UFC QUICKIE: UFC 321 Picks | 70% YTD – Time to Bounce Back!
[Music] Last week’s card was absolutely brutal, guys. Cursed from the start. We had multiple fights affected by weird groin shots. And then in the main event during Brendan Allen’s walkout, some psychopath holding up his phone showing some super weird image. Supposedly, police are looking for that guy. And then, of course, in the main event, the the contender Rineer Derritter gassing out in one round. super weird card. All of that coming off the heels of what personally for us was an amazing card the week before where we went 11 and one. We were shooting over 80% on the month of October. And even with last week’s stinker, guys, we’re still over 70% on the year. So, we are going to bounce back here at UFC 321. That’s what we do. Before we get into the quickie here, do us a favor. Hit that like and subscribe button. It would mean the absolute world to us. Last week we got around like almost 200 subscribers and we really do appreciate you guys. We’re really goddamn close to 2,000 and we are trying to get there. So hook your boys up. And then you can also follow us on Instagram at the107 MMA. Lot of cool things on there. Pictures with us and fighters and memes and stuff like that. But more importantly, we post on Saturday morning. And I have to clarify this again. We post on Saturday morning, fight day morning, we post our official picks. So, I give you guys these picks. Sometimes things change, right? Weigh-ins happen. Someone misses weight. Someone looks like on the scale. changes. But anyways, guys, welcome to the quickie. We fly through these goddamn cards really fast. So, without wasting much time, let’s get straight into it. First fight of the night, we’ve got Jacqueline Amarim and she is taking on Mizuki Anoi. Guys, Amarim is a physical tank with super slick grappling. Uh, growing striking game, right? She is a grappler, but her striking is evolving, and I absolutely love that for her. She’s really aggressive. She’s always hunting the sub. She has taken on Ine. She’s a seasoned vet, guys. Technical, durable, composed, but she’s coming off of a super godamn long layoff here. Uh, this is a layup. This is Jacqueline Amarim by sub, round one. She may play into it and just give us an extra round, but free cheese. Jacqueline Amarim by submission is absolutely free cheese. You could lock that into any sort of parlesy you like. Moving on. Azat Maxim versus Mitch Raposo. Guys, Azat Maxim is an absolute dog. A Kazakhstani scrambler. Is that how you say it? Kazakhstani. Regardless, a Kazakhstani scrambler. Uh, super herky jerky kind of striking, right? Like he’s really awkward on the feet, but he really thrives in chaos and he wins fights when he turns them ugly. He’s taking on Mitch Raposo, a a very, very solid fighter. a guy who’s been kind of underrated in the promotion. Uh has some good experience, some sharp boxing, but he’s undersized at the division, guys. And Azant Maxim is a bigger dude. Um minus 425 tells you what you need to know. Give me Aat Maxim by decision. We move on. Hamdi Abdul Wahab versus Huggy Bear Chris Barnett. Chris Barnett. Absolutely beloved, guys. He is short. I think he’s the shortest heavyweight on the roster. Dude’s got to be like 5’8. Uh he’s absolutely beloved, right? He does a lot of spinning be super goddamn athletic for a guy that looks like he should have no type of athleticism. Um, but we did see him hurt not too long ago in the Kennedy and Czech Woo fight. He’s taking on Hamdi Abdul Wahab, a big dude, uh, thick dude. I shouldn’t say big. He’s also not tall for the division, but he’s very thick and powerful, very raw as well. He has a good wrestling base. And I think that’s going to be the difference here. Right. Last time we saw him fight in the Middle East against Muhammad Usman, he won a very controversial decision. Now, while I don’t see this being very controversial, we do need to note that this fight is in the Middle East, right? So, Hamdi Abdul Wahab is going to have the favor of the crowd, the favor of the biased judging if you tend to, you know, lean that way and believe that’s a thing. Give me Hamdi Abdul Wahab by decision. I’m going to tell you this though, as far as betting, and this is not the betting podcast. If you guys want that, stick around for Harry from Prom Bets. He’s going to be on with us