Let’s go to Cameron Highlands! 🇲🇾🍓⛰️ solo backpacking Malaysia

Ah, I hope you guys are ready because we are about to go on an epic adventure. First things first, we need to get picked up and get a ride to the bus station. So, we are here at the TVs bus station and today we are heading to Cameron Highlands and I’m really excited. This is a place that I’ve been meaning to go to forever and just haven’t been. I’m going to give you guys a rundown in case you ever end up here and you feel really really confused. Right here is the entrance and the lobby is on the top floor, which is very inconvenient. And here is where you would go to print your general boarding passes. And over here is where you can go to purchase a ticket. Thankfully, mine was already purchased online and I paid one ring extra to just have the boarding pass sent to me via QR code. So, I can skip all of that today. And then what you would do is head down to the gates. I am gate number four today. But I’m here early and I have a bit of time. So, I’m going to pick up some snacks first. If you head to the back of the station, they have everything you need. They have a freaking Guardian Pharmacy, a 7-Eleven, KK Mart, even a Mixu. Now we are to my favorite section, the sandwiches. I freaking love this egg mayo sandwich. I know these are so bad for you, but I can’t help but always grab some Pringles for a road trip. For drinks, I think I will get one of these vitamin C drinks here. I’ve got a bit of time, so I’m going to eat in here. But look how nice this is. Cute little seating area in the minus. [Music] We are heading down to the gates now. We still have about 30 minutes. [Music] Look how clean and shiny the bus station is. Very nice. Shiny, shiny, beautiful chairs. Look at those guys. Nicely polished. Wow. A station in the US would never. [Music] Look how pretty this snack stand is, too. Love the pattern. [Music] And we’re off. [Music] [Music] [Music] We have finally arrived 4 hours later. And man, I’m feeling a little bit nauseous. I was not expecting that. I mean, I knew we were going up to the mountains and there were going to be curves and all, but feel a little sick. Walking it off now. So, I am heading to my hostel now on foot because it’s only about 8 minutes away. And here’s the beautiful town. Weather is okay, not terrible. It’s just very overcast and just a slight drizzle of rain, so nothing to cry about. Now, the biggest issue is all of the things that I want to do close at 5:00 and it’s 5 right now. I’ve made it to my teeny tiny hostel room, but it’s not a dorm, so I’m happy. This sun feels like it’s kind of wanting to come out, so I feel like we need to go race to do something before it gets dark. And this is the room. I believe this place is about 55 to 58 ringit per night depending on if it’s a weekday or a weekend day. Um but yeah, not bad. It’s a shared bathroom, but it’s still nice. Oh my god, the sun feels so incredible. It was raining the whole drive up. I just ordered a Grab. We are going to Cameron Tea House 2 because this is the only one that is open past 6:00 p.m. [Music] We made it. [Music] It’s so beautiful. You can pay six ringit to actually just walk down in the plantation, which is really cool. [Music] [Music] [Music] I really cannot believe how beautiful this is. Oh my gosh, it’s like a fairy tale. It’s so pretty. [Music] Oh my god. [Music] [Music] The smells, by the way, immaculate. I just ordered this. Now, I really don’t like durian, but I’m trying to acquire more of a taste for it since it is the king’s fruit after all. We’re going to try it now. [Music] [Applause] [Music] I think anything covered with a bunch of sugar and tathetic is going to taste good. So, I feel like this is not a fair evaluation of the durian. Long story short, Grab does not really work here because me and a bunch of other tourists got stranded at the tea plantation. Thankfully, I found a taxi and we all got a ride and it was lovely. Anyway, I’m back in the town. I’m really craving a scone. There’s supposedly a scone place in this camp like 20 minutes north here. I’m going to see if it’s actually walkable. If it starts to feel sketchy at all, I’m just going to turn around. But fingers crossed we can just walk there. [Music] The way that I just walked 20 minutes to this camp despite everyone telling me not to. So, one thing about me is I’m really afraid of the dark and I was so scared at one moment I had to call my boyfriend so he could be my emotional support through um through the dark areas. So, this is Kung Taman Seda and there is a scone bakery that is open until 11:00 p.m. Let’s go check it out. [Music] Okay, we’re almost there. All right, here we are, everybody. Wait, this does not look like [ __ ] open. All right, guys. I have bad news. They have not updated their Google Maps and it says it’s open till 11:00 and that is a blanted lie. It just really stings because I just walked all the way over here. [Music] Now I got to walk freaking back. Look how creepy this walk is. All right, dinner is served. We have barley bananas, some free karupuk, tom yam ayam, and some nazi py. M looks good.

Let’s go from KL to Cameron Highlands via bus!

We are going to start at TBS station and take a bus 4 1/2 hours through the curves of the mountain roads.

Once we get to town, we are heading to Cameron Valley Tea House 2 for golden hour. We try durian milk tea, and go on a search for scones throughout town!

  1. Great video. Just take care and do not walk alone if you're heading to forestry or any secluded area. Asked the locals for any information or if you needed help. You are at Tanah rata, Brinchang town is way further up about 5KM away.

  2. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, I enjoy watching your videos, keep shooting & sharing more videos. Im glad you came to Malaysia, there are indeed many places to explore.

  3. Went there 2 months ago. Its very cold. You can walk in the sun at noon. Great place to live. Many great restaurants at Brinchang.
