And they come in wave, take out the consistent ones at top 3. Osaka have yet to go on hot streak. I like the Osaka, who find middle ground. Find game that actual beat people in early round.
Naomi seems really limited in tactics and ways she can win a point. With players like tonight she needs to learn how to grind more a la Agassi late in his career and Djkovic. Higher margins, controlled aggression until you get a short ball then attack. Naomi plays such low percentage tennis, going for winners from behind the baseline and never coming forward. Maybe she won this 4 or 5 years ago but times are different now Having a tough time seeing her succeed with this risky game plan going forward. Motivation must be tough because she was already making $50 million in endorsements even during the year she did not play.
Somebody please teach Osaka how to play tennis. She just know how to knock a ball out. Zero strategy just raw power ,never a rally…..and she made millions in women's tennis that way. 😱 Unbelievable.

BNP round 1 she pushed the opponent to the third set. Her power is still there, let alone she used to have that unfortunate incident with her left wrist. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the comeback. Ah, let’s not forget the comeback of Ms. Bencic. 🎉

I think she played very good last year and really not playing well in the Middle East hurt her a little because she lacks match play. I know she feels she is still a elite player but the other players disagree and it shows in the matches. Elite players find a way to win even when they are not playing well.
I do believe that Naomi let the love of worldly things (rapper boyfriend , fashion, loads of money, attention, trophies etc) get to her. It’s okay to receive those gifts if you aren’t letting them damage your soul in the process. She never seemed interested in doubles, grass or clay and she will be 28 this year. All I can say now from what I’m seeing with her is that she should be very proud of the accomplishments. She was able to play the greatest female tennis player whom she looked up too. Beat her in a final which was her dream and win 4 slams, reach #1 and win other great titles. PLENTY of tennis players could only wish that resume. With her power, on a very good day I still wouldn’t count her out. She looks about done, but I can be wrong with her talent. Serena way after her prime, late 30s and had a baby made 4 slam finals and won a title, but Serena had variety. I’m just a bit confused, because if she looked up to Serena so much wouldn’t you study the variety she had as well? I see Coco and Aryna being more of a study of Serena with the variety they are putting in their game.
Osaka just cannot hit approach shots inside the service line anymore! Cannot keep forehand groundstroke at the baseline from going out either. Looks like Osaka is now one of the “has been” WTA players!😂

Naomi never use drop shots or any variety of shots just pure power with no much control thats why she loses more than win.
Playing like that Osorio could save 20 breaks points against this version of Osaka at the end of the second set.