soon. Um, I’m not touching this. Minus 410’s crazy. Hamdi Abdwahab is not that good. We move on. Nathaniel Wood and he’s taking on Jose Delgado. Guys, Delgato is a flashy prospect, right? Really sharp jab, really fast kicks. He’s speedy as hell. He just hasn’t faced that higher echelon of competition yet. So, we don’t really know what we’re going to get from him. And this is a big ass test because he’s taking on Nathaniel Wood, the prospect, right? I feel like Nathaniel Wood’s been around forever. Uh, but he’s the proven guy here, right? He’s fast. He’s good. fast hands, good footwork. Really, he’s seen it all. He’s fought every kind of style. He’s fought all over the world. I wish he would fight more often so we’d know more about Nathaniel Wood. And then today, I saw on social media, the dude locked, he’s locked in. He’s absolutely locked in. So, seeing him at plus money here, being the proven guy, I have to trust Nathaniel Wood. I think he wins this fight by decision. I think he’s going to mix in some takedowns and ultimately that’ll be the difference. So, give me Nathaniel Wood by decision. I love the dog price. We move on. Walter Walker versus Louis Sutherland. Two guys that are coming off of Well, they were both supposed to have fights. Both of their opponents fell out, so they meet in Abu Dhabi. Walter Walker, of course, Johnny’s brother. A very powerful, composed grappler. His striking is coming into its own. I like it a lot. He’s big. He’s explosive. He was sort of a Dagistani style wrestler, you know, having grown up and trained in Russia, but now he’s adding the the hands with it. And then on top of it, his last three fights, I think, were were finished by Heel Hook. So, he’s kind of got like a finishing maneuver. He’s taken on Louis Sutherland, a UK slugger, right? He is exactly who he looks like he would be. He’s a brawler. He’s flatfooted. He throws big, but he just struggles when things become too technical, when things slow down. And I think Walter Walker is going to be able to do that with the grappling. So, I will go Walter Walker here. I will go finish. I just don’t think he’s going to get that fourth heel hook in a row. I think this time it’ll be ground and pound. So give me Walter Walker round two TKO to ground and pound. And then we move on to a very interesting fight. Abdul Kareem Elsa Wadi taking on Matteos Camo. And I’m going to keep it a bean with you guys. I’m going to keep it a buck right here. Okay. Both of these guys not so good. I don’t think they’re highlevel fighters. I don’t think they’re UFC caliber, honestly. Either one of them. But Matteas Camo, wildly explosive Brazilian. He’s kind of kill or be killed. He’s either going to finish you or be finished. That’s the style of fight he has. He’s aggressive. He’s powerful. He’s chaotic, but the cardio is really bad. And the defensive grappling is really goddamn bad. He’s taking on Abdul Karim El Salwadi, which is a super damn long name with two dashes in it. Uh, a technical fighter, right? He’s solid. He’s from the Middle Eastern region, so of course he’s going to be the home fighter here. Well-rounded, disciplined, carries himself like a veteran, also just not that good, right? He doesn’t pop on tape. There’s nothing special about him. He he does fight a lot cleaner than Matteas Camo, so that’s why I have to take him here. Um, I guess technically he’s the underdog. So, I will take the hometown guy being the underdog being the more seasoned veteran and being the guy that I think can mix it up more. Of course, Matteas Camilo can absolutely catch him with something massive. I just think if it goes to the scorecards, Abdul Karim Elsawati wins. And that’s kind of how I see this playing out. We move on. I love this fight, guys. Ludic Klein taking on Mateos Rambetski. Ludic Klein, a very powerful southpaw striker, real knockout power, especially early on in fights, right? He is super goddamn dangerous. He holds it well throughout the fight, but of course it’s at its peak early on. We saw that last time out. He he looked so goddamn fast against uh the other Polish fella who’s, you know, his name’s escaping me right now. But Ludic Klein can fall into these traps, guys, where he gets sort of low output and I don’t love that for him. He’s taking on Matteos Rebecki, who I absolutely love. There’s nothing to not love about him. He is a