The Solitary Gourmet is a movie adaptation of the popular Japanese TV series, “Kodoku No Gourmet”. The main character, Goro Inogashira, is a typical Japanese salaryman who travels all over Japan for work. During his trips, he loves to try different restaurants by himself. Reprising Goro Inogashira once more is Yutaka Matsushige, who has also taken on the directorial role for this film. Upon visiting an old friend’s daughter in Paris, Goro learns of her grandfather’s wish to taste a particular soup from his childhood. From there begins Goro’s culinary journey to find this mysterious soup, traveling through Japan and after several misadventures, even ending up in South Korea all the while indulging in the local cuisine.
