【熊本ドライブ旅】滝の裏側に入れる絶景「鍋ヶ滝」と湯けむり温泉郷|夫婦で巡る癒しの旅

A night drive starts a slightly special journey It always starts here I was looking forward to this night This drink is the signal to start I ‘m heading to a hot spring in Kumamoto that I’ve always been curious about I’m visiting a place for the first time What kind of encounters will I have I left home at night to soak in the quiet hot springs in the morning I’m going to sleep in the car here tonight I’m starting to get ready to sleep MUJI storage box Thanks to this, the inside of the car becomes flat Tonight’s bed is complete Good morning. It’s a little cold but it’s a pleasant morning I’m glad the weather is good What degree is it now? It’s risen by 8 degrees It was 4 degrees just a moment ago Ah, it’s a hot spring I can see the steam rising softly I get out of the car and head into the steam “Steam Road” in Waita Onsenkyo, Oguni Town Steam rising softly It’s as if the whole town is enveloped in the steam of the hot springs Early mornings and in winter the atmosphere is even more fantastic. It’s a place that evokes a mysterious feeling, as if time is slowly rewinding. White smoke billows from all around. Every time you take a step, you’re drawn into an extraordinary world. There’s a faint smell of sulfur, and that’s the moment you realize you’ve arrived at a hot spring resort. It’s completely quiet , and the only sound you can hear is the whoosh of the steam. It’s a place where even sound becomes soothing , and it warms your heart . Beyond the steam, the mountain scenery spreads out. It’s a fantastical, somehow nostalgic landscape. Even though I just walked, I felt like my heart was a little lighter. Enveloped in the steam, it’s time to forget reality. This kind of quiet trip is also good. It’s a 10- minute drive from the “Steam Road” to Horei-no-Yu (Waita Onsenkyo) Arrived at Hage no Yu Enjoyed the family bath and hell steaming I was able to enter with zero waiting time Beyond the door spreads a magnificent view of the outer rim of Mt. Aso The hot water comes out when you put in a coin The smell of sulfur spreads with a roaring sound It’s a little fantastical, the white-blue water is soaking up The thick water was the best I brought sweet potatoes and eggs from home I want the eggs to be half-cooked so I add them at different times I can’t see what’s in front of me because of the steam rising so fast I can eat fluffy sweet potatoes ♡ That’s what I thought at the time. I never thought it would turn out like that… I waited leisurely for the steaming to finish The cat appeared It was a cat with a strange cry lol It smells good ~ It already smells like potatoes There seems to be less steam than before… A customer who was steaming next to me said something shocking “You can’t steam it unless you open the valve” I was steaming without opening the valve You should close the valve before opening the lid of the steaming pot I was also taught this by my neighbor Try cracking the potatoes Is it okay to steam them? Is it okay ~ Ah, not yet, maybe not yet. Let’s steam the hard potatoes . While the potatoes are steaming again, we eat the eggs. The smooth steamed eggs are done. I made a nice soft-boiled egg. I’ll crack it too!! …Huh? It’s not what I expected. I’ll try again!!! Will it crack cleanly? It looks hard. The person next to me closed the valve and it got quiet, so I thought it was strange. I’m glad they told me. It has a sweet taste. It’s cooked through. It’s good. If I hadn’t been steaming next to them , they might have known. When you open the valve , it comes out all at once. That’s why I put it in the one that was making a hissing sound. That was a mistake. It said that it was okay to open it, but there was a lid where it said it was, so it was hidden. I didn’t see it . I’ll try again next time. There are six hot springs in Waita Onsenkyo. Since I’m here, I decided to go to one more place. I’ll go through the tunnel of fresh greenery . I arrived at Takeno-yu Jigokudani Onsen Yuuka (Waita Onsenkyo Takeno-yu). This is a famous hot spring where the water flows directly from the source, quietly located in the depths of Waita Onsenkyo . You can enjoy four types of private baths (cut stone, rock, cypress, and tub). Since Horei-no-yu was rock, I’m aiming for either cypress or a tub. My first choice is Yama-no-yu (tub bath). It takes about 40 minutes (to wait), so which one should I go for? (Yama-no-yu) is not available. My first choice is not available… Yeah. Shall I take the cypress bath ? Let’s take the cypress bath. Should I take this one? Thank you , Rindou. It’s 1,800 yen . When you go to the bath, please plug the bathtub and press the intercom. Hot water is now coming out. Yes , it’s supposed to last 50 minutes, but it will be 55 minutes from now. Okay , thank you. The private bath is just across the bridge. I walk through the fresh greenery and sunlight filtering through the trees. I check the room and go inside. From the moment I step inside, I ‘m greeted by the pleasant scent of cypress. Outside the window, there’s vibrant greenery. I can’t help but lean forward . Isn’t it a really nice view? The mountain bath (tub bath) was unfortunate that it was full, but it was surprisingly nice, this picture frame was nice . Shall I fill it with hot water now? When you press the intercom, hot water comes out with force. You can’t help but stare at the sound of the bell ringing. The room was a relaxing space with a nostalgic feeling. This view is too luxurious. We were able to enjoy our time together. Both my body and my heart felt light and fluffy. It was like I had wandered into another world. The promenade was designed down to the last detail . It was an encounter that made me want to visit again in the autumn leaves season. Speaking of Aso, there is Jersey milk. There was also a wooden swing. Delicious, rich soft serve ice cream after a bath . Since I was there, I decided to compare the taste of the soft serve ice cream. Freshly squeezed milk was also