very interesting fighter. His fights are always goddamn wars. They’re always goddamn exciting. The problem with Matteos Rebecki is his face gets beat to guys. He always looks like he’s been through a meat grinder after every single fight. After the first round, honestly, a couple jabs and this guy’s face balloons up. He’s short. He’s stocky. He’s got great wrestling. We’ve seen that on the regional scene. He’s got really goddamn good power for a little compact body. He’s durable as hell. He survives all of those, you know, all the damage he takes. He rarely takes a step back. I love Matteos Rbecki, so I think I’m picking him here, right? And again, follow us on Instagram for the official pick on Saturday. But for now, I’m going Matteos Rbecki. I just worry about the damage showing on his face. That looks awful for judges, right? Like in what could be a close round, I can see a judge being swayed if Matteas Rebeck’s eyes are swollen shut and he’s bleeding over here and the other guy looks clean. So, I’ll go Rebecki by decision, but this should be a goddamn war, a potential fight of the night. Uh, probably my favorite fight to be fight of the night. So, Matteas Rebecki by decision. We move on. Iram Aliscarov taking on the Iron Turtle, Jungy Young Park. Uh, Jungyong Park. gritty, super goddamn game, clean boxing, good cardio, good ground game, good sub skills. He can take damage, he can make fights dirty. He is such a fun, durable fighter. He just struggles when the guy he’s facing is a superior athlete. And that’s what he’s facing here in Ikram Alaskarov, a super talented Dagistani fighter. Sharp striking, smothering grappling. He’s explosive as hell. He’s dangerous early. Legit legitimate prospect. the two losses that I remember him taking and I believe there’s only two on his on his record is Hamzat Chamay on the regional scene and then of course Robert Whitaker not too long ago. This guy’s legit. He’s going to be in the top of this division for a while. So I will take Icramalis Scarov here. Uh round one KO I think he makes it look easy. We move on to a fight that I don’t think will be very easy and that’s Nazarat Hackparass and he is taking on Killian Calkilled. Love this kid too. But yeah, let’s start with him. Killian Southfield, Australian newcomer, right? Some good pops, some good movements, some good leg kicks, largely unproven. We haven’t seen him against the elite of the elite, but he has looked so goddamn good so far. Um, he’s taking on Nazareth Hackparest, a veteran. And we’re seeing that theme on this card, right? An unproven guy versus like a solid veteran. Not if you’re supposed to be like, let’s say you’re this young guy, and I’m going on a tangent here real quick, but let’s say you’re Killian Salekild and there’s a lot of potential for you. a lot of people believe in you. Nazarat Hackparass is the kind of guy that’s going to let us know if you belong. Cuz if you can beat a guy like that, then you are a legitimate prospect. If you can’t, then that might kind of be your ceiling, right? Not to on Nazarat Hackpast. He’s a great fighter, but this fight’s going to tell us a lot about Killian Sakild. Moving on to Nazarat Hackpaste, the veteran, Chris Boxing, great takedown defense, really goddamn good volume, very experienced for his age, a guy that fights so goddamn wise. He’s such a mature fighter. He’s such a smart, cerebral fighter. And to me, in a minus 112 versus a minus 108, it looks like Vegas is split on this. I have to go with the veteran here. While I do believe in Killian Salkild, I just don’t know if he’s that level of fighter, and I don’t think he’s ready at this point in his career to take on a guy like Nazarat Hackrest, who has shown us nothing but being an awesome fighter. So, give me Nazarat Hackrest. I will go by decision 2928 in a scrappy back and forth fight. We move on to the main card, guys. And holy I love this fight as well. Alexander Rockic taking on the undefeated Azamat Mzakonov. Azamat Mzakanov, compact, powerful, real knockout threat again, especially early in fights. He’s undefeated, but he has shown signs of fading late in fights. And that’s where I kind of worry for him alongside the fact that he’s kind of small for light heavyweight. A lot of these 205ers are absolutely massive. And Alexander Rockic is one of those guys. Tall, rangy striker, really goddamn good