【対談】本田圭佑 x マーティン・サンティレール: 夢を追う人と出会う #TitanFXDreamBeyondBorders

[Music] Nice meeting you. [Music] I’m Martin. I met the owner of Titan FX five, six years ago. Okay. Um, Australian, British, there’s one that is Japanese, there’s one that is Malle that. So, there are five five founders. Yes. Five founders. And at Titanfix at that time we were maybe 50. Now we are about 140. Been in Vanoatu uh for the last 23 years. I hope that you will have the the chance to come and touch and and to see that. But yes, please come. This is me. So can you introduce you? Um what what do you know? What what do you want to know about me? So I haven’t retired as a professional soccer player. On the other hands I run my venture capital in the US and Japan. Most of time I spend for venture capital today. What type of investment that you are? Our mission is to create da coin from Japan. We have never add in our history. Technically we can invest any sectors sector agnostic and if there is any great opportunity the companies might be uh take up we would invest. Okay. So autonomous driving consumer energy space as well. So every sectors um are our target. We put the money into the reish companies. We it takes you take a lot of risk but you know like returns will be more than 100 times sometimes. So that’s my business today. You make the decision of investing in this company. How much do you rely on um data analysis? Good question. The company is still very early stage. So not many numbers sometimes. So we have to just analyze the founders and team members and also check the competitors and you know how big is the market. It’s very how do you say um difficult to judge going to the the team of today that was dream beyond border. I I’d like to know what does it mean for you? A dream dream is my my my life you know sometimes it hurts when I fail or you know when I face a lot of difficulties you know after I overcome those hard things it made me strong again I can’t imagine my life without dream culture wise you know people who fail or make mistakes are criticized So they are afraid to do something new. Maybe Japanese people think about me I’m crazy. Failing is how you learn. It’s how you grow. It’s when you stand up again failure. Do you have one dream or you have like two five dream? Uh so I football dream like soccer dream and business dream. So maybe I can say two. So I want to be number one in both of them. You know how to be number one. in the athlete game. You’ve done it. Do you know probably how much effort or actually is it the same to be the number one in business? I mean like I couldn’t become uh number one in football space which means I I just want to become a champion of world cup as a national team but I couldn’t make it happen. Now I want to make it happen as a coach. So that’s my dream in football super and business is maybe I don’t know what’s what that’s uh number one mean in business that of course it’s capitalism writing and I’m an investor so maybe I need to increase maybe aum or you know like that amount is the one of the like KPI in a business space right so yeah so I want to always look for the number one players in the US or something like is and we are aiming to beat them for a long time. Who who inspired you the most growing up? I have to say it’s my dad. I played soccer because of him. He just showed me the video of LA from Brazil around 5 years old or something. I already started playing soccer with my my brother. But my father, he had very high standards. I never been admitted by that during my careers until I played the world cup for the first time in 2010 in the South Africa. He looks happy when I played the world that that was his way like I ke his he his style was very unique and not like other fathers. So that’s why I think I could become like this. So I appreciate um like my dad dream evolve over times but in the football side hasn’t changed from players to coach it’s same dream like become a you know champion of the world cup but you’re right I didn’t think I have a business target when I used to play you know soccer in the very early age so now I have it so I’m not sure if I have another dreams in theuture future. How important is the choice of the environment you believe for success? Choosing the right team, choosing the right people, the team is very important and the people is everything especially in sports. So I think I do I do believe this. Yeah. Strawberry. What is this? Yes, I have a little uh a little gift. A little gift that I brought from Vanoatu. It’s a tam. This one is more an amulet. It’s to give you a good wealth and good health on 10 years. Yes. Python effects been uh in existence for 10 years this year. So that that’s 10 years. Yeah. Congrats. Discipline, consistency, initiative. Let’s dream beyond borders together.
