As our round-island journey enters its final stretch, Day 8 took us through some of Taiwan’s most picturesque countryside. We started from 知本, cycling through serene landscapes toward 池上稻田 — vast, lush paddy fields that felt like a green ocean under the sun.
A highlight of the day was a stop at the iconic 金城武樹, made famous by a commercial featuring Takeshi Kaneshiro. The tree stands alone in a sea of rice fields — peaceful, cinematic, and truly memorable.
For lunch, we enjoyed the locally renowned 池上便當 beside 大坡池, a calm lakeside spot perfect for resting and refueling.
Our journey continued through quiet backroads until we reached 瑞穗, where we checked into the charming 虎爺溫泉渡假莊園. A satisfying dinner followed by a soothing soak in the onsen made it the perfect way to relax after a full day of cycling.
Truly a day that reminded us how beautiful and peaceful Taiwan’s east coast can be.