kicks. Like really, really goddamn good kicks. Solid takedown defense as my alarm rings there. If if healthy, I honestly believe that Alexander Rockic belongs up there in that top five, right? It’s Alex Pereira, Yiri, Jamal Hill, the guys that have been the champions, Yan Blovic, right? And now we have Carlos Goldberg. Like that’s the mix. Jamal Hill, all these guys. That’s the mix. And I think Rockic belongs there. I just think Azimot Makanov is that little step underneath those guys. So I’m going Alexander Rockic, right? The last memory we have of Alexander Rock, or the bad one that sticks out, I should say, is the Yuri Prohashka finish, right? We all think so goddamn highly of Yuri, who by the way follows us on Instagram, as should you at the 107 MMA. But the last image we have is him getting knocked out by Yuri. But we forget he was absolutely winning that fight until that finishing sequence happened. So I love Rockic. Uh I I like Ozam Makanov a lot too. I just don’t think he’s that level of guy. So give me Rockic by decision. We move on to an interesting fight in in the heavyweight division and probably what has title implications all over it. That’s Alexander Voffov taking on Gileton Almeida. Jelton Almeida, as we all know, a relentless grappler, absolutely elite top control, suffocating on the ground, sometimes can be seen as boring, right? Very one-dimensional. And that’s what Curtis Blades told us in the interview that we did with him. He goes, “This guy’s one-dimensional. I knew that he wasn’t going to be able to out wrestle me if I really wanted to and that I would be able to pick him apart on the feet. And I I don’t know that that’s necessarily what happened, but Curtis Blaze got the knockout he was talking about. He’s like, “This dude’s too goddamn one-dimensional and I’m too experienced.” He’s taking on a guy in, speaking of experience, right? He’s taking on a guy in Alexander Volkov who has so goddamn much experience. He’s a super super tall for the division striker, super lanky, underrated takedown defense. The problem is once he’s on the ground, he’s kind of lost. The fish out of water. He says he’s been training with a lot of wrestlers up there in Russia. And if that’s the case and he’s able to stuff these takedowns, he wins this fight. I just don’t know that he can. But I will tell you this, this is the fight that I find myself flip-flopping on more than any other on this card. So, I’ll probably change my mind three, four times before Saturday. But for now, I’ll take the favorite in Jatin Almeida. I think he’s going to make it a snoozefest of a wrestling fight. I think he’s going to get position. I think he’s going to dominate position. Not do much with it. Just hold Vulkov down and get himself the dub. So, give me Almeida by decision for now. We move on. Umar Nurmaga Medov versus Mario Batista. Now, first thing I’ll point out here, minus 625 for Umar Nurmagamedov. A lot of people, and I’m talking a lot of people, content creators, UFC fighters, fans on the blogs and and the Instagram and the Tik Toks and all that Everyone’s talking about Mario Batista can win this fight, guys. Let’s not count him out like Mario Batista. They’re picking him as like a as like as if he’s their pick. He’s their underdog of the card. He’s the underdog of the month kind of thing. Minus 625 lets me know that you’re not putting your money where your mouth is. These these lines have not shrunk at all. It It’s kind of been here pretty goddamn stable. You go look at tapology, which I’m about to click right now. Give me one second. I know this is quicky and we’re supposed to be flying through this, but this needs to be said. 90 90% of people on Tapology are picking Umar Nurmagamed off. So, why are you guys lying? Make your goddamn picks. Make your bets accordingly. And stop lying. There’s no way that Umar Nurmagamed loses this fight, guys. I’m sorry. This fight is in Abu Dhabi, so even if it’s a close decision, it’s going to Umar. Plus, he’s the younger, more dynamic striker. He’s probably just as good a grappler, if not better than Mario Batista. And the UFC wants to push him. They want him and Morab. They want Umar with the straps. So, Umar wins this fight. I’m going Umar by decision. He’s just elite in the grappling. He’s a very fluid striker. He’s dangerous. Mario Batista is just a clean kind of slowpaced