もう30年!?T.M.Revolution西川貴教とアニソンの歴史を徹底紹介!【アニソン雑学】#anison #tmrevolution #animemusic

Hello everyone. I love anime songs, Zundamon. Hello! I’m your assistant, Kasukabe Tsumugi. It’s getting pretty hot, isn’t it? It’s so hot that I feel like I’m melting from the morning… it’s completely summer. So I’m going to introduce some anime song singers who have a summery image. Summery anime song singers? Who is it? The theme this time is Nishikawa Takanori, who is well known for his work in TMRevolution and abingdon boys school! He also sings the opening theme “HEROES” for the spring 2025 anime “A Country Old Man Becomes a Sword Saint”. Nishikawa’s brother! …But the reason he has such a summery image is because of “HOT LIMIT”! He was found out right away! For now, “HIGH PRESSURE” is also a summer song. It’s a song that makes your body feel summery! Actually, he also has “WHITE BREATH” and “Burnin’ X’mas”, so I don’t feel like he’s a summer singer that much. Let’s forget about that for now. Nishikawa-san sings a lot of anime songs these days, but in the late 1990s, he was a very popular singer who had a million-seller. He was incredibly popular. He has also appeared in the Red and White Song Battle five times. His witty talk is also really interesting. I used to look forward to seeing Nishikawa-san as a guest on music shows. So today, I will explain Nishikawa-san’s involvement with anime songs, looking back at the times. Now, Nishikawa-san’s involvement with anime songs has been going on for about 30 years. Speaking of Nishikawa-san, he continues to be active in various forms, not only under his real name, but also in TMRevolution, abingdon boys school, and collaborations with Mizuki Nana. That’s right. By the way, TMRevolution is Nishikawa-san’s solo project, which is an acronym for Takanori Makes Revolution. Although it is a solo project, it is said to have the meaning of walking together with producer Daisuke Asakura, related parties, and all fans. When did Nishikawa-san first take charge of anime songs? Nishikawa’s first anime tie-up dates back to 1996. It’s been almost 30 years! The ending theme of the still popular work “Rurouni Kenshin”, “HEART OF SWORD ~Yoake Mae~”, was the first anime tie-up work. It was the 3rd single under the name TMRevolution. It was ranked on the Oricon chart for 46 weeks and was a long-selling work that sold about 360,000 copies. “HEART OF SWORD” literally translates to “heart of the sword”, which means “Kenshin” of Himura Kenshin, the main character of “Rurouni Kenshin”! You can feel the love for the work. At that time, many of the anime tie-up songs had nothing to do with the content of the anime, so it’s nice that the title was properly conscious of the anime. That’s right. The original author, Nobuhiro Watsuki, also commented that it was “his favorite theme song”. Nishikawa also looks back and says, “Many people got to know TMRevolution through this song.” In fact, after this song became a hit, it started to be seen more often on music programs. That’s right. By the way, “HOT LIMIT,” which I mentioned earlier, was also tied up with an anime. Eh, was that so? I don’t really think of it as an anime song. It’s not surprising that Tsumugi thinks so. “HOT LIMIT” was tied up with an anime in 2016, 18 years after its release in 1998. It was tied up after 18 years!? I didn’t know that. What anime was it tied up with? It was used as the ending theme for the second episode of the anime “ReLIFE.” In “ReLIFE,” the concept was the songs that the main character listened to in his high school days on his homemade MD, and J-POP hits from around 2000 were used as the ending songs. There are certainly a lot of nostalgic songs, and it’s the 2000s! For Nishikawa, another big anime tie-up has been realized. It’s a tie-up with “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” and “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY”. That’s right. Nishikawa-san was in charge of the opening theme for the first season as TMRevolution. That was “INVOKE”. Director Mitsuo Fukuda specifically offered it to Nishikawa-san, saying, “We definitely want Nishikawa-san to do it!” Nishikawa-san also worked hard on the production to live up to his expectations, and as a result, it became a song that has been loved for a long time. Nishikawa-san himself didn’t expect it to be loved for so long, so it was a pleasant surprise. In addition, he also sang the ballad “Meteor” as an insert song in “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED”, which dramatically livened up the climax of the story! I really love “Meteor”! And in the sequel “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY”, he also sang “ignited” and “vestige”. It’s amazing how he can sing both up-tempo battle songs and sad ballads. His music brings out both the hot battle scenes and the sad human drama in the work. Nishikawa-san tends to get attention for his eccentric costumes, but he also has an incredibly good singing voice. That’s right. If you try to imitate Nishikawa-san and sing karaoke, you’ll end up suffering because you won’t be able to sing well at all. This is a premonition of Zundamon’s dark history! No, that’s not it…! Moreover, Nishikawa-san has appeared as a voice actor in both works. That’s right. Moreover, the name of the character Heine Westenfluss, which he played in “Gundam SEED DESTINY”, has a bit of playfulness in it. That’s right! What kind of playfulness is there? “Westenfluss” means “west river” in German. I see, it really feels like the character was made for Nishikawa-san. The songs he sang in Gundam have received a great response from overseas fans. The song has been performed live in anime events in English-speaking countries and Asia, and has gained support across borders. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED has become an indispensable part of Nishikawa’s musical activities. In 2005, Nishikawa began a new challenge. He formed the four-member rock band Abingdon Boys School, with Nishikawa himself as the vocalist. They tied up with anime from their debut song. Their first single, “INNOCENT SORROW,” was the opening theme for D.Gray-man. “INNOCENT SORROW” was a hit that debuted in the top 5 on the Oricon charts, and the group got off to a good start. The next song they released was “HOWLING,” which is… “DARKER THAN BLACK”! I love it! Yes, it was the opening theme for the 2007 anime “DARKER THAN BLACK – Kuro no Keiyakusha”. The heavy guitar riffs and Nishikawa’s high-pitched, shout-like vocals in this song are electrifying. “DARKER THAN BLACK – Kuro no Keiyakusha -” is still one of my favorite anime. I really love Amber. The powerful sound of “HOWLING” enhanced the hard-boiled atmosphere of the work. Also, the ending theme “Tsukiakari” sung by Rie fu is also a really good song. Next, from 2008 onwards, Nishikawa began to work on many anime songs for both TMRevolution and abingdon boys school. In 2008, for the first time in about four years, he worked on the opening theme “resonance” for “Soul Eater” under the name TMRevolution. That’s right . As “abingdon boys school”, in 2009 alone, he worked on “STRENGTH.” for “Soul Eater”, “JAP” for “Sengoku BASARA”, “Kimi no Uta” for “Tokyo Magnitude 8.0”, and “From Dusk Till Dawn” for “DARKER THAN BLACK – Ryuusei no Gemini”. “From Dusk Till Dawn” is a ballad that evokes the stillness and melancholy of the pre-dawn days, and is said to be one of Abingdon Boys School’s hidden gems. It’s amazing that they’ve been able to collaborate with anime one after another, but it’s also amazing that they’re all famous anime . They’ve really been a big success. Among them, Nishikawa’s connection with the “Sengoku BASARA” series is particularly deep. For the movie version of “Sengoku BASARA -The Last Party-” released in 2011, TMRevolution was in charge of the theme song “FLAGS” and Abingdon Boys School was in charge of the ending theme “The party must go on”. Abingdon Boys School was in charge of the ending theme “The party must go on”. It’s really unusual for Nishikawa to use two different names to perform the theme song and ending song for one movie. And when talking about Nishikawa’s activities in the 2010s, one thing that can’t be left out is his collaboration with Mizuki Nana in 2013’s “Valvrave the Liberator”! It was “Preserved Roses” under the name “TMRevolution x Mizuki Nana”! It became a hot topic as “the dream collaboration between the king and queen of the anime song world”. It ‘s a duet full of speed, and the overwhelming singing ability of the two collide in an energetic number that’s super cool. It recorded 2nd place on the Oricon weekly chart, and the collaboration was realized again for the opening theme of the second season, “Kakumei Dualism”! It was the final act at Animelo Summer Live, and the enthusiasm of the audience became big news , so it’s bound to be exciting! It’s a collaboration song that represents the anime songs of the 2010s. Nishikawa has taken on many challenges since then. In 2014, he was in charge of both the opening and ending songs for the anime “Disc Wars: Avengers,” co-produced by Marvel and Toei Animation. That’s right. He also wrote the music for a puppet show called “Thunderbolt Fantasy. ” “Thunderbolt Fantasy” is a puppet show created by Gen Urobuchi, who is known for the screenplay and original idea for “Puella Magi Madoka Magica.” Nishikawa’s involvement with the “Thunderbolt Fantasy” series, which began in 2016, is quite deep. In the sequel to “Thunderbolt Fantasy” in 2018, he teamed up with Hiroyuki Sawano, which became a hot topic. Apparently, he started performing under his real name around 2017. That’s right. He was in charge of the opening theme “Bright Burning Shout” for the 2018 anime “Fate/EXTRA Last Encore”. Nishikawa, who has been known as a long-time anime and game fan, was the first to sing the theme song for the “Fate” series. It was a bit surprising. Even after 2020, the anime song scene has become more and more diverse, but Nishikawa’s presence is still strong. He often collaborates with other famous artists to tie up with anime. For example, who have he collaborated with? In 2020, he participated in the game-based anime “Shironeko Project ZERO CHRONICLE” under the name Nishikawa Takanori + ASCA, and performed “Tenbin-Libra-“, a collaboration between talented artists of different generations. In addition, he also sang the opening theme “1, 2, 3” for “Pokemon” in the unit “Nishikawa-kun to Kirisho” with Golden Bomber’s Kiryuin Sho. He’s also doing Pokemon! Furthermore, in 2024, Nishikawa was in charge of the theme song “FREEDOM” for the long-awaited movie version of the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” series, “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM”, under the name of Nishikawa Takanori with Komuro Tetsuya. Nishikawa has been active for such a long time, but he continues to challenge himself to new things every year. I think so too. And this year, in 2025, he is in charge of the opening theme “HEROES” for “A Country Old Man Becomes a Sword Saint”. Nishikawa, who is now in his 50s, has a message in his song that “anyone can become a hero”. When Nishikawa says it, it’s so convincing! Today, I have been explaining the relationship between Nishikawa Takanori, who is also known for his work in TMRevolution and abingdon boys school, and anime songs. Looking back, Nishikawa and the history of anime songs are amazing! He has been active at the forefront from the 1990s to the 2020s. With his passionate shouts and delicate singing, Nishikawa has colored a wide variety of anime genres with his music, from Kenshin to Gundam, dark heroes to fantasy works! Nishikawa himself is a self-proclaimed anime fan, and he tweets his thoughts on late-night anime and visits Comiket, so he is a person who is really filled with love for anime, which is why he is well-liked. That’s why his respect for the works is reflected in his songs, which resonate with the hearts of his fans! I’m looking forward to seeing how Nishikawa will continue to surprise us in the future. That’s all for today’s video. If you have any favorite songs by Nishikawa Takanori, please let me know in the comments section. Please subscribe to my channel and give it a high rating . Thank you for watching today. Please watch the next video again.
