My biggest favorite is to watch classic movies and collect them, for this one, it’s really good so that I keep it on my USB over 20 years now, today, I am gonna share it with all the movie lovers via Youtube. 這部電影裡面最令我感動的是其透過日本著名詩人, 西條八十的詩集《草帽歌》貫穿整個劇情的始終, 整部電影雖然是一部推理嫌疑片, 但是借用詩的朦朧來表達出一位曾經歷過苦難的母親在面對自己兩個不同膚色的兒子時,內心的那份矛盾和痛苦, 這樣的母子情愫正如詩句裡面所表達的難以言說的感情不謀而合.

I watched it for Mifune Toshiro alone. The few minutes he was in it, I loved him, although without subtitles I could not understand the conversation. The film however, was a terribly sad one, it is haunting me.
SPOILER ALERT!
All the atrocities soldiers did in the war! There are only losers in war. People become worse when they go to war, and they are bad anyway. The part where the little Japanese boy saw how brutal American soldiers beat his father to death and kick him until he dies and then urinate on him, is one of these disgraceful acts of war. The other one just moments later as they rape, 4 of them, a young Japanese girl. It is impossible to see that wihtout being moved and also horrified. And the rest of the film does not get any better. The mother killing one of her sons, the one that may have come as a result of the rape or from another soldier it is not clear without understanding the dialogues, or the other where the old man died from drugs and the policeman is stabbed to death coming out of the old man's place. It is a nightmare of a film, too realistic too painful, and I only mentioned a few things there is so much more.
有人為了親情，拋棄了名利；但也有人為了名利而滅絕了親情，人性複雜啊………..
