiful sea view with a 360-degree wide view without dead ends. It has become a date for couples and a must-visit check-in spot for tourists . This trip to Sanzhi also draws a perfect end here. OK! Dear friends, we finally came to the Zhilan Park Sea Observation Deck. Today’s itinerary is also very fulfilling . I hope everyone will like it! This episode of the video is recorded here for you. If you like our video , please like, subscribe, share and turn on the little bell. I am Albert. Finally, I will use the coastline of the North Coast to say goodbye to everyone~ Bye Bye!