very technical methodical fighter and that style is going to be very goddamn easy for Habib and his team to break down. So Umar by decision we move on the co-main event for the vacant strawweight title McKenzie Dur versus Verna Jangova in a rematch right but this first fight was a really goddamn long time ago so we don’t factor that in. Uh, let’s start with Mackenzie Durren. Super high level BJJ, right? A world champion. Ghee, no ghee, all that She’s done it. She’s been there, seen that. She’s severely limited on the feet, guys. Her striking is awkward. Her fight IQ is very sus and questionable. If she doesn’t get the fight to the mat, she often gets pieced up. She’s super goddamn inconsistent. And she has taken on Verna, who’s been on an absolute tear. Now, while she’s not the level of grappler that Mackenzie Durn is in terms of the pure jiu-jitsu, she is a black belt herself, she’s definitely the better wrestler between the two, she’s more composed on the feet, more technical, and more powerful on the feet. She’s super tough. She’s underrated. She’s been on this huge win streak. I was contemplating picking her against Way Lee if that fight ever took place. And I’ll let you guys know, in the last five years, I’ve been wrong only twice on women’s MMA title fights. I’m very goddamn concerned about this one because I know the UFC’s intentions are to have Mackenzie Durn with the strap, but I’m going the other way. I’m going Verna Janova. I think it’s her turn. She’s the rightful contender. She is the rightful next in line after Wayi. And I think McKenzie Durn is just thrown into this spot. Not to sound like this, but for her looks, right? She is a good fighter. I don’t think she’s elite. I think Vera Genjinova is elite. So, give me Vera by decision. And we get to the main event of the evening where the newly minted heavyweight champion of the world, the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Tom Aspenol, makes the first defense of his undisputed title against former threetime, this is going to be the third time undisputed title challenger as well as one interim title fight that he had against Derrick Lewis, Sirill Gan. Guys, Sirill Gan elite elite footwork, elite athleticism for the division. He’s massive. He’s such a sharp striker. He’s so goddamn fast for heavyweight. He moves like a middleweight. That that term has been thrown around so much about these two guys over the last five, six years. And to kind of see where they have ended up makes sense, right? Like we knew these were the top two dogs at heavyweight once that generation of Francis Enanu and Jon Jones and all those guys kind of went on. We knew it’d be these two. So I’m happy we’re getting to see this fight. Uh Sirrogon has been exposed in the grappling before, right? the Jon Jones fight, he was taken down and subbed immediately. Um, it I feel like that’s such a clear path for Tom Aspenol. I wonder if Tom Aspenol will take that or if he will try to prove a point and stay standing with Sir Gone. If he does that, Sirill Gan is a very goddamn complicated puzzle on the feet. Now, in terms of Tom Aspenol, he’s the full package, guys. He’s that new generation of heavyweight, right? And I I’ve said this before, I’ll say it again. I think he holds the belt for a really goddamn long time. He’s super fast. His hands are crazy fast. They’re big as as well. Clean boxing, a slick jiu-jitsu practitioner. He’s been doing that since he was a child. Underrated wrestling, super damn big and athletic, the heir to the heavyweight throne, right? And I’m a Jon Jones fan and I’m saying that. So Tom Aspenol is my pick. I think he is going to piece up Sir Gan. I’m going round two KO. I get the feeling that Siriel Gan is going to try to extend this fight, take Tom to deeper waters and then, you know, start picking it up in the second. I think the first is going to be a super defensive round. Then in the second, once we open up, one of the first big exchanges that we get, I think Tom catches him. I will say this though, Tom leaves that chin hanging up in the goddamn air and if Sirill Gan can land clean, Tom Aspenol is going down. Super nerve-wracking fight. I’m super excited. Personally, I will be rooting for Serial Gone, but the pick is Tommy Aspenol. And that is it, guys. Thank you for watching the quickie. Now, do us two favors before we get out of here.
