えこの度の心理事会におきまして私橋本清 誠会長に立候補をさせていただきましたま その上でえ下半数を得ることができまして え36年のこのJOCの歴史の中で初めて の選挙そして初めての女性会長というえ 大変え公栄な人につかせていただくことに なりました はいあのパを持っていきますので少々 私は新たな女性の愛相会長が誕生したということを受け止めた時にここでしっかりと JOC も新たな体制づりに着地をしていかなければいけない まそして太多陽生徒調和あるいは男女平等 そういったどんどんどんどん前に進んで いくIOCの考え方にJOCが遅れること なくそれ以上に寄り添う形の中で新たな 改革を迫いるんだとすれば私自身全力で そこに行かなければいけないという風に 決意をしたのはちょうどコメントリーさん が会長になった時でありました 会長とええ収任おめでとうございますえあのお 2人 外からアシストをすることもできたという風に思いますでも私は困難な状況の今だからこそ身をじるべきだという覚悟の中で新しい改革案を打ち出していきたい そしてまた再び日本 でオリンピックパラリンピック を開催するその開催の能力があるんだと いうことと準備をしていくことは使命だと いう風に考えてお話をさせていただきまし た はいよろしいでしょうかちょっと待って くださいお願いします
At a board meeting held in Tokyo, the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) elected Seiko Hashimoto as its new president, succeeding Yasuhiro Yamashita. Hashimoto, an Olympic speed skating medalist and former president of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee, is the first woman to hold the position in JOC’s 36-year history.
Unlike previous selections where candidates were narrowed to a single nominee before the vote, this time three candidates—former Japan Football Association chairman Kozo Tashima, JOC vice president Yuko Mitsuya, and Hashimoto—were nominated, prompting the board to hold a vote for the first time.
Chairman Yamashita, who served three terms as JOC president, was injured in 2023 and is still undergoing treatment. He will step down after completing his term in June 2025.
Hashimoto said she was inspired by the recent appointment of Kirsty Coventry as the first female president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and felt it was time for the JOC to embrace change.
“If the JOC is to keep pace with the IOC’s progressive direction on diversity, harmony, and gender equality—and even go beyond it in terms of reform—I must dedicate myself fully to that mission,” she said. Hashimoto also emphasized her commitment to leading internal reforms and expressed her ambition for Japan to once again host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