recommended, so I bought that too. Delicious, completely different . Cheers! Yes ? Lol. How about milk? Hmm… I’d like to hear more about the milk! Is it easy to drink? It’s a little different from the milk you can get at the supermarket ? I sometimes drink milk as is… (Is that even possible?!) It’s easy to drink… (I’m so bad at food reviews !) It doesn’t feel richI had an image of it being rich, but I wonder if it is rich… I don’t know (this is no good) Try drinking it (let me know what you think…) Pose with milk after a bath lolIt makes you want to walk, on the train tracksIt feels like stand by meAt the entrance to Nabegataki Falls, the mascot “Ogutan” welcomes you excitedly!! Finally, we are in the forestThe sound of the river is slowly getting closer Drawn by the sound of the waterfall, I walked quickly . Oh , I can see it! A curtain of swaying white water. I also went behind the waterfall. Standing behind the waterfall, it was like a water cave . Surrounded by the sound of the waterfall, it felt like time was flowing slowly. It was a place full of negative ions, and even my mood became lighter. I drove through the Milk Road to the observation deck in the sky. I arrived at a spectacular spot floating on the land of Aso. As I walked along the narrow ridge path, I felt like I was getting closer to the sky . The majestic scenery of Aso spread out before my eyes. I was simply moved by the strength and beauty of nature. I found cute footprints! Aso has so much to see, no amount of time is enough. It was already 3pm, so I hurried to the bakery I was looking for. It was about to close, but I was able to order pizza! While waiting for the pizza to be baked, I encountered some children on horseback. It looked like it would be nice to be surrounded by the wind. The piping hot pizza arrived. They start baking after receiving the order. Bacon and honey cheese, let’s eat it while it’s warm. Looks delicious. Amazing ! Olives . Olives? Oh, really. Is it delicious? It’s freshly baked and the crust is thin, which is good, I prefer it when it’s thin. Ah, it’s delicious! Crispy ! So happy, so tasty, is it good ? Yes! That’s great, it was worth coming. Yes ! Oh, can I stop taking pictures? It’s a little embarrassing but , well, I guess I’m being shy now , I should have parked on the right, not the left (lol) An old house cafe quietly sitting on top of a hillYou can enjoy handmade tableware and home-roasted coffeeA place where time flows quietly, surrounded by the nature of AsoYou can overlook the majestic landEven the animals live freely hereThe name is from the Showa era, so it feels familiar ♡ Being here makes your heart feel soft and relaxedThe personalities of the owner couple are wonderful and exude throughout the entire spaceThe handmade tableware and sweets are a perfect matchBeing surrounded by the aroma of a carefully brewed cup of coffee makes you want to take a deep breathA moist, smooth and gently sweet cheesecakeThe gentle sweetness softly permeates your bodyThe view outside the window is like a paintingIt ‘s a shop you’ll want to visit again and againArrived at the last tourist spot of the day, the Shirakawa SpringThe total water source of the Shirakawa River, a first-class river60 tons of spring water per minute gushes out vigorously, and the sound of the water resonates pleasantlyYou can drink this waterOh , you can drink it? This water, which has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Waters, can be drunk on the spot, or scooped up with a ladle and taken home.Right next to the spring water pond is Shirakawa Yoshimi Shrine, the guardian deity of the Shirakawa water source, and a power spot. The shrine office was already closed, so we were unable to receive a goshuin , but we were able to visit the shrine leisurely, just the two of us.We quietly put our hands together , sincerely thankful for the fun trip, and hope we can spend another time like this… After sitting around the hearth at Takamori Dengaku no Sato, today’s trip came to an end.We had misunderstood the opening hours by an hour… We hurriedly headed to the restaurant.Ding . The reception had closed… We hurriedly searched Google …No way, this place was also full , and thus we became dinner refugees.Trouble is inevitable on a trip.Let’s smile and move forward, even if we’re hungry… it’s okay.We have a hot spring! If the start of the trip is a hot spring, why not end it with a hot spring too? We make up for dinner with a private bath at Mikawa Onsen …unexpectedly, it was full.Even the hot springs had abandoned us… there’s no way we’re going home like this!! Google, please help me! There is only an hour left until closing time, so I head to Meika BIJINNOYU (Hirayama Onsen) with a prayer in my heart . This is it! I enter with a pounding heart. My prayers have been answered!!! Thank you, Google♡ The temperature is 42°C. It’s a little hot, so you can either pour it over yourself or add water to adjust the temperature. Both the indoor and outdoor baths are interchangeable. I wait for the water to fill up along with the rabbit gazing at the moon. The water was hot, but it was thick and felt great – what a luxury to soak in a hot spring at the end of a trip . This marks the end of my trip. I’m heading back to my home in Nagasaki. Ah, I don’t want to go home… Kumamoto is a treasure trove of hot springs. I’d like to visit again, and get my revenge on Jigoku Mushi. When I do, I’ll definitely gather around the hearth at Dengaku no Sato . Oh, by the way, I bought coffee beans and cafe au lait base from Sanno Pottery. I’d like to enjoy them while thinking back on my trip. I’ve made another memory. Feeling comfortably tired , I decide to take a nap at a service area on the way home. I had only intended to take a quick nap, but before I knew it, a tranquil landscape was unfolding before me in the morning . Where should I travel next? On the way home, we are always talking about our next trip. Now I feel like I can do my best again tomorrow.
